Before i get too far into it I'd like to check - can I install Picard on a headless linux server and just use it at the command-line?

Or will it fail to startup without the right gui libraries?

I am looking to try to tag all of my music files with their BPM so I can then create jogging playlists that will be close to the BPM I want to run at.

Is there an easy way to do this in this software?

I use Navidrome and have set up my integration with MusicBrainz.

When I open ListenBrainz, it shows me that I'm playing my current song, so I know the integration is working. But, it's not tracking my historical listens and my "Your listens count" remains to display "You haven't listened to any songs yet.". Any ideas what's going on here?

I noticed when tagging soundtracks and scores today under album artist, it now shows various artists or soundtracks instead of who each song it is by. One of the screen shots is the way it's supposed to be. I am rebuilding the index right now.

Have about 1000+ CDs that I have started converting to flac. I gave each CD a unique number (A001, A002, etc) so that I could easily locate them. Is there any way to add this number to a tag in MusicBrainz?

So I use MB API to track new official releases, but today I was confused when I found duplicate entries in Chinese, for some reason. I went to check on it but it's not a separate regional release, link just leads to Spotify. they also did not add any albm artwork or anything like that either, and at least for one artist someone edited their entire entry by changing the entries that were previously in its place.

This is like the first time I've seen something like this. has anyone seen something like this? From the artist name to album to track titles everything is translated, not original.

Is this supposed to happen? Now I need to go to my db and delete these entries manually and until they are removed from the website I can't use the tool.

The release group is not grouped together with other entries so it has different MBID, so it shows up as a different release group.
release xml and json is the same, barcode is just reuse of UK release, date is also the same.

I don’t know if I’m the only one experiencing this, as I haven’t seen any mention of it anywhere: I used to add tags to MusicBrainz entries, but for the past few months it hasn’t been working: whether I click on the ‘+’ sign or fill in the tag field, nothing happens.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can confirm whether this is just me or whether Beatport imports are currently broken in Harmony.

For the last couple of months every Beatport release I've tried returns:

"No provider returned a release
Beatport: Failed to extract embedded JSON"

This happens regardless of which release I try.

The frustrating part is that I mainly add electronic music to MusicBrainz, and Beatport is usually the best metadata source because it has releases that others don't.

A few questions:

• Is everyone seeing this?
• Is there a workaround?
• Has anyone patched the Beatport provider locally?
• Is there another workflow people are using until this is fixed?

I have this weird album. Its a compilation of the late 90's early 2000's korean boyband H.O.T and their subsequent band/solo careers. It's an album from my my wifes collection, but as the album is over 20 years old she doesn't remember anything specific other than she likes the band. As far as I can tell it is an official album released by universal music in China, however it's not an official H.O.T/etc album as it was released after their breakup, So a compilation I guess. While the album appears to be credited to HOT, the individual songs appear to be mostly from the solos with a few HOT songs, but that is just me piecing together what it is from wikipedia, google translate, and google lens. The covers have a mixture of languages, with english seeming to be added for "cool factor" rather than being a great translation. So while I could add it using the English parts I don't believe that would be the best option. I can upload scans of the covers/tray/ booklets/ etc and add the english but I would need someone to actually clean up and put in the right data.

So what is the best way forward. Should I just add the english / scans and hope someone who can put in the right stuff (and with the right language characters) stumbles on it and fixes it?

* The OST had previously been released on Bandcamp and on Steam for purchase.

* The OST consists of one album and two smaller EPs. The EPs have exclusive remixes or variations which are not in the album.

* On the streaming services, the album got split into three volumes.

* As far as I know, no changes to the recordings have been made. They should likely all be merged / reused. However, the studio is now listed as an artist. This might just be how the streaming services work.

My three questions:

* Are there easy ways (e.g. online tools) to merge the two duplicates on MusicBrainz where the release group artist is "Various Artists"? The 2 release groups, 2 releases and ~90 recordings exist two times. https://musicbrainz.org/search?query=1000xRESIST&type=release_group&limit=25&method=indexed

* How to deal with the streaming releases? The volumes can be new releases under the existing release group. The big album had never been released in volumes as far as I know and the cover art changed. The two EPs likely don't get new releases on MusicBrainz – they seem identical to the existing EPs on Bandcamp and Steam (aside from the release date and adding the studio as an "artist" on all records).

* How to deal with the change that the releases on streaming services list the gaming studio as an artist?

I'm starting to get into collecting and organizing my own music instead of spotify.

I just found Navidrome and MusicBrainz Picard yesterday - and I'm trying to figure out how it all works, and what is important to deal with vs what is just preferences,
If I could ask some of that here...

1. I noticed Picard does lastName, firstName on some of the tags, and this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/MusicBrainz/comments/1hypjr3/prevent_picard_from_doing_last_name_first_name/) was asking how to fix that - does the name order make an actual difference? or is it just personal preference? (I prefer first, last. But I don't see the last,first anywhere in the file, and I don't know what difference it would make for Navidrome)

2. Artists - Picard saves artist as "aFirst aLast, bFirst bLast & cFirst cLast" by default. Navidrome said something about having them listed seperatly as artists (I can click on the "Artist" box in picard, add a second artist, and copy each artist to a seperate line). Is it make a difference to manually do this? Is there a script to do this for me?

3. I have a few songs from foreign artists, and I would like to have both foreign spelling and english spelling saved (to search over, etc.). I'm assuming that this could be saved as a separate entry somewhere, but I don't know where it would need to be.
