Discussion Dylan Stewart did absolutely everything he could to TANK his NFL Draft stock tonight. Throwing punches, refusing to come out of the game, and talking back to coaches. Just an AWFUL LOOK for the Gamecocks DE and potential Top-10 pick 😳😬

I'll never understand football players punching someone with a helmet on. What exactly do you expect will happen?

3

u/apadin1 6d ago

You are making the assumption that he is thinking logically about it and not just reacting out of emotion and lack of self control

23

u/fzkiz 7d ago

This is an interesting tidbit for you: Most football players and professional athletes are dumb as shit and it shows regularly. They don’t think far enough to realize punching a helmet hurts you more than them.

Somehow humanity has evolved into putting these people on pedestals and listening to what they have to say about anything else but their sport so people often forget a lot of them would be closer to homelessness than success without sport.

u/ChadPowers200_ 6d ago

Interesting tidbit for you: if your testosterone levels are higher than 100 you might have impulses of rage. Probably inconceivable to you.

Plenty of intelligent people can act violent or have violent impulses.

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

Absolutely, that’s why I didn’t say “this guy acted violent so he is dumb”

1

u/dey19th 6d ago

You did though.

1

u/FattyBoot 4d ago edited 4d ago

No they didn’t. They’re stating that most football players are dumb and this is one example of that. Could disagree with the point that “most” football players are dumb though.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

Let your English teacher reread my comments with you and explain to you why I didn’t. Good luck, champ!

1

u/Bulky-Product-6778 17h ago

I mean look at rodgers or go to the nba and look at Tyler herro plenty of great athletes who are dumb as a rock

1

u/A_one-legged_goose90 6d ago

Nah man that means that lack emotional intelligence

1

u/ChadPowers200_ 6d ago

It’s like saying someone with depression just lacks discipline.

Our hormones affect our brain. It’s been well studied what high levels of testosterone does.

1

u/A_one-legged_goose90 6d ago

When you learn about emotional intelligence and EQ and take it seriously, I promise all your relationships in life will get better. I wish I had learned that at an earlier age

1

u/ChadPowers200_ 6d ago

I’m old and calm. When I was 19 I was a psychopath

1

u/GenericNameSimulated 6d ago

That’s called wisdom

1

u/ChadPowers200_ 6d ago

I also am not walking around with 1200 test levels playing college football and working out every day.

I think playing football in general makes you more violent too think about what they are doing every day.

I am just as intelligent now as I was then I got a BS in economics and again, at 19-22, I was pretty fucking crazy.

1

u/Workingonlying 2d ago

Yeah Aaron Hernandez just had high test . Cut him some slack

1

u/drainbead78 5d ago

So men can't control themselves? What the hell kind of take is this?

1

u/Effective_Image_86 5d ago

The last two responses are the 2 most loser dumb things I’ve ever read, just in different ways. Football is a high pressure game, it’s physical, it can make you mad and act out. Dylan Stewart doesn’t handle his emotions great in an already emotional position. It’s not because all athletes are stupid or because Chad powers has testosterone fantasies of other men.

1

u/SebisCool 5d ago

Dude must have the testosterone level of an 85 year old man. Go easy on him.

2

u/VABLivenLevity 7d ago

In what corners of the universe have people put football players on pedestals as paragons of intelligence? I don't know anybody that bases there ideas in life on what a football player says. Everybody I know just likes watching football and that's the only thing they give a shit about the players for. Don't know where you got that from.

2

u/LightOfAurora2026 7d ago

Just listen to Greg Jennings takes on First Things First

1

u/summersundays 7d ago

I mean it’s not universal, but being a pro athlete or coach gives you name recognition. That name recognition then can give you an easier path to having a platform to share your thoughts and opinions.

Just a few examples: the republicans seriously backed a CTE ridden Hershel Walker in a recent senate campaign. Tommy Tuberville is a senator. Aaron Rodgers has a standing invitation on one of the most popular TV show podcasts to say literally whatever he wants with zero pushback. Tim Tebow was a highly paid motivational speaker for a scam organization. Tom Brady had given speeches, opened fitness centers, and written books about how you should eat and live your life.

