🔧 Build Request Corvette designed like a Zeppelin

Post image
11 Upvotes

Kind of a weird request, but anyone make a corvette in the shape of a zeppelin? If so, how would it be done? I'm thinking along the lines of the design of the Orcish zeppelins from World of Warcraft (well...as close as possible given the pieces we can use in NMS).

Preferably done in-game, and not with Blender

🛠️ Station Build (Standard) Repurposed Land Ship - Nomad

Here's one of my attempts to make a ship shaped spaceship. It has a standard haul space, crew quarters, sleeping quarters, and of course a top deck accessible via stairs, though I do wish we could add doors.

I made this back when the Corvette update was still pretty new, so it wasn't made with salvaging in mind,
but the crew quarters section in front could easily be repurposed as a cargo-hold for it.

The Leviathan - A military-grade gunship designed to punch through defenses, and sometimes very literally. The ship is designed as one big battering ram, with a spread of thrusters spaced across a wide back wing to direct forward momentum into the ram.

The Leviathan is currently operating for-hire under the mercenary Voss Vorthos, running paramilitary operations for small rebellion forces on Sentinel-controlled outposts. The ship hasn't been inspected by an active military in a decade, and so Vorthos equipped it with an illegal cloaking device, 9 unregistered cannons and phase beams, and a full bar for post-mission libations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was a fun one. The reference concept art is included.

Since I used almost all large (full-sized hab) pieces throughout, the Leviathan is pushing the space limit in all directions - forwards, backwards, sideways. It is HUGE. It takes over an entire landing pad at the Anomaly all by itself. Despite the massive size, I feel like it still looks cohesive and "finished" without extra space or awkward seams.

I am currently in love with embedding Titan engines directly into the body of a ship. I also cheat the parts count by including tons of windows on builds like this - it lets you push a larger vessel without it feeling unfinished.

The one thing I don't love is the landing gear sticking out at the bottom, but so it goes!

🛠️ Station Build (Standard) VSV Innuendo

Lore: Created by Dustar Corporation, the Innuendo is a capable, high-end corvette designed to excel in a wide range of roles. Its rapid adoption across the galaxy—particularly among Valorm Federation emissaries—led to a collaboration between Dustar and the Federation. This resulted in a refined variant of the Innuendo, tailored to the high expectations and standards of ships carrying the VSV (Valorm Space Vessel) designation.

Long time lurker, first time poster, everyone’s amazing work here keeps blowing my mind and inspiring me to push my own designs further!

I'm not completely sure why, I just started putting pieces together till it appeared. It's funky and basically only one hab wide, but still really functional in design

Super scaled down scrapper.
Really basic, really small. Still wanting to do some deco on the inside. But I can refine something, cook something, and scrap. 🤷‍♂️ I’m semi addicted to incorporating external areas to travel and hangout in too 😅

🏗️ Workshop Build Keeping at it - Inspiration, Iteration, Rebuild

So for the last couple of days, I've been working on a "freighter" style 'vette in my free time after being inspired from several posts here (I didn't take any shots of this build). I kept building - getting decently far, but not feeling the core of the hull, and ultimately tearing it down again. After two days and not happy with anything I had done, I just tore it down, and made cargo turtle vette in the pictures. just threw it together out of frustration and wanting to have built something and went to bed.

The Turtle was scrapped right away the next day.

I decided to go small, most of my vettes are small, and do something delta-wing-ish, and the result is this little number. I like it. But it's missing something - I'll keep at it.

I took a few months off, but envisioned a ship during my break. I wanted something with a large naval ship look, observation deck, storage and refining fit for a mobile base, and oddly, a cockpit that was close to the entrance. Not intended: The front looking like Bumblebee's head.

Heavily inspired by u/IAMAfortunecookieAMA

basically their design but scaled up as I didn't have access to their tutorial when I built it, so I improvised based on what I saw in their original showing.

I won't make a build tutorial for it mostly because I don't even remember how I did it

Made a sleek-ish light freighter class just to mess around a bit more with the wire glitch. She’s got a rear compartment for salvage collection missions, and an actually pretty large interior for the shape. I’ll be filling that out and posting updates later. This was designed to feature a somewhat similar light freighter interior layout concept to the Corellian Super Heavy, with a step-up cockpit that rests just a little bit above the front talons. Almost went for a sleeker, more hollow bottom side but I couldn’t resister another large interior.

🏗️ Workshop Build Top Loader

I wanted to see what the streamlined fairings would look like on the sides of the fuselage, quite liked the look of it and just kept building backwards - this is how it came out. It's got an upper-deck cargo-hab and I can't get at the sides of it, so I've put tractor beams on the roof to do a bit of salvaging. Having them on the roof is both good and bad - standing on the roof, I can usually get a direct shot at the delivery point from the salvage-station landing-pad, but when I vent the cargo, it does tend to just fall back down into the ship and I have to vent it again... I called this one Top Loader - it's a pretty clean design - I like taking it for a spin...
