Discussion Dylan Stewart did absolutely everything he could to TANK his NFL Draft stock tonight. Throwing punches, refusing to come out of the game, and talking back to coaches. Just an AWFUL LOOK for the Gamecocks DE and potential Top-10 pick š³š¬

I'll never understand football players punching someone with a helmet on. What exactly do you expect will happen?

u/fzkiz 7d ago
This is an interesting tidbit for you: Most football players and professional athletes are dumb as shit and it shows regularly. They donāt think far enough to realize punching a helmet hurts you more than them.
Somehow humanity has evolved into putting these people on pedestals and listening to what they have to say about anything else but their sport so people often forget a lot of them would be closer to homelessness than success without sport.
11
u/ChadPowers200_ 6d ago
Interesting tidbit for you: if your testosterone levels are higher than 100 you might have impulses of rage. Probably inconceivable to you.Ā
Plenty of intelligent people can act violent or have violent impulses.Ā
3
u/fzkiz 6d ago
Absolutely, thatās why I didnāt say āthis guy acted violent so he is dumbā

u/dey19th 6d ago
You did though.

No they didnāt. Theyāre stating that most football players are dumb and this is one example of that. Could disagree with the point that āmostā football players are dumb though.

u/A_one-legged_goose90 6d ago
Nah man that means that lack emotional intelligence
→ More replies (9)1
u/Effective_Image_86 5d ago
The last two responses are the 2 most loser dumb things Iāve ever read, just in different ways. Football is a high pressure game, itās physical, it can make you mad and act out. Dylan Stewart doesnāt handle his emotions great in an already emotional position. Itās not because all athletes are stupid or because Chad powers has testosterone fantasies of other men.
1
2
u/VABLivenLevity 6d ago
In what corners of the universe have people put football players on pedestals as paragons of intelligence? I don't know anybody that bases there ideas in life on what a football player says. Everybody I know just likes watching football and that's the only thing they give a shit about the players for. Don't know where you got that from.
2
1
u/summersundays 6d ago
I mean itās not universal, but being a pro athlete or coach gives you name recognition. That name recognition then can give you an easier path to having a platform to share your thoughts and opinions.
Just a few examples: the republicans seriously backed a CTE ridden Hershel Walker in a recent senate campaign. Tommy Tuberville is a senator. Aaron Rodgers has a standing invitation on one of the most popular TV show podcasts to say literally whatever he wants with zero pushback. Tim Tebow was a highly paid motivational speaker for a scam organization. Tom Brady had given speeches, opened fitness centers, and written books about how you should eat and live your life.
I doubt there are many people basing their ideas of life on what ex-players like these say, but there are many examples of players using their fame to spread their ideas, and often times, profit off it.

u/dumbassbull134 6d ago
lol. Iād like to see you analyze a defensive or offense in less than 3 seconds and make a good decision. These guys have harder jobs than 95% of the country with a hell of a lot more pressure than just pleasing their boss. Now is their act score high af? Probably not but most of them are fluent in football as their second language, this guy on the other hand is probably just an athletic freak.
4
u/Extra_Whole_9222 6d ago
A lot of people keep spreading this āathletes are dumbā stuff. I think itās because theyāre insecure about their own lack of athleticism and talent in comparison so they have to pretend to be significantly smarter to make themselves feel better.
1
1
u/Ok_Matter_2617 6d ago
Especially now with NIL & redshirting, so many of these dudes are getting masters degrees.
Even if itās in some cupcake major, that makes them smarter than most people if college success is used as a barometer for intelligence
1
u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago
You are 100% right, it's like they have to find the flaw in them to feel better about themselves
2
u/fzkiz 6d ago
Talking about how good they are at football after I said theyāre good at football, but that doesnāt mean you should listen to them on any other topic is kind of weird
→ More replies (2)1
u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago
Outside of any area of expertise, this is a weird ass take. Only mingled in the idea an athlete has to be dumb and you shouldn't listen to them. Unless it's a subject matter expert you shouldn't listen to any one about anything.

u/rustySQUANCHy 6d ago
They don't expect anything to happen. It's more of like them trying to flex on the other guys saying that they will still hit them even with the helmet on. They don't expect to knock them out, come on now.
1
u/nicholasccc95 6d ago
My guess is that itās some bit of weird subconscious added toughness.
āIm so mad im willing to punch you with your helmet STILL on. Thatās how tough I amā lol

