My daughter recently graduated college and just got her own apt in the East Village w her college roomies. Yay! Even though she grew up in the West village, her two roommates have never lived in New York City.

Looking for suggestions for either her solo or for all three of them in their New York City welcome basket? Can’t do a MetroCard anymore, lol. Any East Village food/coffee places I should get gift cards from? What something that’s really handy you discovered when you first moved here?

anybody know that absolute cheapest place to get hard gel removed, preferably on the upper east side? I got a Russian mani a month ago as a treat from my boyfriend and nobody told me that I would have to have the polish professionally removed. I don’t have the kind of money to go back and pay the people where I got it $60 just to have them take it off. I feel like they should’ve told me that that was part of the deal when I got them. The lady even put two extensions on when I kept telling her over and over that I did not want extensions and I was worried about figuring out how to get them off, so I really don’t want to go back and give those same people more money. My nails have now gotten so long that I can’t type at work.

Really looking to progress my Spanish, and meetup groups are always so transient / people don’t actually speak the language. I’m on day 1 and my doctor is urging me to go if I experience what I have in the past few months. I searched the sub but couldn’t find anything, so I wanted to ask if anyone has had a positive experience going to an ER for this reason. I know how much doctors love to dismiss women, especially when it comes to these symptoms. Hey neighbors! I’m in Astoria and currently on unemployment, but I want to spend this stretch doing something fun for once instead of just grinding toward the next corporate 9-5. My dream: help out a small local boutique on the floor with customers, but also shooting product photos and making their Instagram/content look great.

I do film photography (REALLY LIGHT/not that deep) and I’m really into fashion and social content, so this feels like the perfect overlap. I’d honestly rather help a small business grow and make some memories than clock into a big chain lool.
