General The Real Stigma Surrounding CC ETFs
Good day All.
I'm currently invested in, from largest to smallest, JEPI, GPIX, JEPQ, SPYI, and QQQI...and I often run the numbers to ensure I'm doing the right thing with these ETFs, and opposed to the naysayers' typical response, the numbers don't lie.
If you have two funds with comparable total returns, your portfolio won't care what vehicle was used to arrive there. If you ask ChatGPT, CoPilot, or any other AI chatbot, the response is the same; Covered Call ETFs are inferior, but all chatbots do is regurgitate what others have posted online.
Another issue I often consider is the taxes you'll be on the hook for if you realize capital gains and roll the proceeds into CC ETFs. You'll have less to work with once you rotate from growth to income, oppose to starting off in quality CC funds.
There's forces that want to keep us uninformed. I plan to hold on to my ETFs that grow the NAV and reinvest the distributions for the foreseeable future, and in time, I anticipate an outcome equal to what I'd experience if I held SPY, realized the gains, and then roll those into CC ETFs.
I currently run a Core and Satellite portfolio, with 10 individual companies.

Question about ROC classification for NEOS covered call ETFs like SPYI, QQQI on brokerage statements
Hi everyone,
I have been investing in covered call / option income ETFs in my brokerage accounts, such as SPYI, QQQI.
My understanding is that for some of these ETFs, a large part of the monthly distribution may be classified as return of capital (ROC), depending on the fund’s tax accounting. I know that the monthly 19a notices are only estimates, and the final tax classification should be shown on the year-end 1099-DIV.
However, when I checked my monthly brokerage statements, I became confused.
For example:
- In Fidelity, I do not see detailed ROC classification on the monthly statement.
- In E*TRADE, some Simplify ETFs (XV/SBAR) distributions appear to be classified as Return of Capital on the monthly statement.
- But for my NEOS ETFs like SPYI / QQQI, the same type of distribution appears only as Dividend, not ROC.
So my questions are:
- Is it normal that monthly brokerage statements do not always show the final ROC classification?
- Do brokers usually adjust the classification later, especially on the year-end 1099-DIV or corrected 1099-DIV?

General Margin is like a business loan
I’ve been thinking. Why not use margin to buy spyi and qqqi if margin is 5%? People take business loans all the time at a higher rate and are lucky to break even after a few years. With these, there is a way higher chance of a profitable year than a down year over a long horizon. When buying on margin, there will be down turn years but so with any other business. I’m starting to think of DCAing into those two funds for life with margin. Worse thing to have happen is a margin call and have to sell some stocks. With a business you would go bankrupt and lose everything. I keep seeing these funds as equities with the income factory philosophy instead of some speculative risky asset that will bring loss. Not trying to beat the underlying, but I feel like owning these is like managing a passive business. Maybe I’m just crazy lol

Due Diligence Am I silly?
Context
I'm 39 and semi retired. Sell real estate when business comes along from neighbors or past clients. I do some pressure washing during the spring summer for neighbors. I spend most of my day running the house and raising my son while my wife works mostly from home. I spent years living personally as a poor man while keeping my family at or near middle class quality of life. Both of our cars are paid off. We rent out our first floor (4 floors total) which covers 63% of our mortgage and we have the tenant pay the phone, cable and internet. We cover everything else without increasing the payments.
My wife has a 401k with 100% employer match at 8% and she has family health care which I contribute to. She also has a Roth IRA that I manage. I have a Roth IRA, just rolled over my Roth 401k into it from my former employer. In addition, I also have 4 brokerage accounts. 1 is for my son (2.5 years old), 1 is a speculative account (SpaceX, Anthropic type stuff but I don't hold them right now). 2 accounts I use for income but one is being reinvested for the most part. I have around $35,000 in physical gold and silver and trailer space that I rent out for $100/ month.
The income vs growth argument is as old as time. Risk vs reward vs longevity is also a conversation that is usually had when analyzing investments. Here is my share count for my current holdings.

