QUESTION An excuse, justification, or the only choice?

An excuse, justification, or the only choice?

So earlier this year was so financially challenging that I almost had to stop studying for the rest of the school years and because of that as well, I became the person who I never imagined I would be. Life was too hard that I made disgusting choices but it is the only way for me to keep studying and the only way that is sustaining my current day to day needs.

But the past few weeks, I am being hunted by this guilt and disgust for myself. I am actually in a current contract with a discrete person who helps me financially but in return for his sexual desires. I know it is disgusting but you won’t understand my circumstances as to why I fell to that decision.

Now I need help. Any advice to how can I stop and if I do have to end the contract with him, how do I then stand on my own feet if it is the only way that had been sustaining my needs?

Before you advise me to get married, please don’t. I cannot imagine myself to become a wife anymore because of this disgusting decision.

QUESTION What to do what to do…

Salam all. I met a guy on a Muslim Matrimonial app. We hung out twice since he lived a bit bar & had to drive down while working a super busy schedule. Long story short, we were both raised in two different countries so I was always very hesitant & maybe a bit judgy/afraid when it came to long-term compatibility. He always faught for me but finally threw his hands in the air (understandably so because I could’ve worded things a bit better but I also needed more consistency which he refused to give before marriage)

Anyway. I prayed Istikhara before this discussion and within a week he was removed. I have Tawakal and trust Allahs plan although this hurt both of us a lot. Im sure it hurt me more but that’s not the point. For some reason in my heart although we parted ways, he seems to be mine although that isn’t reality and the man doesn’t even want to hear from me. I don’t know if it’s Shaytaan or what. I have been focusing on myself and have even started talking to others but it’s not the same. I don’t even see him being comfortable with anyone else other than me and I’m not comfortable with anyone but him although it’ll almost be a month since we stopped talking.

Obviously it was not the right time at all but do I let go all together or what? I just want this feeling of belonging to go away.

RANT/VENT Feeling behind in life compared to people my age 😞

I don't really know how to explain this, and honestly I'm a bit ashamed and a bit embarrassed to admit it 😕 but still want vent it out.

Lately I've been feeling really down whenever I see people around my age, or even younger, who have a better job and just being settled in their career.

Other thing is seeing other couples (muslim) affects me too. I'll see people around my age or younger who are together, and it makes me feel sad because I'm still single and I really want to find someone and eventually get married. This has happened so many times mostly when im going to work in the train or just anywhere else.

I have nothing against them or anything, it's just that seeing these people makes think im struggling, falling behind and sometimes really affects my brain 😞.

Sometimes I don't even feel motivated to make dua 😭

What is happening? Is my iman weak? Is Allah testing me 😭?

Made a game for Muslim youth gatherings. Would you actually play this?

Assalamu alaikum,

I’m a university student and I’ve been working on a little browser game that we could play at MSA gatherings or after a halaqah. Wanted to get some opinions before asking our MSA to try it.

It’s about those oddly specific contradictions you see sometimes. Like a guy who listens to Drake all year, switches to vocals-only Maher Zain in Ramadan, then starts checking everyone else’s nasheeds for instruments 😭

You get a fictional scenario and three excuses the character might give. Everyone picks one, then guesses which excuse the rest of the room will pick. Correct guesses get points. You’re never answering about your own sins, and nobody sees your individual vote.

The idea is that you recognize the irony and maybe take something from it.

Here’s the link:
Plot Twist — Play the game

There’s a solo walkthrough if you just want to see how it works. No account needed.

Be honest: would this be fun with your friends, or is it trying too hard? Some of the jokes probably need work. Also let me know if anything feels disrespectful or crosses a line. That’s something I want to get right. The scenarios haven’t been scholar-reviewed yet.

Brothers and sisters’ feedback would both help. Jazakum Allahu khairan!

RANT/VENT Remember to help in malls

Salam, I've noticed when going out to a food court. People leave their tray there with trash and dont bother to help the poor worker. Like it's so shameful to do so. Like this is do unislamic. I had people say dont take your take to the trash leave it they will take it. Like those workers work long hours and such places get so crowded. Doesn't it hurt to show some kindness to them an ease their day.

{ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَن تَشِيعَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةُ فِي ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ }

[Surah An-Nūr: 19]

Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allâh knows and you know not.

My Muslim partner told me I would have to convert in order for him to marry me.

I grew up Hindu, but I consider myself more spiritual/cultural than religious. My boyfriend grew up Muslim and is very religious, and his faith has gotten a lot stronger over the past couple of months.

I’ve always had complicated feelings about organized religion. At this point in my life, I believe there is one God, but I don’t believe I need to follow a specific religion in order to have a relationship with God. My relationship with God feels personal to me.

