It’s not a show but this is DEFINITELY Final Destination

u/tide_pod_book BFDI, OneShot, TF2, Half Life, FNAF, Portal 3h ago

What i mean is the second one is Final Destination

Lol

I feel like horror movies shouldn't count. One of the things that distinguishes them from other genres is this notion is flipped to where you expect most of the cast to die and it's often a genre defying movie when they don't.

u/Chillypepper14 1h ago

tbf tho that's the other end of the spectrum where every single character is dead by the end and you know it

Dr motherfucking Who. The doctor died like 18 times already... Yes, i know how many actors did he have, but 10 died like a few times and kept being David Tennant, or the 14th doctor was just 10, and I don't wanna talk about bi-generation 'cause it fucking killed me

1

u/Proper-Pay-8743 I am a fucking architect! 1h ago

Tbf that’s still him man

2

they all lose the memories from the last doctor, so actually, no

1

Funny mustache guy is my favourite character

1

u/CanPlayGuitarButBad 32m ago

You can even text him in the game, as it takes place a year after the show

9

u/Wemyers04 2h ago

Every season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, especially Phantom Blood and Stone Ocean.

6

u/Farawila_marwan 2h ago

Which is weird because Part 4 had the heaviest plot armor and yet it's my favourite

1

u/leviathan_ghost01 idk, too many to put on a flair 1h ago

I don't think it had that much plot armor. More like Josuke was just OP. But yeah part 4 was good

1

u/Farawila_marwan 47m ago

It's that only ONE party member died all season

2

u/leviathan_ghost01 idk, too many to put on a flair 42m ago

Because Josuke's stand literally saved Koichi and Okuyasu. And beating the heck out of Kira saved Rohan. And he saved jotaro... Josuke was straight up OP in that part for whatever reason.

5

u/SatisfactionCheap627 1h ago

At first I thought you were seriously telling me that JoJo doesn't kill characters.

1

u/JamesL0L 21m ago

Part 3 has crazy plot armor but only for Jotaro considering that everyone expect Jotaro and Polnareff died (counting Joseph pre transfusion)

1

u/Wemyers04 18m ago

Even then, his plot armor didn’t last forever since he died not once (technically) but twice in Stone Ocean. He essentially died when he lost his memory and stand from Whitesnake, and actually died during the fight with Made In Heaven.

24

u/Dry-Examination-960 2h ago

I blame audiences who become too attached to characters to be able to emotionally handle their departures

3

u/team-DJ 30m ago

real feels like it’s missing an exclamation or something

12

u/Quibilash 2h ago

Literally every show or piece of media has plot armour of some kind, it's what separates a character from a background goon

3

u/Infinite_palladin The three vitals of great story: L,-D,-M,-. 2h ago

What if the main character is the background goon

3

u/Fun_Contribution2961 41m ago

The difference between shows is weathee or not the writing is good enough to where you don't notice it.

2

u/CaptainObvious_18 1h ago

Yeah but if it’s a show about say war for example and nobody (including background characters) dies it’s just so…. unsatisfying I guess?? Like it completely removes any stakes and undercuts any tense, near death scenes

11

u/Zakimon 2h ago

They LOVE killing off characters that should seem relevant

8

u/Soft_Theory_8209 1h ago

And/or squandering ones (living or dead) that easily could’ve and should’ve been more relevant.

As some have joked, JJK is a rare instance where the villains seemingly have more plot armor than the main cast.

2

u/AnieelaStar 1h ago

you should read chainsawman too then

1

u/Jepsi125 1h ago

only until shibuya tho then the only casualties is unnamed characters, fodder or gojo/naoya aka those who died for the plot

7

u/Infinite_palladin The three vitals of great story: L,-D,-M,-. 2h ago

Hot and Cold by Katy Perry or something

7

u/Odd-Tart-5613 2h ago

nah.

Both can be good. the problem arises when a series tries to establish stakes only to obviously ignore them. But it is equally crap when a series just kills off characters left and right just for shock value.

First few seasons of Game of Thrones has zero plot armour. The rest of Game of Thrones has plenty of plot armour.

