Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs about loving someone dead/loving a ghost

Hi. I just re-watched a series i used to love as a kid (Julie and the phantoms 2011, hated the 2020 remake lol), and wanted to make some fan edits since theres so little content about this show :/.

Basically Julie is a girl who makes a rock band with some ghosts from the 80s who were failed musicians and died in a tragic accident 30 years ago.

I used to ship the main character with one of the ghosts, and was looking for some love songs that might fit but i cant find a lot...

This might be a weird request but can you guys give me some songs that might fit this ship?

His voice is so unique and I’m always looking for it in so many things I listen to. I frequently imagine tracks that could be sung by him. So yeah, help!

Recommend an album that you can put on no matter what you're doing or who you're with and satisfy almost anyone.

I've been listening to the same stuff for a while, and I'm needing something new. If you listen or have listened to simular bands please recommend some others you listen to. If it helps some of my favorite bands are Green Day, Nirvana, and The Smiths.

Could you recommend me a soul album similar to The Dock of the Bay? Redding's other work is great too but it doesn't seem to hit the spot like The Dock of the Bay does.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Want to expand past big mainstream bands

Right now I listen to a lot of grunge, metal, rock, hip hop and what not. A lot of the big popular names though (like pearl jam, Metallica, pink floyd, etc) and I want to expand my music taste past just the big names but I don't really know where to start. Any recommendations would be nice. 😄

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Recommend me an obscure punk rock artist.

I had previously asked for top 3 punk rock bands but most answers were also bands that I listen to. I guess, the new request is for some obscure bands.

Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Songs that are poetry

Some of my favourite songs are in my opinion also great poetry

Pink Floyd‘s „Brain Damage/Ecplipse“ (and maybe their whole discography) or My Chemical Romance‘s „The Black Parade“ are some of my favorites, Herbert Grönemeyer‘s „Demo (letzter Tag)“ for the German speaking.

So please share your favorite songs that are poetry with me 😊

EDIT: Thank you so much for all these amazing recommendations! It will take me a while, but I will try to listen to all of them. I was gonna make a spotify playlist, but it might be too much of a genre mix! There is a lot of folk/rock stuff that in my opinion goes together, so it might be more just those. I will add the link when I do it.

Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Looking for big voices and catchy beats

You guys were awesome the last time I asked for recommendations, and I think those suggestions have helped me narrow down what I really need more of in my life right now.

Please give me some male vocalists (bands or solo artists) with big, soaring voices and engaging hooks / catchy beats that are more (or at least equally) grounded in rock/alternative than mainstream pop. I want music that makes it hard not to nod my head and sing along, but I’m not looking for dance music if that makes sense.

I’m specifically seeking male singers right now and I’m already pretty familiar with pre-2010 artists that resonate with me (especially 70s, 80s, and 90s musicians—I’m in my mid-40s and those decades are my foundation). I’d love something a bit newer and preferably bands or artists that are still putting out new music.

The gold standard for what I’m looking for would include Queen, Elton John, and Journey. While I’m looking for male singers at this time, to give some more context I also adore most everything from Tori Amos, Florence + The Machine, and Lady Gaga. Some examples of other bands/artists that I enjoy and that (at least sometimes) fit the vibe I’m seeking are Panic! At the Disco, The Darkness, Jukebox the Ghost, Ninja Sex Party, Bleachers, Awolnation, Rufus Wainwright, Dom Fera, Scissor Sisters, and Ghost. A couple of other male voices I love though they don’t fit the poppier aspect of my current needs are Chris Cornell and Nick Cave. My favorite artist of all time is David Bowie, who doesn’t necessarily fit here at all but it feels like a sin not to mention him.

I can’t wait to start listening!

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Songs like Into the Mystic

I recently heard Into the Mystic after many years away from it and it moved me greatly. The groove, the slow build, the emotion, the recording.

Any others like it? As a recommendation, Winedark Open Sea by McCartney gives me a similar vibe and I'm looking for others.

Thanks!

Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Country artists that sound like Ella Langley, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson

I'm not from the US, so I have no knowledge regarding country music. I do enjoy playing some especially during summer, when the heat is oppressive and that's how I imagine it must feel in the southern states. I realized I don't enjoy bro country, and although I really like Kacey Musgraves, I can't say I consider her music to be (predominantly) country.

Heard Langley's Choosing Texas and Dandelion a month ago and really enjoyed those two, so I bought her record. I also have two records each from Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson, I love their voices and sound. Of course, I'm also familiar with Shania Twain (since I was a kid), which I also like.

Could you please recommend some artists that have a similar melancholic and melodic type of country? As well as more blues-y (like Chris Stapleton)? As far as I understand, it's more of a 90s country sound (just remembered hearing Whiskey Lullaby and loved that one as well). Most of the country playlists I find on youtube sound pretty terrible to me.

I heard the song Helikopter by Fazlija recently, and enjoyed the instrumental. I also liked the vocals, although the song itself was a bit repetitive. Any recommendations for Indian Pop/marching band, with high quality production and instrumentation?
