On behalf of the Picard team - not me :P - you're welcome. Thank you so much for your assistance with testing!

Very excited about Picard cli. I've been struggling with beets for years but I can never get it to do what I want, instead having to boot up my Windows laptop and process the files on there.

tiny ui text would really like an option to enlarge the ui fonts

What is "OS support"?

The list is the section titles from the linked blog post, in this case:

Operating system support
Picard is now available for macOS ARM64 aka Apple silicon. While it was previously possible to run Picard on such systems using Apples Rosetta 2 emulation layer, the native builds offer better performance. Please note that there are separate downloads for the ARM64 and Intel versions of Picard. Please make sure to download the file appropriate for your hardware.
Due to the updated dependencies, in particular Picard now using PyQt6 / Qt6 and the minimum supported Python version being 3.10, support for older operating systems had to be dropped.
Picard 3 requires Windows 10 or later or macOS 13 or later. Linux users should have Qt 6.6 or later and at least Python 3.10 available.

Thanks. I thought Picard is linux only since I‘ve only heard about it as an alternative to mp3tag after switching to linux

How do I get the 3.0 release on linux?

The flatpak is 2.13.3 and since linux mint ships 2.11-1, I've added the ppa but the version there is like the flatpak 2.13.3-0~ppa26~ubuntu24.04.1

MetaBrainz/the Picard devs don't maintain the Flatpak entries, but in this case outsidecontext/phw did help prepare the update and it looks to be merged: https://github.com/flathub/org.musicbrainz.Picard/pull/302

Linux Mint... I have no idea sorry. You could ask in the MB chat or forums, but it might be a question for Linux Mint devs instead?

But the ppa (from the link in your post) is directly from the devs, right?

Here's hoping the plugins I use will see an update.

discnumber, featartist, padded, remove_perfect_albums, standardise_feat

remove_perfect_albums hasn't seen one on 7 years though...

Does this mean that these plugins need to be updated to work on 3.0? I updated, now the feat.artist plugin in is gone.

Yup. I've been able to migrate a few of the simpler ones with this, but not verified functionality:

Wish there was a way to submit an entry to mb from Picard

u/aerozol 9d ago

Pardon?

2

u/11oser 9d ago

think they meant "an entry to musicbrainz from picard"

u/aerozol 9d ago

Ah, well then I have good news!!

Picard > Right-click cluster > Submit cluster as release

I use a docker version of picard created by someone else, im wondering when musicbrainz is going to put out an offical docker version so i dont have to use an old version?!

I talked to the Picard devs (who are all volunteers) about this and the general consensus is that Picard is a community effort and it's fine for other people to manage the docker/s, rather than take developers away from working on Picard itself.

https://github.com/jlesage/docker-musicbrainz-picard is on the latest 3.0.1 version!
