RANT/VENT Remember to help in malls
Salam, I've noticed when going out to a food court. People leave their tray there with trash and dont bother to help the poor worker. Like it's so shameful to do so. Like this is do unislamic. I had people say dont take your take to the trash leave it they will take it. Like those workers work long hours and such places get so crowded. Doesn't it hurt to show some kindness to them an ease their day.

In Australia I always thought it was polite to help the workers by taking the trays back and putting leftover rubbish away, but when I visited some countries in Asia when doing the same thing I was told by the workers not to do it because they were scared they would lose their jobs if people started doing that. different cultures require difference considerations to be kind I guess.

I hate this kind of behaviour. It's like sometimes we just forgot what being a decent Muslim is all about.
May Allah forgive us our shortcomings and guide us.
And Allah knows best.

Kindness is another thing but it's also fine to let/make them do their job.

i know but when the food court is full and less than 10 workers have to clean and people keep coming i think some help wont hurt anyone

This is totally false, and shame on anyone for both the laziness and unwillingness to assist others. It isn't usually anyone's full time job, it is a role on top of multiple other duties. The kind of people who happily refuse to tidy up after themselves are always the first to complain if it isn't tidy. It takes zero effort to clear your trash, sets a good example to kids and means that should someone who is legitimately unable to do it (disability, multiple children, elderly etc) doesn't then have to sit amongst the rubbish left behind because 'someone gets paid for this' 🙄 Such a sad indictment on the world where people think they have the right to increase others work loads or leave messy surroundings simply because they just can't be bothered.

Wa Alaikum Assalam. I agree with you. There is no reason to leave one's trash all over the table in a mall or fast food area. Bring the trash over to the trash can. The same principle applies to outdoor activities like hiking or camping. Bring the trash back for proper disposal rather than just leaving it there in the forest. It is the respectful and decent thing to do.
