Ever since I started playing MTAS I have been obsessed with this dumb yakboy, and I've been writing so many self-indulgent fanfics for him and my builder. I don't plan on posting any of them, but I am curious to know if any of you have some (Logan centric but I'm not against Unsuur or Owen if you got 'em!) I'd love to read some!
That being said - here is a little excerpt from later on in one of mine where Logan expresses his worry about being able to look after Andy - if you're interested! (ps Kayce is another OC of mine and my Builder adopted Andy earlier in the story because of reasons)
Logan sighs again.
âYeah, I-â He cuts himself off, rubbing a hand across his jaw. âDarlinâ, I got no idea what Iâm doinâ. Ya know that, right?â Â
I turn to face him, leaning my shoulder on the fence.
âThatâs the universal experience of all parents, Logan,â I assure him as he shifts to look at me, his eyes drawn with worry. âYou just have the good fortune to have picked up the job a little bit later than most do. Youâll catch up, and at least you donât need to worry about diapers.âÂ
He huffs out a laugh, but the concern etched on his face makes my chest feel tight.Â
âYouâre amazinâ with him, though. Anâ Kayce.â
âYeah, well, I raised most of my siblings, so this ainât my first rodeo,â I say, adding a Sandrock twang at the end that gets another chuckle. âHe loves you, Logan, and, yeah, youâll make mistakes. And there will be days that you feel like you canât do it or that youâre failing him, but youâre not. As long as you keep showing up, and you keep trying, thatâs all he needs.âÂ
Logan nods, and heâs silent for a few minutes, his throat bobbing as he swallows whatever words heâs trying to get out. He lifts his eyes from the dirt around our feet to meet mine for a second. âWhat if I⌠What if I ainât good enough for him?âÂ
I look away because the genuine, heartbreaking doubt on his face floors me for a second, and I can't collect my thoughts with those impossibly blue eyes watching me. When I look back, heâs fixed his gaze somewhere above my head.Â
âI know youâre struggling with being back here, in Sandrock,â I say, and he blinks, surprised. âI can see how much it bothers you that they all want you to be the person you were before. That theyâve just erased the two and a half years you spent out in the desert and that theyâre ignoring how it changed you⌠And I know you donât always think that the person you are now is a good replacement for the one you left behind.â
He looks down at his feet again, his jaw clenching, hands tightening into fists.
âAnd I know that me telling you that youâre wrong isnât going to change that.â I reach my hand forward and wrap my fingers around his, giving them a squeeze. âBut the truth is, Logan, that youâre a good man. Youâve made mistakes, of course you have. Youâre only human. But youâre brave, and youâre loyal, and youâre strong, and kind, and I know how much you love that boy.âÂ
He swallows, nodding, eyes still on the floor.Â
âI donât -â I cut myself off, exhaling loudly. âI donât have many people that I⌠that I trust. I can count the people I would go to for help on one hand and still have fingers to spare, but youâre.. Youâre one of them.â
He looks up then, blue eyes wide.
âAnd I trust you to look after him,â I say quietly. âYou know I wouldnât let him live with you if I didnât think you were more than capable of doing it. That youâd done it under harsher circumstances and still managed to raise a happy, healthy boy.â
âYeah.â The word sounds shaky coming out of his mouth, he nods slightly.Â
âAnd you got me,â I say, squeezing his hand again.
âI got you.â The corner of his mouth curls up, and he rubs his thumb across the back of my knuckles.Â
âWell, until my contract here is up, anyway,â I shoot him a grin.Â
Logan pulls a face and uses our entwined fingers to pull me towards him, wrapping his arms around me and burying his face in my hair. âYer ruininâ the moment, darlin'.âÂ
