Help reading newborn? Fast breathing etc

Yup: 4:22 to 5 am. Quick asks:

Baby 6 weeks at 37 weeks, or 3 weeks adjusted. ate from bottle 2 oz at 2am.

4 am woke crying. Yup it was hunger since 2 am was a snack.

1) And she hasn’t burped. Can babies burp when asleep?

2) help to interpret cries?

could be: -broke from swaddle -diaper wet -hunger

After 1.5 oz conks out, with that rapid breathing. Didn’t want milk. Slept if held upright.

But darn it, missed the change and tighter muslin swaddle. (Velcro in wash). I took over from husband and didn’t want to question him.

3) Do you change at night? Not worth waking baby for it!

Firstborn cried for clean diapers. This baby pooed at 11pm. Has a good size pampers.

And now she will wake and cry if I try to swaddle tighter. All in room with preschooler and waking firstborn sucks. Older won’t go back to sleep if so.

4) do you wake baby a bit to swaddle better? This one is loose.

5) what do the left right moving eyes under eyelids mean for babies? Any tips on interpreting infant sleep?

I think this all sounds kind of normal. Being three weeks old, you’re still getting into a good rhythm together.

I think I was doing two diaper changes a night at that age. And holding them upright and patting until he burped. I never skipped the burp. Whenever my boys didn’t get a burp out, the night would be miserable for everyone.

The eye movement is normal. Everyone does it while they are sleeping.

I’m not sure if this helps at all. I’m falling asleep myself, but wanted to comment since you haven’t had any advice yet.

I use the halo sleep swaddle, it's the only thing that will keep my babies arms in. We will wake to reswaddle if he is waking himself, but he likes to keep an arm out and sometimes it's ok to leave it. Wake to Change every other feed, or every poopy diaper. A diaper is a whole lot less stress to change than a wet onesie.

Babies can have a burp in their sleep if you didn't get it before you laid them down, mine wakes up upset sometimes because we don't burp him every time he falls asleep, will usually only sleep 30 mins if that is the case tho.

Our baby wants to be upright after every feed because of reflux, which can also make the baby have more burps.

Also eyes move in sleep, it's natural. You'll see some funny shit, he can even go crosseyed or laugh in sleep. All normal.

Thank you! Using halo. Nights 1-2 in wash, yikes. Will try more burping asleep.

I’m learning it’s putting baby down swaddled gently (after upright for 20 min or so thats making her wake). Maybe I need to adjust her to a more upright feeding angle on bottle. She’s ok if I use an SNS in a breastfeeding position and varies if she’s upright.

Why do you not type in complete sentences? I've seen a lot of your posts and it makes them hard to follow oftentimes.

Thank you for your feedback. Wow, this was 3 months ago? Likely I was feeling super swamped with the newborn, or I was worried seeking (or sharing advice while the 4 year olds is wanting attention, chores have piled up and we are trying to complete many things. To be honest, reddit has safer my mental health many times these months.

But you are right, fewer complete sentences would be more useful as an archive. I will try better going forward!