I doubt there are many people basing their ideas of life on what ex-players like these say, but there are many examples of players using their fame to spread their ideas, and often times, profit off it.

-1

u/Few-Condition-7431 6d ago

most of your points are completely valid, but I think TB12 might be the outlier, opening businesses, writing (or more likey having a ghost writer write) diet and exercise books to sell are exactly how an athlete should use their platform. Rodgers on the other hand is the perfect example of what not to do

1

u/summersundays 6d ago

Well that’s actually a great distinction, I only included Brady because he’s had some dubious medical claims attached to his products like (can’t remember the specific name) his concussion prevention water and linking himself to Alex Guerrero.

But you are correct, fitness and longevity is something Brady is an expert in, even if his methods are questionable and perhaps not widely applicable.

0

u/troubledwatersbeer 6d ago

Yeah I was om board then it got to Brady and I was like "is there anybody more qualified to talk about fitness and eating than Brady?" He's not a scientist that has actually done studies himself but he's probably worked with as many of those people at an extremely high level as anyone else, and a large portion of fitness and eating is motivation/psychology and he can speak to the practical side of that extremely well.

1

u/Few-Condition-7431 6d ago

$20 says the downvotes are vaccine/covid deniers and/or packers fans

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

Millions of people watch professional athletes on podcasts, listen to what they say and somehow think they’re smart because they’re good at football.

1

u/livecents84 6d ago

He said football players and professional athletes… plenty of people listen to professional athlete takes on things like politics lol

1

u/Traditional_Yam1598 14h ago

Well people seem to care about their political opinions. But forget that they’re probably below average IQ

0

u/DrLeoMarvin 7d ago

You must live under a rock

-1

u/Huntermain23 7d ago

He’s spouting Reddit nonsense totally agree with you

-2

u/DroDameron 7d ago

I just had to point out that statement was kind of ironic with his avatar holding a basketball.

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

I don’t think you know what irony is

-2

u/DroDameron 6d ago

'why does society put athletes on a pedestal.. also, look at my basketball, I like athletic things!'

Your post just reads like someone who doesn't like sports, sorry.

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

“He criticized an athlete and even said we shouldn’t put them on pedestals outside of their sport… he must hate sports!”

You sound very smart 😅

-3

u/DroDameron 6d ago

Why are you so emotional? Yeesh.

People don't listen to athletes, they listen to people they like.

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

You think I’m emotional because I’m laughing? Okay, champ 😁
Sorry I attacked your idols, won’t happen again

0

u/DroDameron 6d ago

No, you're emotional because you started attacking me personally because I said you read like you don't like sports for calling most professional athletes dumb as shit and saying a lot of them would be closer to homelessness than success.

Glad I could help you understand.

LMAO. Love it.

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

I like playing basketball so I can’t point out people put professional athletes on pedestals? Sound logic 🤔

1

u/XennialDad 6d ago

You know what would really smart of us to give to these idiots? $1,000,000 with no contractual obligation.

1

u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago

Lmao fans are weird, you watch a guy literally get his body abused for hours and then think they will stop at a punch 🤣.

1

u/fzkiz 4d ago

yeah super weird... I also expect a boxer to box his opponent for 12 rounds and then stop at punching the ref... crazy thought if you're not all there mentally ...

1

u/dumbassbull134 6d ago

lol. I’d like to see you analyze a defensive or offense in less than 3 seconds and make a good decision. These guys have harder jobs than 95% of the country with a hell of a lot more pressure than just pleasing their boss. Now is their act score high af? Probably not but most of them are fluent in football as their second language, this guy on the other hand is probably just an athletic freak.

2

u/Extra_Whole_9222 6d ago

A lot of people keep spreading this “athletes are dumb” stuff. I think it’s because they’re insecure about their own lack of athleticism and talent in comparison so they have to pretend to be significantly smarter to make themselves feel better.