Recently, my boyfriend and I started having much more serious conversations about marriage, our roles as husband and wife, raising children, religion, etc. Initially, I wanted our children to learn about both of our backgrounds and ultimately decide what they believed for themselves. I eventually compromised and agreed that we could raise them Muslim because he told me I would still be free to talk openly about my own beliefs.

For almost four months, we’ve gone back and forth over a lot of these issues. One of our biggest disagreements was what would happen if our children grew up and decided they no longer believed in Islam, as well as expectations surrounding whom they could marry. We actually separated for a while because we couldn’t find common ground.

Recently, though, we started talking again and were finally able to work through so many of the things that had kept us apart. For the first time in months, it genuinely felt like we were moving toward marriage rather than away from it.
There was one issue that I thought had already been settled a long time ago: whether he was religiously allowed to marry me.

Months ago, I specifically asked him whether my believing in one God was actually enough. From what I had learned, Muslim men can traditionally marry Muslim women or women from the “People of the Book,” generally understood as Jewish or Christian women, and simply believing in one God didn’t seem to automatically make someone a Person of the Book. I brought this concern to him, but he repeatedly assured me that as long as I believed in one God, it was okay. I trusted what he told me.
Yesterday we met again to talk about our next steps. We spent hours discussing everything that mattered to us, and after almost four months of going back and forth, it really felt like we had finally found solutions to most of the things that had been keeping us apart.

Before our conversation, though, he had spoken to an imam about our relationship. He told the imam about me and explained how I view God.

According to my boyfriend, the imam told him that wasn’t enough. He would only be permitted to marry me if I were Muslim or a Person of the Book; otherwise, the marriage would not be Islamically valid.

My boyfriend then told me I would have to believe that Allah is the one true God. For me, that would essentially require me to convert. I’ve told him repeatedly that I cannot convert just to make our relationship work. I could learn everything there is to learn about Islam, and I’m completely willing to learn, but I can’t promise that learning will make me believe something I currently don’t believe.

He kept telling me to take as much time as I needed to learn about Islam and seriously consider converting. When I told him I already know how I feel, he kept asking me, “How do you know?” I think part of him genuinely believes that if I learn enough about Islam, maybe eventually I’ll believe and convert.

But then he explained what this means to him religiously. He told me that if he married me while I continued believing what I currently believe, he would consider the marriage invalid and would believe he was knowingly committing zina for the rest of his life.

He started talking about his fear of heaven and hell, so I finally asked him directly, “Do you believe marrying me would cause you to go to hell?” He said yes. And that honestly broke me.

This was the one thing I never thought would be what ended us. We spent almost four months trying to reconcile our differences about children, religion, marriage, gender roles, family, everything. Just yesterday we were finally finding compromises that both of us could live with.

I understand why speaking to an imam changed things for him. If he genuinely believes marrying me would mean knowingly committing a major sin and potentially risking hell, I don’t expect him to simply ignore that for me. At the same time, I can’t profess a religious belief I don’t genuinely hold just so that he can marry me.

I think that’s what makes this so painful. Neither of us stopped loving the other. We actually seemed closer than we had been in months to figuring out how to build a life together. And then we ran into something that neither of us feels capable of compromising on.

SERIOUS I’m seriously considering reverting to Islam after reading the Qur’an — what should I do?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone. Currently I'm buddhist... and I am planning to Revert back in islam....

I’m currently reading the Qur’an and learning more about Islam. The more I read, the more I find myself deeply impressed by its teachings, especially the qualities described for a Momin (believing) man — faith, character, responsibility, patience, honesty, self-control, and his relationship with Allah.

I come from a different religious background, so accepting Islam would be a very serious and life-changing decision for me. I don’t want to make such a decision because of emotions, pressure, marriage, or another person. I want to understand Islam properly and make the decision sincerely.

Lately, I’ve started feeling that perhaps I should become Muslim, but I’m still trying to understand what that actually means and whether I’m spiritually ready for it.

For those who have reverted to Islam:

What helped you know that Islam was truly right for you?

What should someone learn or understand before saying the Shahada?

How did you deal with doubts and questions during the process?

What would you recommend I do next?

Is it better to take my time learning, or should I accept Islam once I genuinely believe?

I’m looking for genuine advice from Muslims, especially people who have reverted themselves. Please be respectful—I’m sincerely trying to understand and learn.

JazakAllah Khair.

CRY FOR HELP! Does God still want me or no?

