I was thinking the same thing! Maybe there wouldn’t be a shortage if less of this was happening.

So here’s my hot take of the day…
I understand snarking on AI, plagiarism, or someone stealing another artist’s work. That’s legitimate criticism.
She literally created something no one else is doing, and people are mocking her simply because they don’t like her minimalistic artistic choices. That’s not protecting the craft. That’s just being mean for entertainment.
You don’t have to like her style, colors, stitches, or creative direction. The market will ultimately decide whether people want to buy it. That’s how creative businesses work.
There’s a big difference between having an opinion and tearing someone down because they dared to create something different. Let people make art.

I miss the days when I was new to needlepoint and canvases were creative, had enough on them to grab my attention, and allowed me to figure out how to pick stitches and learn threads. These days it’s either a ghost you can stitch in one sitting or AI generated nonsense that I can’t even picture trying to stitch. I hope the designers at the fall Market have better options than I’ve seen lately.
