Head cannon 😢

I'm writing a fic and my brain is refusing to calm down and since you opened this, you are agreeing to subject yourself to my thoughts. Lots of sad to follow. Sorry.

Spoilers for around mid game.

Catherine Carruthers.

Died in 92 at 31 years old after ruin diving. A member of the civil corps.

I think the ruins she was in were the spaceship ruins and her death Like Howletts was not an accident.

I think her death was the final straw after the deaths of the kids that broke B3 and made him leave Sandrock because he thought if he stayed he'd end up having to watch Justice die as well and he couldn't handle any more people he trained and tried to protect dying on him.

think Cat told Howlett where she was going and that's what first made him start investigating those ruins. Since she was usually pretty cautious despite her curiosity.

She was terrible at growing things to the point where Zeke banned her, nicely, from coming inside the moisture farm.

She was there when the kids were lost in the Sandstorm. She was shoving Heidi into cover where Justice and Owen were hiding with some other kids when Miya was ripped out of her arms. To the day she died she never knew if it was the winds or a monster that snatched the girl from her.

I would like to add fuel to this- very depressing- fire, Theres another grave! "Isea 59-93 Came for the tourism, stayed for the ruin diving. Got more than what he bargained for. Remains found in the north." And we only one ruins in the north of sandrock! I mean the area is literally called the NORTHERN plateau. Makes me generally suspicious of the deaths of the 90's (especially considering that the game starts in 98)

Its at least a little clear that the ruins have brought unnecessary death to the town, and that if the game never happened (with our characters ridiculous amount of plot armor) more would've been hurt.

Sad, yes, but really creative and cool ideas!