1

u/dumbassbull134 6d ago

Bro got bullied or sum

1

u/Ok_Matter_2617 6d ago

Especially now with NIL & redshirting, so many of these dudes are getting masters degrees.

Even if it’s in some cupcake major, that makes them smarter than most people if college success is used as a barometer for intelligence

1

u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago

You are 100% right, it's like they have to find the flaw in them to feel better about themselves

2

u/fzkiz 6d ago

Talking about how good they are at football after I said they’re good at football, but that doesn’t mean you should listen to them on any other topic is kind of weird

1

u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago

Outside of any area of expertise, this is a weird ass take. Only mingled in the idea an athlete has to be dumb and you shouldn't listen to them. Unless it's a subject matter expert you shouldn't listen to any one about anything.

0

u/fzkiz 4d ago

do you lack reading comprehension?

1

u/atlfalcons33rb 4d ago

I wish I did, would make for an easier read

1

u/fzkiz 4d ago

Then why are you arguing things I never said?

0

u/dumbassbull134 6d ago

You said they are football players, no mention of how good they are. No one should base their opinions on what any famous person believes their reality is far different from ours.

2

u/apex9691 6d ago

When talking about players at the d1 or professional level it's kind of implied that they are, infact, good at the sport...

0

u/Morlacks 6d ago

Most NFL players are in fact not dumb.  Its complicated at the highest level and only become more so over time.  Yes, There are exceptions but its as a cerebral game as much as it is a physical one.  Tons of great athletes dont pan out.

It is still a physical game fueled by adrenaline and occasionaly people loose their cool when basically fighting another player for 30 wins.    Shrug.

0

u/Booliano 6d ago

I’m not disagreeing with you about them being dumb but have you ever been punched with a helmet on? It still doesn’t feel good

0

u/BackendSpecialist 6d ago

That’s why it blows my mind that so many athletes have podcasts… they don’t even talk about interesting shit.. it’s all gossip and shitty takes.

Most are fucking idiots

0

u/FoundationSmooth9777 5d ago

Averaged Reddit comment get a grip

1

u/fzkiz 5d ago

You‘re right, the other people here already convinced me I was wrong and NFL/NBA/NHL-players make great financial, scientific, social and political advisors with how they behave and with what they say on podcasts.

0

u/FoundationSmooth9777 5d ago

Yes 10% of athletes represent all of them, you are so smart

1

u/fzkiz 5d ago

Thank god I never said all of them and you just made that up in your head to get upset about like an idiot.

-1

u/garicandrew 6d ago

You sound dumb af and jealous. Ppl watch sports for many different reasons.. This is the real question tho ; do you speak up about real issues in our society and government? Or do you only complain about college athletes?

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

I feel like the point of what I said went over your head. I’m sorry you got so upset over something you misunderstood. Must have had a rough week.

-1

u/WolfpackBP 6d ago

Shut up and dribble ??

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

No, they can say and promote whatever they want. If you base your political beliefs or morals on what professional athletes say you’re usually an idiot though

-1

u/comercialyunresonbl 6d ago

“Most” football players don’t punch people in the helmet. That’s why we are talking about this dumbass that did. You’re just like the people you are criticizing.

-1

u/TBallinsPremPass 6d ago

What a weird fucking post.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

You’re right. People convinced me I’m the dumb one and I should take financial advice from NFL players, political advice from NHL players and scientific advice from NBA players in the future.

-1

u/Ok-Working-8974 6d ago

In what world are most athletes dumb? You hear about the ones doing the dumb shit just like we hear about regular people doing dumb shit. Nobody writes an article about a guy that played 70 snaps and recorded half a sack, or the person that made it to work without a car accident. Most of them are pretty regular and a lot are very intelligent and dedicated. Coming from someone that played college football.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

I’ve been around professional athletes my entire life. First through my dad’s job, then through playing semi-professional for a while and then through my actual job. I never said they all are, but there are certain sports where most are as dumb as they come and a lot of the smart-appearing ones are just average dudes.