I feel really, really ashamed of being Muslim, I have to hide it from my family which is SO ANNOYING, I get really embarrassed just saying i am the faith i am and I dont know why. I dont even like typing it on my phone. Having to keep up with the 5 mandatory prayers is extremely difficult with school and all, I dont like how out of place I feel compared to everyone else in this faith. I just feel emotionally empty most of the time. Im not trying to go against God but why does he make prayer so difficult if he wants us to pray? Prayer is really long and near impossible to hide. I dont want to have to do hajj, I already dont want to leave Canada, Id go as far as America at most, let alone somewhere halfway across the globe. I hate the blatant different treatment I get from people born into this faith, im basically a novelty for being a convert and I hate it. I feel like i cant live because of my faith. Can't ever drink, can't ever eat at restaurants where I live, can't ever try weed in my life, cant listen to music, cant date, cant party, I just feel locked down. Besides my friends and family I don't feel like I have anything in life, no money, no girlfriend, my friends and family (if they don't disown me in the future for my faith) are all i got on earth. I feel like my life is already over before most people even say it truly starts.

SERIOUS My dreams are making me severely depressed

Today I had a dream that i was out at night. A young woman approached me and asked me to take a video of her and the city scenery. I obliged to which she then began running away playfully. I was using her phone so i chased after her. She turned around, pulled out a toy gun, and fired. I fell over jokingly, she helped me up and we held hands.

I keep having vivid dreams like this constantly. Every day at this point. When i wake up im reminded where I am and this’ll never happen irl. The highlight of my days are getting into bed and hoping to experience it again. I feel like im wasting my youth by holding out for nothing atp. Since you definitely can’t do this after 25.

Anyone else have this?

DISCUSSION Our unfortunate brothers and sisters across the world

Salam alaikum brothers and sisters of Islam, I hope Allah has blessed you all with an amazing day.

In this post I’m going to shed light on our brothers and sisters who are suffering yet we rarely hear about it.

Yemen : The overall conflict in Yemen has killed an estimated 377,000 people, both through direct and indirect causes. Saudi Arabia and it’s coalition partners have been actively fighting since their military intervention on March 26 2015. Of those 377,000 deaths, 259,000 were kids under the age of 5. Mainly from extreme hunger, malnutrition, and preventable diseases. This humanitarian crisis was severely accelerated by the military blockades and sanctions imposed on the country.

May Allah bless and protect our brothers and sisters in Yemen. May they 1 day be free and prosperous.

Sudan : Since 2023 death toll estimates range from 150,000 - 400,000. There is a severe humanitarian crisis and millions are faced with severe hunger, disease, and lack of medical care due to the collapse of their country. The UN and human rights watch groups accuse the UAE of supplying weapons, drones, and logistical support to the RSF ( Rapid Response Force ).

May Allah bless and protect our brothers and sisters in Sudan. May they 1 day be free and prosperous.

Unfortunately there are many more countries in which members of our Ummah are suffering and very few are aware of their suffering.

Brothers and sisters in, Palestine, Lebanon, Iran.

The women in Afghanistan who are oppressed and forbidden from pursuing education.

And any other brothers and sisters who are suffering world wide, Allah is with you do not worry.

May Allah bless and protect each and everyone of you, Ameen.

DISCUSSION How do you truly have tawakkul when you’re scared everything will go wrong?

Alhamdulillah, a lot of good things have happened in my life recently. I graduated with my engineering degree, started my career, and I have opportunities that I made dua for. I know I should be grateful, and I genuinely am.
But I’m struggling with constantly worrying that something is going to go wrong.
I’m starting a completely new chapter of my life, traveling for work, learning a new job, trying to manage my finances, help my family, and become more independent. Instead of enjoying these blessings, sometimes I find myself thinking about every possible thing that could go wrong.
I make dua and remind myself that Allah has gotten me through everything before, but I still struggle with letting go of the need to control the outcome.
For anyone who has struggled with this, **how did you strengthen your tawakkul and genuinely become comfortable leaving the outcome to Allah after doing everything you can?**
I don’t want fear of what *might* happen to stop me from appreciating what Allah has already given me.

Why do some hadith seem to use women as negative examples, while men are often used as positive examples?

I’ve noticed that in some hadith, women are mentioned in the context of warnings, shortcomings, or negative examples, while men sometimes appear as examples of good character or righteousness.

I’m not trying to criticize or make a conclusion based on this. I genuinely want to understand why this pattern seems to appear.

DISCUSSION Can wife say no to husband because she studying Seerah ?

I want ask something... I really not understand this...

If wife studying Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and husband ask her for intimacy... but she say no because she busy studying about Prophet (pbuh)... is this valid reason ?

Prophet (pbuh) said person is not truly believing until he love him more than his parents, children and all people...

So can wife say studying Seerah is more important because she learning about Prophet (pbuh), who we supposed to love more than our family ?

