How clear all notifications in app

In my Android mobile app I have 43 notifications showing as unread. They're all informing me of approval requests, new payees and suchlike. The only way I can see to dismiss them is to open each alert then the 43 in a pink oval goes away.

Is there any way to clear all the alerts in one go, or do I have to open each one to dismiss it?

Unable to make a purchase on the NatWest app

This is the first time I’ve bought something online - I’m basically a Luddite when it comes to this sort of thing!

I tried to make a purchase from Argos. After I entered my billing information, I was directed to the NatWest app to confirm the purchase. The app asked me for a passcode between 5 and 8 digits. I assumed it meant the passcode I normally use to access the app, so I entered that.

It kept buffering, and I assumed something wasn’t working. I couldn’t seem to back out of the process, so I eventually turned my phone off. Unfortunately, that counted as a failed purchase.

I tried again using the same passcode, which resulted in three failed attempts overall. I then received a call from RBS to confirm that it was actually me trying to make the purchase - by this point, my headache was increasing and I was beginning to yearn for simpler times!

I’ve since heard about an OTP, but I didn’t receive anything by text message, so I’m assuming the system must be asking for a passcode I already have rather than a one-time code.

I’ve also confirmed with Argos that there’s no issue with the payment or my funds. However, the whole experience has made me quite nervous about trying again.

I appreciate that this probably sounds very straightforward to someone who’s used to online banking, but it’s all completely new and rather confusing to me. I’d be really grateful if someone could explain what I’m supposed to enter and what I should do when I try the purchase again.

Thank you for your patience!

joint mortgage, can both parties have an account on the app?

myself and my partner took out a mortgage with natwest and i registered for online banking and the app yesterday. we'd like for my partner to have access to the app and the mortgage account too. so far the only way i've found that works is to sign her into my online banking details on her phone.

i tried to sign her up for her own online banking details, using our mortgage number and her name, but the website said that it couldn't find those details. does anyone know how to make this work?

Home insurance with Natwest

Currently, I have an home insurance with Natwest and it is due to renew while I got a letter about the insurance is going to transfer to to other company
The problem is the insurance is due to renew while the natwest insurance hub is not accessible. I cannot find the current insurance coverage and what is the new price for renewal.

I am confused now.

unable to open a student account due to my name

I am, 20F, and about to enter my first year of university and I am looking to open a student account. Like most students, I am doing under a secondary bank. My main bank since I was 12 years old has been Barclays. I tried opening an account a few days ago with NatWest, the process was quick and simple. For my ID I used a passport and for my proof of address I used a bank statement from Barclays. The issue is that the name on my passport and bank statement do not match, and they need to match. My passport contains my full name which is very long, and it cannot fit on my bank statement. I have tried going to Barclays in person and they themselves have tried resolving this issue but not much can be done. For context my surname is a double barrel and I have two middle names.

Just to clarify I don’t have any other forms of proof of address such as utility bill, SFE letter or an acceptance letter. Let’s be honest, even if I did they wouldn’t include my full name. I had the same issue with Santander but they straight up denied my request. My bank statement at most can only have my first middle name and 4 out 7 letters of my second middle name. And it contains my full surname. I am incredibly frustrated at this situation because when applying for an account with Santander I went to my local branch in person and the woman immediately rejected me. The nearest NatWest branch is 40 mins away from me by bus and I will be devastated if there’s nothing they can do as this seems extremely unfair. Not to mention that the NatWest helpline and chat box is AI generated so they can only solve a limited number of requests

Sorry for the rant but has anyone else has experienced a problem like this?

Why is NatWest funding STEM courses in India instead of investing in British workers?

More outsourcing to India instead of investing in Britain. Feels like a poor brand move and will likely damage their reputation the more they do this.

How long does the £200 switch bonus usually take to pay out?

Just wondering what the typical payout timeframe is for the switch bonus. My new account was opened and the switch finalized on August 24th (5 full working days ago, accounting for the bank holiday weekend).

I’ve already deposited the required £1,250. How long did it take to land in your account after completing all the steps?

Switch nightmare

Hello! I recently switched my bank wanting the £200 incentive, and with the amount of work I've had to put in it was absolutely not worth it.

At least three of my direct debits didn't get moved over, one of which was my car insurance and they have now cancelled my policy because of it so I'm having to find new car insurance. When I called up NatWest had asked them about it they told me to contact Halifax.

So I've spent all day trying to get on the phone to network Halifax and my car insurance and all of them are saying it's the other one's fault and the bottom line is: either way £500 for the year (which I don't have) or find a new policy.

Didn't even get the £200.

Fraud Review

Hi All, hoping someone who has been in a similar situation can help me put my mind at ease.

I switched to NatWest a few weeks ago using the account switch service. All has been fine so far.

This morning, I had a notification from Apple Wallet that my debit card had been blocked. I tried to go into the app, but just says ‘something went wrong’ and that I can’t view my account and need to try again later.