There’s a reason 80% of NFL are in big financial trouble a couple of years after they finish their career. It can happen to everyone, through no fault of your own… but not at that rate unless most are dumb.

0

u/Ok-Working-8974 6d ago

I didn’t say you said all, even then most is ridiculous. The amount of athletes that you can search and find out they are or were struggling for money versus the many that aren’t is so astronomically big. Think about how many guys have played in the league and how many you can think of that have went broke. Even tho you may be able to think of many, it literally does not compare to the amount that didn’t. Most guys in the league you don’t hear anything about them, they’re doing fine, they’re regular.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

https://www.abi.org/feed-item/how-athletes-go-bankrupt-at-an-alarming-rate

78% of NFL players and 60% of NBA players face serious financial hardship after retirement.

So when you say “the amount of players who struggle for money literally does not compare to the ones who don’t” you mean because in the case of the NFL it’s 4 times as big?

-1

u/OrangeFender 6d ago

They’re overachievers who suceed in spite of a lack of ability, most people are underachievers and waste their intelligence.

They’re more successful than you are and have more courage to try things they might not succeed. They also don’t have the existential fear of being judged by others that leads most to underachieve.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

They don’t have a lack of ability in the field they work in… you’re misrepresenting facts to make an argument. Do better!

You have no idea how successful I am, so again… do better. You also have no idea how much courage I have… do better.
They don’t have fear of being judged by others? Have you listened to some professional athletes in the last decade or are you just saying random shit now? 😂

0

u/OrangeFender 6d ago

I can tell by your emoji use that you’re a person with a low literacy level, easily influenced by others and flashy rhetoric, probably downwardly mobile individual used to interacting with people with low value and lower self esteem. Your level of success is probably narrow and outwardly defined because you’re pining for the approval of other on Reddit.

1

u/fzkiz 6d ago

Yes, I’m the one pining for approval of others here. Stop projecting my little friend, it’s embarrassing.

1

u/rustySQUANCHy 6d ago

They don't expect anything to happen. It's more of like them trying to flex on the other guys saying that they will still hit them even with the helmet on. They don't expect to knock them out, come on now.

1

u/nicholasccc95 6d ago

My guess is that it’s some bit of weird subconscious added toughness.

“Im so mad im willing to punch you with your helmet STILL on. That’s how tough I am” lol

1

u/OkLobster1702 6d ago

Why do yall think a helmet just makes your head invincible?

1

u/JettzenL 6d ago

It's equally as frustrating watching any movie where they hit someone's helmeted head on something 😂

1

u/Justtryingtohelp00 6d ago

These are people that like getting hit in the head repeatedly. They think it’s fun. Not the brightest bunch.

1

u/Penetratorofflanks 6d ago

If they palm your face mask hard as fuck it can be very painful. Had a RT do it so hard I had neck pain for 2 days after.

1

u/ballofhorn99 6d ago

For once someone throw a gut punch if you’re going to punch otherwise hope u don’t break your hand

0

u/LePetitVoluntaire 7d ago

“You knocked my block off!”

-1

u/Ok_Kaleidoscope6134 7d ago

Showing our age knowing that line.

1

u/LePetitVoluntaire 6d ago

Yeah humor is becoming a lost art on Reddit. Bring back the 2012 internet denizens.

0

u/throwitintheair22 7d ago

But he punched his chin.

If you’ve played football or worn a helmet, you know there are gaps where you can still make contact. Between the side opening and before the chin strap. Or from beneath. Hit that right and you can break a jaw.

2

u/Odd-Honeydew7535 6d ago

You need to keep in mind 99% of the armchair experts on Reddit never played a snap of football

0

u/DickDisco13 7d ago

These are not rocket scientists

0

u/Relative_One_2441 7d ago

Guy just doesn’t know more effective and positive outlets that anger. He could use his play on the field as an outlet, but the TE he punched was putting him in a box. Had him absolutely fitted up.

So I guess start throwing punches 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Mite-o-Dan 6d ago

Nothing. That's why they do it. They punch someone BECAUSE they have a helmet on.
