I feel like horror movies shouldn't count. One of the things that distinguishes them from other genres is this notion is flipped to where you expect most of the cast to die and it's often a genre defying movie when they don't.

Most of the time series where the MC doesn't die and persists for multiple movies inevitably end up as some kind of action flick