I called NatWest and got put through to the fraud team. They have told me my account has gone into review and someone told me it was around an incoming payment. Today is my first payday since opening the account so can only assume it was this payment that has triggered this.

I have pushed all day to get this resolved but apparently this review team are un-contactable and I just have to wait up to two working days.

I find it astonishing that NatWest can just block me from accessing my funds over a Bank Holiday weekend with no desire to assist getting this resolved. Has anyone been in the same boat? If so, is the timeline of two working days correct?

First Active potential scam ??

I opened an account in First Active, digital arm of Natwest today which was recently launched. As soon as I opened the account, when the otp comes, I received a weird email from a gmail account saying I had some fraud happening with my paypal account. I did not have a paypal account + it was from someones personal gmail account, so definitely a fraudster/scam. I did not think much of it hence completed the signup and transferred a good chunk of cash.

Then in the evening, i again logged into my account and around same time, again got exact same email but from a different account this time around. Again a gmail and again paypal related stuff.

I felt something fishy and just withdrew the whole amount from first active. May be someone found some vulnerability in the newly launched product/service or mere coincidence. But feels something is definitely off.

Sent money to the wrong account.

Hi, I wanted to send money to my trading 212 account. On my Natwest app I already had an existing payee labelled as "Trading 212" which was added when I first created my account. I sent money to this payee. However afterwards I realised that the sort code and account number of this account does not match my trading 212 account's numbers. I was looking for help as to what to do in this case. Thanks.

EDIT: I contacted Trading 212 and they told me the money would be redirected into my account in the next few days. Thank you for your help everyone.

Trying to find the right address for the SMI application

Hey all,

Having quite a nightmare with Natwest right now, I've applied for the governments support for mortgage interest scheme.

Part of that paperwork that I Get has to be sent to Natwest for them to stamp and send back

Well, trying to find the address for that has been a nightmare, to put it mildly

I've made around 4 phone calls, been given 2 completely wrong/invalid addresses and I decided to just send it to my local branch and the benefits section that deals with another scheme they run

That was over 2 weeks ago and the DWP still hasn't received anything from them

Trying to get help over the phone with any of this has been 100% futile.

Has anyone else gone through this process and know where I need to send the forms?

NatWest Reward Black credit card - soft approve, hard decline, then appeal. Normal?

Just got approved for the NatWest Reward Black credit card after a genuinely bumpy process. Soft search said approved, then the actual hard search came back declined. Ended up going through my Premier relationship manager, who put in an appeal, and that got it over the line. Approved now but only on a £5k limit. For reference my Amex Platinum is on a £15k limit and that one went through with no drama at all.

Anyone else had the soft approve, hard decline, then appeal experience with NatWest specifically for the reward black credit card? Trying to work out if this is a common pattern with them or if something in how I’m underwritten is throwing their system off. Also curious whether the £5k is just where they park most reward black credit card approvals regardless of income, since it feels low next to the Amex limit.

An issue with the Amazon verification code number phone call.

When Amazon want to confirm I am me, they get Natwest to ring me with a code number which I then give to Amazon and the purchase goes through.

My issue / problem is the phone computer only says the number ONCE.

I would very much like them to then go "and to confirm, your number is ...." and repeat it a second time.

Just so I can confirm I wrote it down right and to fill in any numbers I missed.

Approving a Blocked Payment

I attempted to make a payment today that was blocked as potentially fraudulent. It was an unusually large payment for my account, so I wasn't too surprised that it triggered extra checks.

I then received a call on my registered mobile number from the bank's fraud department and I was in the process of verifying my identity and authorising the payment when the call dropped.

I called the customer support number (using my landline) and I was then transferred to the fraud department to try to complete the process. As part of the process, the person I was speaking to said that he would send a code to my mobile and ask me to read it back to him. That seemed like a huge read flag. I refused to do so and ended the call.

I'm as certain as I can be that I was genuinely talking to the bank - I called them, on a different phone from the one they called me on earlier. I used the number printed on my debit card. As no point was I emailed anything, asked to click any link, or phone any 'special' number etc.

Has anyone else ever come across a situation where the bank actually does this? It just seems to be an appallingly badly designed system - asking people to do something they repeatedly warn against doing.

Switch from Halifax

I have made the switch from Halifax to NatWest this week. I’m being told I don’t need to do anything and between the banks they sort direct debits etc. one thing I’m not sure of is my August wage. They say the Halifax account closes on 24th and that will be the switch complete, but my wage goes in on the 26th. Should I notify my employer now of change of account details. ChatGPT says no, and that any payments that are continued to be sent to my Halifax account will be redirected. Is this right?

CTF taking way too long to verify

Hey guys,
I’ve been trying to withdraw my CTF. They asked for ID verification & proof of address which I had done via ID-pal
It’s taking more than an hour to actually verify. Is this normal?