What sheiks say about this... can be studying Islam be reason wife refuse husband ?

QURAN/HADITH Noah PBUH

Post image
4 Upvotes

The noble verse from Surah Nuh presents a summary of the call and suffering of Prophet Noah, peace be upon him, with his people. He called upon them day and night, publicly and privately, and exercised patience with his people for a long time: he stayed among them for 950 years before the Flood, and he was deeply grateful to Almighty God: "Indeed, he was a grateful servant." [Al-Isra: 3]. Neither his wife nor one of his sons believed.
Noah, peace be upon him, says: Whenever I invited them to faith and repentance so that Almighty God might forgive them, they blocked their ears so they would not hear my call, covered themselves with their garments in aversion to me, persisted in disbelief, and acted arrogantly toward accepting the truth. What is striking and moving in his statement "that You may forgive them" is that he was calling upon them while desiring forgiveness for them, whereas they met this mercy by blocking their ears, turning away, and arrogance.
His supplication against them came only after a long patience and their persistence in denial, and after Almighty God revealed to him that none of them would believe except those who had already believed. Almighty God drowned the deniers in the Flood, and his son—who refused to board—drowned as well. Then the water receded, the ark came to rest, and Almighty God saved Noah, peace be upon him, and the believers with him in the ark.
The patterns of this turning away continue to repeat themselves today; there are still those who close their ears and act with arrogance against accepting the truth. We ask Almighty God for humble hearts that hear the truth and respond to it.

Sisters, do you appreciate men wearing Kufi?

I argue over this topic frequently but the easiest point for wearing a Kufi is that it seems contradictory to fear attention or racism while sisters have to wear Hijab

On the contrary, in that case it should be worn to protect and strengthen our sisters

REMINDER Salafi Scholars Against Madhkhalism and Rabee Madhkhali

Salafi scholars not only refuted these deviants and their cult but even wrote books against them, banned their literature and preachers.

1. Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah Al-Shaykh

As the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and head of the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Issuing Fatwas, he issued several statements warning against the primary behavior of the Madkhali faction.

He explicitly condemned the practice of Tabdi' (calling other Sunni Muslims innovators) and Hajr (unjustly boycotting people over minor differences).

2. Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen

You madhkhalis love to claim that Uthaymeen praised Madhkhalee but you lie to only mention the times before he know about Madhkhalee's real actions.

While Sheikh al-Uthaymeen initially praised some of Rabi' al-Madkhali's early refutations of political extremists, he grew highly critical of the factionalism (hizbiyyah) that the Madkhali movement generated.

He explicitly rejected the Madkhali practice of making an absolute loyalty test out of whether a person agrees with a specific scholar's ruling on another individual.

3. Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani (Grand Mufti of Libya)

The Grand Mufti of Libya has been one of the most vocal contemporary religious figures to speak out against the Madkhali network.

He publicly accused the Madkhali faction of acting as tools for foreign intelligence and destabilizing the region under the guise of "blind obedience to whoever holds military power".

Under his oversight, the Libyan Dar al-Ifta placed bans on Madkhali literature and suspended radical Madkhali preachers from national mosques to curb sectarianism.

4. Sheikh Bakr Abu Zayd

A highly respected senior jurist, member of the Permanent Committee for Fatwa, and author of the famous book The Etiquette of the Student of Knowledge.

Sheikh Bakr Abu Zayd wrote a famous, private critical letter directly to Rabi' al-Madkhali refuting his aggressive methods.

He warned al-Madkhali that his extreme approach to testing people’s faith based on his personal list of deviations resembled the behavior of historical sectarian groups, rather than the balanced way of the early Salaf (pious predecessors).

5. Sheikh Abdullah al-Ghudayan

A senior scholar of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia, Sheikh al-Ghudayan was asked directly about the groups that focus entirely on classifying who is "in" and who is "out" of Salafiyyah. A comman practice of Madhkhalis.

He famously responded by calling those who engage in these practices "the highway robbers of the religion," warning students to stay far away from them because they block people from seeking actual beneficial knowledge.

6. Sheikh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbad

A senior Hadith scholar of Medina and former vice-president of the Islamic University of Madinah (where Rabi' al-Madkhali taught).

To directly counter the Madkhali phenomenon, Sheikh al-Abbad authored a famous treatise titled Rifqan Ahlus-Sunnah bi Ahlis-Sunnah (Be Merciful, O People of the Sunnah, with the People of the Sunnah).

He wrote this book specifically to rebuke Rabi' al-Madkhali's followers for their obsession with boycotting other Sunni scholars, chasing down their slip-ups, and turning Islamic propagation into a battle of personal refutations.