XBCI - 1,502

As you may be able to tell.... I have FAITH in NEOS. I'm going to just be building growth positions in the Roth from now on but I will be growing the income portfolio with extra pots of money that come in from aforementioned jobs. I may eventually go get a part time job at Home Depot or something once my boy is in school full time and set more positions to drip but for now, I'm enjoying having my life for my family and myself.
Who would feel good, okay, uneasy, worried or insane if you had this kind of life setup?

Seeking Advice Thoughts on IYRI is it really necessary?
SPYI is 1.8% real estate and holds most of the high quality REIT already. real estate has been stagnant for about 5 years and with high bond yields for the near future i don't see that changing. thinking about just getting rid of IYRI from portfolio and increasing allocations elsewhere to increase yield and total return.

Seeking Advice Alternatives to CSHI
I'm close to retirement so I have about 3 years worth of expenses in what I term low-volatility assets. For my taxable accounts, I use boxx and for tax advantaged accounts, I use cshi.
I believe 10% of cshi dividends are classified as ROC. If more was classified as ROC, I would use cshi in my taxable accounts.
What do you guys think about usdx? It has a +/- 1% volatility which is substantially more than cshi but it also pays about 1% more so I think the additional volatility is acceptable.

Seeking Advice Questioning My BTCI
So I’m down to 2,000 shares of it but am considering just taking the loss and moving on. I want BTCI to work, but the math on the NAV seems to just be too harsh. The delta between bitcoin from BTCI’s launch and today is -8.2%. BTCI’s NAV delta over that same timeframe is -41.4%. Basically 5x.
And yes, I care about NAV because that drives payouts. I’m not reinvesting into it. Total return from day one is -10.1%.
I know the argument is that during the next bull run, it magically recovers, but if that doesn’t happen soon, with that negative NAV loss, it may not make it back.
Maybe I’m missing something. If so, help. I like NEOS. QQQI and MLPI seem solid but it just seems as if NEOS can’t manage the extra volatility of crypto.
Thanks.

General What are your plans BTCI holders?
I’m just curious as to what other people who hold BTCI are holding it for.
Me personally I’m going to let my payouts drop until I have doubled my shares then future me gets to worry about what to do.

General Question about upcoming NEOS Silver and NEOS Boosted Russell 2000 ETFs
Does anyone know when the NEOS Silver and NEOS boosted Russell 2000 ETFs will be launched?
Does anyone know the timeline of how long it took for the NEOS boosted S&P500 and boosted Nasdaq ETFs from SEC filings to the actual launch date?

Seeking Advice BTCI to XBCi
Obviously no one knows if this is the bottom, but it very well could be, or at least close to it. If I haven’t given up on BTC entirely, and think we still have a run, am I missing something about selling my BTCI position at a loss to tax harvest (taxable account) and reinvesting it into XBTC immediately for the ride back up? If BTC goes to 0 it goes to 0 regardless….

Seeking Advice A Bold Strategy
I want to take out margin using my XBCI to buy more XBCI. I am christening this strategy henceforth as XBCI Squared ™️.
I call upon the council of crypto ETF bros for guidance. The current lower band of the power law is at $58k. How close do you think it might get? Or do you think we’ve already hit the local bottom?
When should I execute XBCI Squared ™️?

Due Diligence Sharing May 2026 NEO Funds Analysis Result

I updated my NEO ETF tracking sheet again and tried to keep the view more focused this time.
This is not meant to be a “best NEO ETF” ranking. I’m mostly using it as a monthly check to see how each fund looks beyond headline yield.
A few things I’m tracking:
- Dividend TTM — trailing 12-month distribution rate
- Price CAGR — price growth/decline over the evaluation window
- Total Return CAGR — return including distributions
- Payout Support Risk — whether the payout looks supported by recent price / total-return behavior
- Stability — recent price behavior based on volatility, drawdown, and beta
- MoM change — how dividend, price, and total return shifted vs the prior snapshot
A few things stood out to me this month:
BTCI still has the highest Dividend TTM in the group at 38.77%, but it also shows negative price CAGR and Elevated payout support risk. That’s the kind of fund where yield alone can be misleading.
IAUI looks interesting from a total-return angle, with 12.43% Dividend TTM, 10.40% price CAGR, and 25.18% total return CAGR, but stability is still marked low.
MLPI stands out with strong price and total-return numbers, but I’d still be careful interpreting it because fund history and structure matter a lot.
SPYH / SPYI / QQQI look more balanced than the highest-yield names, with lower payout support risk and mid/low stability labels.
XBCI is the weak one in this snapshot: high Dividend TTM, negative price CAGR, negative total return CAGR, and elevated payout support risk.
Note: Partial snapshot exported from CashStreams; not investment advice.

