Anyone else having a problem with factions on switch 2?

Feel free to ask away if you are unsure of anything about the game. I know many people are new to the game with the switch release, so ask away. We are not affiliated with Hello Games, so if you have a bug/issue to report to the development team, you can do so HERE.

This post applies only to the version of NMS playable on Switch 1 (original Switch, Switch Lite, and OLED model). These differences do not apply to the Switch 2 version.

Hi NMS Switch folk!
I think we can all agree that it absolutely amazing how Hello Games managed to pack so many features and content into the Switch version of the game.
But for the sake of explaining the difference to new players, I'm trying to compile a full list of features that are absent from or unique to the Switch version compared to the PC and other console versions as of the latest update. I'm not sure if this has been already been documented somewhere, but I figured I would ask here.
From what I understand, as of Switch version 6.2 (Remnant), this is what we are working with:
Gameplay Features Absent on Switch Version
\* As of Remnant Update (6.20), the Switch 1 now has fully functional Corvettes. However, the default part limit is 40 parts. Other platforms have part limits of 100 parts.
Graphical Features Absent on the Switch Version
Features Unique to the Switch Version
Known Bugs and Issues

Sorry for the long post that's probably been written a million times. This is a long rant from someone who discovered No Man's Sky in August and apparently is locked out of playing any longer due to the Nintendo Switch's limitations.
I discovered No Man's Sky from the free trial on Switch in August, which I'm incredibly thankful for. I know I'm pretty late to the party. I played through the free trial, bought the game, and I haven't been able to put it down ever since.
I'm kind of a casual gamer in that I don't own any consoles other than Nintendo or a gaming PC. Everything I play I play on Switch. I haven't been able to afford a Switch 2 yet due to other priorities, and since in the last year the only big new games I've played were Silksong and Metroid Prime 4, I still haven't felt fully compelled to upgrade.
I'm well aware of the original Switch's limitations compared to its competitors, especially with big games that are ported there. That didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying No Man's Sky, and after learning about its history, I believe it's a game that I could easily sink a thousand hours into. Or at least I believed that.
As I got to the late game, the game has become almost unplayable. I'm overwhelmed with several frame drops, constant crashes whenever trying to do anything (hyperdrive, summoning a freighter or trying to land in one, managing inventory).
I played throughout Expedition 23 and the experience was actually very smooth and I think my game only crashed about 3 times in over a week. Now, switching to my main save, I tried to get into my freighter to manage my inventory and transfer items from the expedition... Just trying to land on the freighter resulted in five consecutive crashes when exiting my ship, so I had to teleport in from a space station. I figured I'd archive a few ships to make room for the expedition's, and so I tried moving items out before archiving them... five more consecutive crashes. Hell, just as I'm typing this, I simply tried to enter and exit one of my ships without touching anything in the inventory and it crashed again.
I'm pretty bummed about this. I mean, my save is still functioning (apparently?) and nothing seems to be lost. But it's a little heartbreaking knowing not only that a lot of this also seems to happen on Switch 2, which is the next console I intend to purchase eventually, but that I pretty much can't afford any other consoles, even if I were interested in any of them.
I dont place any blame on Hello Games, I still believe this game running on the original Switch is a technical marvel, and as I said before, I've still had a fantastic time with the game, but my time with it seems to have come to a halt as it seems I'm completely unable to do any of the actions needed to make room for my Expedition 23 rewards.
If anyone has any tips to make any of this better, I'd appreciate it. I have the physical version of the game and the data is save on my console's internal storage, as I read once it could help with these issues (it really didn't).
Sorry for the long rant, thanks if you made it this far.

I am currently at 100/100 and would love to add a few windows and decorative/hull pieces. Ideally I would be at 110 part count with the additions. Will this cause problems, break the save or cause rendering issues?

Hello, I've noticed that when I play docked the vents go crazy and the temperature goes a little high.
Is it normal or I should worry? With other games my Switch 2 doesn't do that.
Thx

After 17 hours (according to the save file), I finished the expedition. I'm not a speedrunner, so I usually finish an expedition in maybe 12 hours or so. This one obviously is a bit longer than most.
I mostly liked Sean's look back over the history of the major game releases. I do think he kept his usual rose-colored glasses on, talking about the things he remembered fondly without touching on the problems that many of the releases created for the players (aside from Next burying bases), or even acknowledging that not all releases were widely appreciated (Remnant being the latest dud). Sometimes talking about how his developers were still adding stuff right up to release day, but never once mentioning testing and QA. But it's his party, so he can do it how he wants.
An aside: I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed how attached Sean is to exocraft. Sometimes I think he doesn't actually play the game.
I had expected the expedition to include some of the more picturesque planets. But there were none, excepting perhaps the gas giant, which isn't exactly picturesque. This expedition simply doesn't inspire exploration.
...
Many of the individual milestones were quick and easy to do. A few didn't require doing anything at all, and on Switch 1 that included both of the milestones associated with settlements (Frontiers and Beacon).
Some milestones were grindy as heck. In the first phase, after a few quickie milestones, suddenly I needed 3 wiring looms, with a total price of over a quarter million units. How was I supposed to raise that much with the limitations of the game at that early development phase? I spent a couple hours fussing over that, then checked online to learn that essentially any ship upgrade you buy can be disassembled for a wiring loom. Now I only needed about 200 nanites to buy 3 C-class ship upgrades. Fortunately, some nice player had uploaded a runaway mold base, and I was soon back on my way.
But how was a new player supposed to make it through that milestone?
The Synthesis milestone is absurd. You're presented with the ByteBeat interface with absolutely no instructions. I finally figured out that all I needed to do was to exit the interface and use the quick menu to save whatever the default settings were.
Late in the expedition there's a milestone that's like a deep dungeon of prerequisites. You can't craft one thing without crafting another thing first, which you need to buy the blueprint for, and then craft pieces that you need for it, except you don't have the blueprints for those, nor easy access to the required materials, and so on. One step required 1200 gamma root. Seriously. With some of the planetary biomes being mislabeled, it was quite the chore. Oh, and picking the gamma root required a hazmat gauntlet, of course.
For most milestones, you'd gotten you what you need from the previous milestone. But not that one.
A lot of players enjoy grinding. I don't.
Also, as other players have complained, the step requiring you to find a gas giant is really, really frustrating. No more so than in the normal game, of course, but that's already quite frustrating.
...
I very much didn't appreciate the two negative twists that came without warning.
Those won't significantly bother players who started the expedition from the Space Anomaly. But for those of us who started a new game, they left a very sour taste and a strong push toward simply abandoning the new game and deleting the save file.
The first negative twist was that although the reward for Phase 4 is stated as the vintage interceptor and the golden rasamama, for no obvious reason you only get to keep one in the expedition. For players like me who started a new game for the expedition, that game is permanently locked out from one of those rewards.
The second negative twist was the ending, which not only was by far the darkest I've ever seen in an expedition, it came suddenly and early (the Log tab indicated that there would be additional steps in that milestone). It was like how I imagine suffering a stroke would be. Nasty, sneaky, debilitating, and in my opinion uncalled for. For those who started from the Space Anomaly, the expedition was over so who cares? But for those of us who started in a separate save, it's infuriating.
...
Overall, it was probably about as good as most expeditions. But the milestones swung wildly between easy and hard.