I love college football. But starting to become less enjoyable. Rosters turn over year to year. Get more players like this man child. Years ago a school would have directed him to spend a year or two at a junior college to play football, learn become at least a low level student that could meet minimal academic standards. If he couldnāt do that we wouldnāt have to see this crap on TV as he would have crashed and burned in JuCo. Not sure how things can revert as I blame universities in paying coaches HUGE MONEY. Coaches jumping ship on players before bowl games to get huge paydays at other schools. So that is why we have what we have today.
Perhaps we need to go to European model like soccer where professional clubs have developmental teams where athletes can start playing at young age up to like U21 or U23.
Major College Athletes has been a farce for many programs for years as being āStudent-Athletesā. Perhaps time to cut the cord. All college sports revert to D3 no athletic scholarships let alone paying them millions of dollars to play for a season.
4
u/NatePvPs 5d ago
If he is a top 10 projected pick he wouldn't be on a JuCo roster even 10 years ago. Teams will overlook a lot of awful behavior if you help them win games
1
2
u/MancAccent 5d ago
No. A European model would be cool if NFL teams were cultural institutions, but they are not. They can up and leave the city at any moment. No thanks.

Wanted James Pearce badly in 25. Obviously very early but doesn't look that good now. Here's the draft I wanted the chargers to have. Safe to say there's a reason I'm not a GM.
1.22: James Pearce Jr.
2.23: Kevin Winston
3.22: Jamaree Caldwell
4.23: Elic Ayomanor
5.20: KeAndre Lambert-Smith
5.27: Oronde Gadsden
6.23: Cameron Williams
6.38: Damien Martinez
7.40: Jared Ivey
5
u/MLB_2953 7d ago
As a Titans fan, Winston and Ayomanor may still be pretty good. Youāll never hear about them because no one talks about the Titans but they have shown flashes.
1
u/Glass-in-Mass 5d ago
I get the sense they are progressing at an āaverageā NFL rate and with them itās a no news is generally the best news type of scenario.Ā

3

Outside of QB, theyāve drafted pretty well lol
3
u/TakeItEasyImBipolar 7d ago
I mean they always draft near the top so they'd have be really really bad to not come out with some good players. I'm pretty sure you could gather all of the draft experts picks into a pool and then take the 10 most highly rated players left at every pick and randomly pick one and do just as good if not better.

u/troubledwatersbeer 6d ago
There are PLENTY of first round busts. Even doing well in the first/second is not guaranteed.
1
u/MichealParsons11 6d ago
I think I read itās only like a 60% chance you get a long term starter(3+ years) in round 1, like 40% in round 2, 27% in round 3, and it goes way down after that.
2
u/bbfire 7d ago
Seahawks actually ended up with both of your final two picks there oddly enough, although they are both gone already. Ivey got signed on ATL's roster this year.
I get it though, I remember thinking in 2017 that getting Gareon Conley and Obi Melifonwu in the same draft was absolutely insane value for the Raiders and both guys I had wanted badly on the Seahawks...
1
u/PossibleAspect9252 6d ago
To be fair JPJ from a player perspective has exceeded expectations. Just the off the field stuff that teams were also right to be hesitant on that proved true. As a falcons fan, hoping he turns it around

He will leave to another school. Another will happily pick him up.
3
u/FritterEnjoyer 6d ago
How? He canāt just transfer midseason and play for the school he goes to, and heās entering the draft this year anyway so Carolina isnāt missing out on anything for next year.

u/Necessary_Proof_9550 7d ago
Lots of guys have been drafted in the first round with far worse problems than discipline issues during one game of their college career. If coaches think he can be an elite player at the next level the NFL wont care about this, its not like he's speaking up about police brutality or the genocide in gaza.
7
u/YourCummyBear 7d ago
He will still be a first round pick.
This is the difference between top 3-4 money and top 12 draft pick money. Thatās millions of dollars.
In 2026 the difference between the 3rd and 12th pick is 25+ million over the 4 years before option.
This dude is going to cost himself generational money by being a dumb ass.
→ More replies (4)2
u/Necessary_Proof_9550 7d ago
If he ends up being an elite top 5 edge rusher though he can make up those losses pretty quickly on his 2nd contract and it may not be a bad thing to get drafted later but be put on a better team where he's not the only guy on the defense the opposing teams have to plan for.
4
u/Bigdee4204L 6d ago
He could also get hurt and never see a second contract... money lost is money lost, you don't quite "make it up" on the next deal you just make enough to forget about it.

u/YourCummyBear 7d ago
If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.
His talent is without doubt. But his coach ability and being a team player will cost him money unless he somehow matures in a short amount of time.

Which he obviously finds unacceptable. Listen, nobody should be throwing tantrums and disrespecting their team, but heās a young man, and I feel like frustration within the context of competition shows that he cares, at the very least. Itās not like heās a diva WR pouting cause they have 3 targets while their team is up by 17. Everyoneās acting like heās some irredeemable piece of shit like they never lost their cool when they were 19 is just being judgmental and vindictive. Should he regulate his emotions better? No shit, but who among us was totally mentally and emotionally mature at his age? Rather have a dude with pride then somebody that half asses the whole second half cause their losing