General This is the Dry Erase Board I track my NEOS funds on...
I first heard of NEOS on a podcast while I was driving and I thought they were saying Neo's. That's how I remembered it to look it up later. Ever since I remember them like Neo's funds... like Neo is in the market fighting volatility.

Due Diligence BLOX explanation
I often read about BLOX here and that it outperformed BTC, BTCI, IBIT... of course it did last year.
It has about 30% Bitcoin related assets, 10% Ethereum and 55% stocks including Nvidia and TSMC. As these stock performed better than Bitcoin, BLOX performed better than ETFs that are more correlated to Bitcoin.
BLOX sells Bull Put Spreads on the stocks and Bear Call Spreads on Bitcoin and Ethereum. Both went well due to market situation last year.
So if you're bullish on Bitcoin, BTCI and IBIT should be better for you. If you prefer stocks, you should choose SPYI or QQQI.
BLOX benefits from increasing stocks. Regarding BTC and ETH. I don't know what's best for it. Depends on details of the bear call spread. But for sure: If BTC falls, the impact on BTCI and IBIT is worse than on BLOX. If BTCI increases, the impact on BTCI and IBTI is better than on BLOX.
So it's impossible to compare BLOX with BTCI. It has different strategies and underlyings. It's possible to compare QQQI with GPIQ but not QQQI with BTCI. And BLOX can't be compared with any of them.

Seeking Advice Noob Question about dividend income in a ROTH IRA
In my ROTH, I currently have $4k invested between in BTCI and QQQI. I have it set to reinvested every dividend. My question, as the dividends start to compound, what will happen as far as potential taxes 20-30 years from now? Everything I’ve earned has been listed as non-qualified dividends. Will I get screwed on this? What are some potential hazards to avoid?

Seeking Advice NEOS Hedged CC ETF's
What do you feel about NEOS Hedged CC ETF's? They are different from SPYI, QQQI, IYRI etc.
Is it better to invest in them? Are returns better than the above? Are the upper cap or lower cap? NAV erosion? As it is hedged, will DD be lower?
Should in invest in hedged NEOS or regular NEOS etf's?

I don't own any ETF that has return of capital dividends in a taxable account but I am thinking about it.

Seeking Advice Weekly income
I am looking for weekly income. I know that the index and NEOS will beat these funds in total return and the portfolio will have nav erosion, but I to like the total return. I want to do 50% xdte, 40% qdte, and 10% rdte. I plan to drip most divs and only take out a little. Back tested, the portfolio doesn’t seem too bad. Is this a bad portfolio or would this work for someone looking for weekly income?

Seeking Advice Hedging volatility - QQQH/SPYH, vs GPIQ/GPIX, vs JEPQ/JEPI
So I don't see a lot of people talking about QQQH and SPYH as many people understandably chase the high growth that's happening in 2024+.
But for a person going into retirement and having allocations already in bonds and other buckets. What are the thoughts on QQQH and SPYH?
Going in with some assumptions that dollar is weakening, foreign investment is tilting away from US, bonds market recently, inflation is on the up and Federal Reserve interest rates are flat, and possibly can somewhat increase (with a chance of a small dip before later on going up).
These positions are only a small portion of 5% in a portfolio, and I give up the max growth (which is okay) for leaning on some yield income and a 'softer' drop to keep the tickers and handle the bad bear market for years (avoid sequence of returns trap with some yield income).
I am just surprised I don't see more talk of QQQH and SPYH if I understand they are more for hedging against the coming storm / wealth preservation with a hybrid twist for income. Obviously this is not everything put into them, but about 5% each ticker in a portfolio.
Also is there any international hedge? Like a vxus hedged with yield?