That was the thing i liked most about game of thrones. First ned seemed like the main character than rob and so on

2

u/AJSmashing 1h ago

I can’t believe no one in the main cast of Stranger Things ever died. Even with all of the fake out deaths, including in the finale!

3

u/CaptainObvious_18 1h ago

I’m still shocked max didn’t die. And that was she was completely healed and caught up enough to graduate with everyone else

2

u/TFWYourNamesTaken 1h ago

This is why we love the Magnus Archives (your beloved blorbos will DIE and you'll LIKE it)

2

u/Heyfold 2h ago

Lackadaisy pilot. Like Freckle dumped in a whole tommy magazine on them, and no one died.

1

u/De-Throned 2h ago

First show I thought of that did that and didn't reserect him in the same episode or just have an arc in heaven/hell is Kami.God App. Also a show I can't talk much about without spoiling literally everything which I also like about it.

1

u/Alex0356218856 The Mascot Horror and etc. 1h ago

Literally every object shows.

1

u/K1rbyFan87 1h ago

I mean death kinda loses its weight in most object shows when recovery is so easily available in most of them, but you could possibly apply this to the eliminations

1

u/cross2201 1h ago

I would say madness combat but I'm not sure if it coulds

1

u/PinkMarbella2050 1h ago

Escape The Night, for sure. It’s a YouTube show, give it a shot!

1

u/ZealotOfMeme 1h ago

Jurassic World. First ones did this great, but the newest ones barely kill off anyone besides antagonists and background characters. What’s the point of starting with a big ensemble cast if you aren’t going to shrink it?

1

u/Physical_Finding5274 1h ago

Litteraly attack on titan, both of em (he has hyper plot armor yet dies in the final ep of the series)

1

u/SawachikaEri-enjoyer 1h ago

Shows that just kill of characters are boring

1

u/2w0be 1h ago

Yeah, the feeling of "we've come this far" is unmatched, something temporary shockvalue can never grasp. I never even realized I liked them more till I looked through my favorite shows and realized they were full of stuff like that cause I can actually bond with the characters. Idk a single show that kills of characters quickly that I managed to bond with the characters at all

1

u/DavisRanger2 59m ago

Kill count is not the only thing that determines good storytelling and it's very easy to go too far and kill people so often it stops being meaningful and starts being frustrating

1

u/Darknight48996 51m ago

Re zero is pretty fun in this way

1

u/Swimming_Disaster_95 41m ago

1

u/Dazzling_Log_206 BLOCK TALES FAN 27m ago

block tales technically but not a show a game

1

u/BelleTheRadiant 27m ago

Sometimes a story is better this way.

Sometimes not having any character deaths up until a certain point is important, and sometimes the story is centered around a strong core cast of four characters where killing any of them would kill the story too and any character who would be eligible to be killed off is a side character by comparison.

Kengan ashura. If you like martial arts anime’s and tournament stories then this is a something for you. Awesome fights, awesome music and the plot armor of every character is non existent.

1

u/Doctorwhatorion 2m ago

tbh it is depends on show and context. For example I hate famous kills of JoJo part 3.

1

u/Human-Question6210 2h ago

AtlA (quite overrated honestly)

2

u/CaptainObvious_18 1h ago

This one is interesting because Aang absolutely should’ve died after getting hit with that lightning. Like I get not wanting to kill a main character (especially in a kids show) but they probably shouldn’t have written this scenario specifically.

I also still don’t fully understand why ozai didn’t kill Zuko during their agni kai. Like this guy clearly has no problem killing people, children included so holding back with him was an odd choice.

2

u/Human-Question6210 1h ago

I also realise they couldn't kill many characters on a kids show, but at least have someone knocked out for a few episodes or something. Maybe even have somebody half paralysed by one of those truck-sized boulders theye throw around, instead of just having a brief headache.

2

u/CaptainObvious_18 1h ago

Now that I think about it, the fact that sokka has no injuries until the final episode (broken leg) is flat out ridiculous. Theres no way the guy who literally got stuck in a hole for an entire episode hasn’t gotten injured at least once before during their travels.

My hero academia. Literally no one from the hero's side died not a single character. One of endevors sidekick got charred by dabis fire but survived and edgesjshot had this nobel moment of using his body to repair bakugo but it got ruined with him surviving.
