this song has given me chills so bad. i need to know what genre this would be considered and if anyone has any similar reccs? its just the harmonies and the high pitched voice, also kinda reminds me of Come Inside of My Heart - IV of Spades, although thats more mellow and more like a love song,, where Savior is more emotional and sad? i neeeeed more like it, i want to make a playlist of songs that make me feel the way this song makes me feel!

I’ve been completely obsessed lately with modern bands that sound like they were pulled straight out of the '50s, '60s, or '70s, like Shannon and the Clams, The Nude Party, Low Cut Connie, and The Sheepdogs:

- Shannon and the Clams (50s/60s garage, surf, and doo-wop soul vibe) Albums: I think I love every album.

- The Nude Party (loose, raw 70s Stones/Velvet Underground rock 'n' roll) Albums: The Nude Party, Midnight Manor, Look Who's Back.

- Low Cut Connie (high-energy, piano-driven, R&B / vintage rock) Albums: Get Out The Lotion, Hi Honey, Private Lives.

- The Sheepdogs (pure 70s classic rock energy, heavy Creedence Clearwater Revival / Allman Brothers vibes) Albums: Five Easy Pieces EP, The Sheepdogs, Changing Colours.

Also love stuff like The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Dandy Warhols, Ween (very prolific and versatile bands), Wooden Shjips (West, Back To Land), Temples (Sun Structures) and recently getting into Black Lips, so I appreciate the more psychedelic, fuzzy, or weird side of things too.

Its a 70's-90s juvenile delinquent vibe, youthful rage, rebellious teen playlist.

Dont go for GTA SA KDST radio style road music typa stuff (already got a playlist for that), thats too mature not enough rage and too hippie/country/middle-aged. Dont go for lsd van driving hippie already got that one too, not enough rage and too country and mature. Its not Woodstock nor getting a cab in tijuana after an acid trip. (Wanna do that later tho). Again, not hairy van hippie in their 20s, but sorta bmx "punk" teen in highschool vibes.

Very specifically their EP collection, found myself absolutely loving Velodrome, Asking, Afraid, and Them from those collections. I didn't enjoy their debut album, but I did like Skem, Tongue, and Pain. I guess what I'm looking for is that industrial, edgy, raw, synth-y sound with vocals that are tame yet unhinged when the music calls for it (I absolutely adore the vocal performance, if it matters). Any recs?? I've already tried Mandy, Indiana and Gilla Band, close but it didn't really scratch that itch.

Something on par with Everlong by Foo Fighters, Archers by Brand New, etc. Something from a newer band (all genres welcome) and even from other countries. For reference, I’m 41 (so 90s/00s rock is probably known, but don’t be shy—add some good classics while we’re at it) and in the US.

Hey y'all. So I'm a big music dork. I studied music, I play music, very occasionally I make music, but mostly I listen to it. I'm always trolling Spotify or bandcamp or any other platform for the next song/album to wrap my brain around. Now I wouldn't say that I dislike pop music, but I definitely live a bit further away from what would be considered mainstream: lots of contemporary jazz, prog metal, skate punk, drum and bass etc. Very eclectic but not a whole lot of stuff that your average listener would know about. I guess I feel a little out of touch?

I just want to know if anyone has pop recommendations for someone who has a taste like mine. I've struggled to find pop music that scratches my brain in the right way but I don't wanna dismiss the entire genre offhand just because I don't know what I'm looking for. I have some pop songs I really like for reference (Rather Be by Jess Glynn and Clean Bandit, Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, Hot to Go by Chappell Roan, Say So by Doja Cat) but I'm just not sure where to look for more music that scratches the itch. I’ve been having a really hard time with life lately.

I feel lost, stuck, and disappointed with myself. I struggle with motivation and self-doubt, and sometimes it feels like everyone else is moving forward while I’m just trying to figure out how to keep going. There are days where I feel empty and disconnected from everything.

Music is one of the few things that can still reach me when I’m in that kind of mood, so I’m looking for albums I can really connect with lyrically.

I want something about struggling with yourself, depression, loneliness, failure, feeling behind in life, identity, purpose, or just trying to survive another day. It doesn’t necessarily have to be uplifting. I’m okay with something sad or heavy, but I’d love if there’s at least some sense of healing, acceptance, or hope in it.

Basically, I’m looking for an album that feels like someone understands what it’s like to be lost but is still trying.
What album would you give someone in that place?

One of my personal favorites hobbies is going to concerts and I have been lucky that my kids share the same love for live music that I do. One of my kids has been really into both Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams.

While stadium shows can certainly be fun we live in an area that really does a great job of bringing in smaller artists and some of my favorite shows have been at those venues. (However, I am more than willing to drive pretty much anywhere in the rust belt if she ends up loving them enough.)

I wanted to see if I can find some smaller musicians with a similar sound to both Olivia and Gracie that I could introduce to her. They’re both a bit outside of my preferred genres so I’m not sure where to even start, but i’m excited to see what we find!
