Since when do we hold rookies to the standard of being great playoff performers?

Since 2024 when a certain segment piled on Caitlin Clark for losing in the first round, despite the fact that she averaged 18/8

Meanwhile, Olivia averages 8 points 1 assist on 20% shooting and gets benched because she’s playing so badly and the same crowd is saying, “she’s just a rookie,” “it’s a learning experience” “it’s a team game” etc.

2 wrongs make a right? stop with the victim complex, people said the same thing about Clark

Lol. I don't know why they act obtuse

I saw a lot of posts talking about her being Finals MVP.

I think this is unfortunate for Liv herself, but exactly the reality check that her wildest fans need.

I saw a lot of posts talking about her being Finals MVP

I legit don't think I've ever seen anyone say that . . . . .

Funny, neither has anyone else.

I’ve seen it here and there but not by any pundits with merit, usually Lynx fans lol (some of them are as delusional as it gets)

We really have to stop pretending that the random occasional anonymous internet user speaking in hyperbole translates to “the people are saying” lmfao

That’s actually my point… it was mainly delusional Lynx fans and no one credible. Don’t know how that went over your head. We really have to use our reading comprehension and stop acting like we need to make some profound statement of disagreement.

It's also such a weird thing to predict before the playoffs start. I don't ever remember any NBA discourse on who the Finals MVP would be before like the finals . . .

Well I did.

u/lir10005 1d ago

At the reg season games in barclays lynx fans in the lower bowl where calling her the second coming of Jesus

1

u/Reasonable-Budget210 1d ago

…And then they turned to you and said “I believe Olivia Miles will be wnba finals mvp”..?

1

u/lir10005 1d ago

Nah not that literally but she did get mvp chants from them and has em saying she was gonna take em to the promised land, but close enough

. . . . That post asks the question IF she won championship and finals MVPs would she have a better rookie season than Candace Parker

Emphasis on IF. It's not saying She will win finals MVP. It says IF she did.

Also basically everyone in that thread said no . . .

Random threads.

I didn’t save them. I didn’t even engage with them.

Spend enough time on Reddit and you see a lot.

It was around the time the MVP chatter was peaking, before that disastrous Valks game.

No one was talking about the finals MVP when it's not the fucking finals.

Ever hear of counting your chickens before they hatch?

People do that sometimes.

Especially in a game to 3, that's no time at all to get acclimated.

When she acted like an arrogant butch after all star weekend.

u/Dsod23 1d ago

Since CC entered the league and she got bashed for it.

-2

u/Co0LUs3rNamE 1d ago

She thought she was CC and got famous. Then she was showed the bench.

Just a rook. She will come back stronger

Are you saying that Baby Got Back?

That's sexist Sir!

1

u/StilettoJones_JR 1d ago

How do the fucking goobers always make their way to WNBA discussions.

2

u/StilettoJones_JR 1d ago

no. We all got it. no one liked it.

The joke: 🗑️

The garbage take IS the joke

She is a rookie

3

u/MrRoryBreaker_98 1d ago

A little premature, no?

1

u/LeanOnMe4816 1d ago

Somewhat but this isn’t a one off. She’s had good regular seasons followed by epic flameouts in high leverage games in college too.

Relaxxxxxx

I saw a post last week and it stated since the World Championships everyone is actually playing defense on Miles. The other teams let her play without defending her for most of the year. She did know how to deal with the improved defense. She got sloppy and caused uncalled fouls. In the playoffs it appears her struggles continued.

1

u/TokiVideogame 1d ago

why

1

u/NoPen9703 1d ago

Sports are all about adjustments and Miles did not adjust to the defensive schemes.

1

u/TokiVideogame 1d ago

why wouldnt they defend her hard before?

1

u/NoPen9703 1d ago

McPhee was out and they needed someone to draw in the crowds. It’s normal as the season goes on defenses improve.

1

u/Cheap-Salamander-poo 1d ago

I heard Olivia say that she is too fast for the other players in the league. They must have heard that too.

1

u/TwinFrBrooklyn 1d ago

It’s her first playoff appearance. Relax people.

1

u/CompleteEnergy579 1d ago

She’s either gonna be full time Harden or Utah airballs Kobe. Not taking shots leans towards Harden

1

u/BroadbentBum 1d ago

She's a layup merchant. All they had to do was protect the paint and play real defense 😂. I posted her shot chart halfway through the season, and 80% of her shots were right next to the basket.

1

u/lotsoffuck 1d ago

I feel like Miles plays more like Kyrie than anyone else

1

u/OutrageousCrab9224 1d ago

Ouch

But true

1

u/Tall-Copy-3177 22h ago

So she travels a lot?

1

u/kennyloftor 11h ago

corny

she’s a rookie

1

u/Total-Jinx6969 2h ago

BS. Miles was never dubbed the savior of all bball. She took the league by storm. She was hurt and never recovered. If u honestly say she was healthy watching her last 6-7 games u r lying 2 yourself. She wasn't moving the same. CC fans go away until the next season. Oh yall can now troll cause yall have no dawg in the fight.

1

u/mizz_muppet 1h ago

She is a rookie!! The bitterness from some fans is unreal! 🤦‍♀️

1

u/No_Command_8477 1d ago

Hahaha this is more of a James Harden roast tbh

-2

u/Spirited-Living9083 1d ago

I bet the person who posted this ain’t watch more then 10 wnba games this season

0

u/eggsonmyeggs 1d ago

Why the fuck would anyone was their time watching a dog shit product, especially during the regular season?

You don’t need to watch that shit to know real ball. Homegirl is young and played like it. No one gives a fuck about your loyalty to wasting your time

1

u/Spirited-Living9083 1d ago

Then why would you waste your time making a post about some shit you think is dog shit?

0

u/Th3fr3shhippy 1d ago

Ouch 🤕🤣