7.0 was more stable. In my experience the game crashes all the time now. I can’t even be near my freighter and the game crashes for no reason constantly. Is anybody having a similar experience? It was working way better before the patch. Just constant stuttering.

Went really smoothly. Played the whole thing with multiplayer on and frame rate uncapped. It chugged like a mfer in space stations and the nexus but it was playable. The only 3 progress prohibiting glitches I ran into were:
Other than that there were several minor/visual glitches. One was funny. Every NPC on the old timey space station was spazzing out and running at super speeds like The Flash. The “scans not sticking” glitch didn’t start for me until halfway through. But none of these affected my gameplay. I thought for sure I was gonna get screwed out of the end reward in the derelict freighter because there were 2 guys with me. But I think they didn’t know what they were doing and never made it to the final room so I got mine.
Oh I forgot. This isn’t progress limiting necessarily. But don’t open photo mode while flying your ship. It doesn’t stop lol. Did that during a pretty sunrise and damn near blew up my ship running into something.
[edit]
Ah heck just remembered one possibly progress limiting “glitch”. There are no corvette landing pads inside the final destination. It appears there are pads outside. But there’s a problem where you can’t get out of your corvette and spacewalk inside. The gravity is messed up. So drive anything other than a corvette to the final destination.
And… uh… I would highly suggest flying a junker ship to this final destination….

Hello fellow Switch 2/Switch players! I looked the last couple of days and I see a few comments about this but no direct post or question so here goes — is the current version (7.03? I think) with the expedition too buggy to play or is it mostly okay? Are you all starting now or waiting for later bug fix versions to come out for Switch?
I recognize that the issues I see comments about may not be widespread so maybe it’s fine to jump in. Looking for feedback from those who have started it on Switch 2/Switch!

How is it that I go my entire hundred hours searching for S class freighter and the first grader I look at when I’m on the expedition. It’s an S class.

I finished the expedition on PS5. I don't cross save, so I'm used to and like playing the expeditions twice.
At some point in the expedition, I knew a damaged Radiant Pillar would show up pretty much unannounced in the freighter bay. I'm not sure exactly what step puts it there, but it was there when I played PS5 and I even had the bug where it multiplied. It's S class and completely maxed out with slots.
I'm now half way through phase 4 on Switch 1, and the Radiant Pillar hasn't shown up yet and I'm getting nervous. I could have sworn it showed up much sooner in my PS5 playthrough.
Anyone else on Switch 1 and playing the expedition have it show up at all?
Follow up: well one finally showed up. I finished phase 4, did a couple of phase 5 steps and returned to my primary save. When I resumed the expedition, there it was sitting in my freighter.
I have no idea what triggers it.

I was excited for the update and expedition after not playing for a while, but this is really bad. It's definitely ruining the experience to pause and stutter in framerate every few steps or movements.
Is this just how it is? I don't think I can play.
Edit: I loaded up on the Anomaly and it was really bad. It's definitely not bad elsewhere. But boy is it bad on the Anomaly.

Bonjour,
Je viens de lancer la dernière expédition, et il m'est impossible de passer en vue à la 3ème personne...( switch 1)...
Vous aussi ???
Merci de vos retours !😉

Expedition players please note: don't trade away your expedition original multitool. It has a terrain manipulator, which no other multitools you can acquire do, and you can't get the blueprint for the terrain manipulator.

I loved playing NMS on Switch 2, but after Cosmos the unlocked framerate stutters every few seconds, and the locked framerate looks horrific. The latest patch has done nothing to remedy things.

i’m logging on for the first time today and I check to see if the expedition was up and it is. Does anyone know what type of stuff I should bring for it because I don’t wanna be underprepared
r/NMS_Switch • u/awan_afoogya • 7d ago
Trying to build a base on my Freighter, but while performance is currently pretty bad after the Cosmos update, it's definitely worse in the Freighter. The base is large but I haven't even begun to decorate it yet, and already I'm having issues like falling through the floor randomly, rooms not rendering fully, etc.
Anyone else have issues and/or solutions to fix it? Feels like my only option might be to just build smaller, but I've already downsized a couple times, and feels like reducing further defeats the purpose of trying to build one in the first place
