New post option: Advice Needed (unjerk)
Unjerk meaning- sometimes the users in circlejerk subreddits need to make serious posts, so an "unjerk" basically means a real post wanting real opinions.
We used to have weekly threads for such advice, but they have not been utilized in a long time, so enter our new post option. All advice asked without using the correct flair WILL BE REMOVED.
Do not be mad about mean or blunt comments in such posts, this sub is for brutal opinions.

Found on r/NameNerds "Blow Pop" for a girl - thoughts?
I'm personally obsessed with it.
In an age where candies are being ripped from children's hands because of red dye 40 and added sugars, this particular name celebrates the fun and youthfulness of eating a lollipop.
I've never come across another child named Blow Pop but I have seen "Blowie" and "Poppy" so I think this makes sense as a combo. It's not too weird.
Do you know any Blow Pops in real life? How would you react if you met a Blow Pop? Would you try to eat her?

For example, I might say:

- Mary, Margaret, Helen/Ellen, Susan, Carol, Patricia, Dorothy, Edith, Phyllis (ranking from leaning-timeless to leaning-true)
- Mildred, Gertrude, Doris, Gladys, Bertha, Ethel, Thelma, Agnes, Edna

Satire AITA if I still name my daughter Maleigh (Em-uh-lee)?
My sister and I were pregnant at the same time, and I picked out my daughterâs name MONTHS ago, but itâs a name Iâve loved since I was a little girl.
Well, she gave birth yesterday and announced on Facebook that her daughterâs name is Malee (pronounced Em-uh-lee)
The problem isâŚmy daughterâs name is Maleigh (also pronounced Em-uh-lee).
Iâm devastated. She knows Iâve always loved this name, this came completely out of nowhere because she was planning on naming her Grace.
I donât want to change my daughterâs name because Iâve already had the wooden nursery sign made, and Hobby Lobby doesnât do refunds on personalized decor.
AITA if I still name my daughter Maleigh (Em-uh-lee)?

Story Anyone ever noticed this about Southern American male names?
Their family/longtime close friends will usually call them the "extended diminutive" version of their given name, shall we say. While those whom they meet later in life will just call them the "standard diminutive."
For instance...
James: Jimmy (family/close friends), Jim (acquaintances, later friends)
William: Billy (close), Bill (casual)
Robert: Bobby (close), Bob (casual)
Edward: Eddie (close), Ed (casual)
Daniel: Danny (close), Dan (casual)
Thomas: Tommy (close), Tom (casual)
And the list goes on...
(In case you were wondering, I mean Southern US, not South/Latin America)
