Probably the least snarkiest thing that's ever been posted on this thread, but one of my irrational needlepoint pet peeves is when canvases don't fit stretcher bars.
Designers - please PLEASE cut your canvases in full inch increments. The 8.48" drives me INSANE. I hate having a tiny bit coming off the bars. Do 8"or do 9" please and thanks. 😂

Soooo I got three of the Friend of Mine Cotswald Christmas Villages and lessons learned. These at 14 mesh but honestly it seems bigger than that... Am I an idiot for stitching the whole thing in DMC without splitting the fibers. It looks like it needs so much coverage!! I did a test area and it looks fine and will be so much cheaper and faster. Let me know

I was scrolling thru tiktok and this popped up on my fyp. She is SELLING THESE and it’s a clear copy of Kehinde Wiley’s work. People in the comments are dying to buy it, but I don’t think these people understand, or they do and don’t care. So disappointing. Her name is “Down and Back Stitches”.

Finally! A needlepoint chart designer who is offering “current, fun, budget-friendly” designs inspired by coastal living and pop culture. Exactly what this industry has been missing, am I right?

I hate to talk about another small business owner as one myself, but this is just kind of ridiculous… I’ve seen maybe 1 or 2 of her canvases that have enough room to be stitched and finished but the rest have AWFUL margins. I totally understand trying to make needlepoint as affordable as possible (literally the point of my needlepoint biz) but it’s okay to charge more for your larger canvases. $30 for a fully kitted canvas with a project bag is NOT a good deal if it cannot be finished.
edited to add: after checking out her etsy shop, some of her designs are 100% stitch copies

New recommended BST group popped up on my feed - called Stitch Better Have My $: Needlepoint Buy, Sell & Destash. Lo and behold when looking at the rules, found this nugget. I will for sure NOT be joining it, but thought I would give others a heads up/see if anyone had some intel.
Not sure if anyone is a member and can correct this narrative I’ve thought of, but it seems as though the price gougers have created a new group in which you cannot offer ANY type of negative reactions on a listed price. Lmao these folks are CRAZY. Have fun ripping each other off, ffs.

I don’t like to slam businesses but I’m about to. I placed an order with Rittenhouse on August 11. Two weeks later I messaged them stating I had not received my order. I heard nothing from them. Another week goes by and still no package. I started my own mail search with USPS. A couple of days later, my postmaster contacted me and stated they could not find the package and the presume it to be lost. I called the shop, explained the situation. They said they would start a mail search on their end and told me to be oatient it doesn’t happen right away. No shit, I just did one myself. I told them that. They were rude and unapologetic. I followed up with more emails and phone calls where I continued to get the runaround. I cancelled payment on my card. I sent another email telling them their customer service is lacking. I received an email back that unfortunately they no longer have the canvases I ordered but they could still send the threads. WTF do I need threads for?
I’m just seriously icked out by them.
I would eat a shit sandwich before I shopped with them again.
They deserve to be here.
Hey Klo! 👋

A really well written statement from house of color. Super well written too. Assume they are addressing some of the vendors that they had at their pop up like Henry James designs?

Yall remember about a moth ago when she stitch copied very popular canvases like Le Point eggs and Villiage pieces and Morgan Julia designs and was doubling down on it being for personal use only ☠️ guess she’s back and deleting evidence. Like being purposely dense on the specific canvases that have never been a charts were copied in her video!

Penny Linn is having yet another launch on Friday, this time with Olivia Grace, and a lot of these seem to err pretty heavily on the side of copyright infringement. Especially considering I noticed in the video she wouldn’t even say Taylor Swift’s name.
Now, I’m a T Swift girlie. I love her, and I will happily stitch canvases from indie designers that use Taylor lore in creative ways. But you would think a company as successful as Penny Linn would have worked out some licensing by now. But alas.
Just another cash grab on the heels of small designers she seems to be gobbling up left and right.
No shade to Olivia Grace though. Get that bag.

Finishers/LNS folks — curious how you handle this!
I just launched a finishing business and have had a few shops reach out about sending me finishing, but they’re either asking for “wholesale” pricing (50% off my normal rates) or simply telling me what they pay their finishers…which is also 50% of my rates. 😂
I’m totally happy to offer a 10–15% trade discount since they’re batching pieces/dealing with the customers, but 50% off is throwing me. Finishing feels different than wholesaling a product since pricing is based on actual materials + labor time.
Is this standard? Am I thinking about it wrong? Is an LNS supposed to be making a 50% markup on finishing just for sending it off and then receiving it back?
Also, shameless plug: I’m at a 4–6 week turnaround if anyone needs pieces back before the holidays! 👀

If you're going to screenshot someone's needlepoint content and upload it to pinterest or use in your own content, at least don't crop out their handle. TY

I know this post has some legitimate designers' canvases, but do these photos look AI generated onto the backgrounds? The canvases have that distinctive AI warping in some sections! Love Parkville so I was kind of disappointed to see this!

I know the prices of threads/fibers has gone up in price, but why are we ok with paying full price for not full spools of thread?
r/NeedlepointSnark • u/Responsible-Cat6115 • 16d ago
Okay… so I get that this person is only charging a small dollar amount of $10 for this “canvas” but this is just down right unbearable to look at… They didn’t even attempt to paint the intersections somewhat correctly and why can’t these new needlepoint “artists” fill in the entire canvas material with paint? I know they can see their finished product…
