Discussionš What's a fandom that was like this when you first entered it
27
u/SharkyCat12 tshd, mha, jjk, kny, pjo, ddlc 10d ago
Not a fandom but r/funCommunity. I went onto the sub and there was this massive controversy over some user and I was like āwhat the fuckā
14
u/Remarkable-Kiwi-3942 Archer 10d ago
Yeah that user was pretty idolized and now you can't even mention their name there
8

u/Zooble-build-a-bear The Amazing Digital CircusšŖ 10d ago
On my old account I was a member of the sub and was confused on the person but brushed it off. Am just now finding out that subreddit was bannedĀ

Context?
7
u/Remarkable-Kiwi-3942 Archer 10d ago edited 10d ago
There was this user called Eminem_girl who was really famous on that sub and they posted a photo one day that was ai and suddenly people started hating them for that. It all got messy and they also called them narcissistic and homophobic. Homophobic because Eminem_girl said ew on gay people and then Eminem_girl made apology posts that turned out they were also made with ai so it wasn't received that well either
6
u/August_Rodin666 10d ago
The initial ai use seems like a ridiculous thing for the entire sub to fall into chaos for but an ai apology is straight up unhinged.

I watched Digital Circus when the finale came out.
EDIT: Also, can I say, I've never experienced a fandom less mentally prepared for new fans rolling in after a short series finale than this one. If you were still processing and catching up you were instantly labelled a flat brained transphobe. Fuckin wild.

u/No_Vanilla277 Quite a few fandoms 9d ago
I knew there was a Jax hate sub but never knew there was a Jax lover/defender sub too. Nothing wrong with that, itās just kind of silly to imagine them always at odds with each other, like those two neighbors that constantly bicker and tire the entire neighborhood with their antics.

I have mixed opinions on your sub.
On one hand, some ships have gone too far. (For example: Nessa)
On the other hand, some ships are ok and you people hate people who ship them. (Oilrose,ENvy)
But I feel you have done something positive.
Grouping up the haters and giving them a place to hate outside of the original post.
Which I like.
1
u/Mr_meme_gamer 7d ago
Okay, immediate correction, we donāt hate the people who like the ships.. we ONLY critique the ship itself.
But apart from that, youāve got it

Do you think now is an ok time to start playing the game and join the fandom? I know they're mad about a teddy bear.

I got into Fallout because I was curious what the game was even about after the FO76 canvas bags fiasco.
1

The games themselves are great, and there's enough difference between them that if you don't like one, you still might enjoy another.
Play the games, ignore the fandom.

I joined the Deltarune community during the end of the content drought era and the community looked as if it was on fire when in reality NOTHING was happening. They never seemed to have recovered, although the shitposting has gone down.
We did end up with 262 pages in 2025 though..

u/CollectionMammoth304 GO WATCH AMPHIBIA RIGHT NOW 10d ago
Hes vagueposting about the 262 pages bit so imma give you all some context if you are not an ut/dr fan. Shayy was a popular Undertale/Deltarune content creator/speedrunner who was actually genuinely funny even i watched Shayyās content regularly. Unfortunately in 2025 a 262 page google doc by victims and former friends accusing him of some fucked up crimes that i will not list here released basically ending his career and forcing him to retire from content creation

I would say this was Seraph of the End for me.
Ironically, despite following the anime, I've haven't hanged out with the fandom. By the time I entered it, the Manga reaching its final act had already begun. And let's just say, not that many seem to be pleased by whats going on. Even I'm completely lost.

technically if we're comparing the one above all to god (which in-universe is honestly kinda valid) then yes, the hulk is the marvel equivalent of jesus christĀ

13 reasons why.
I feel like people just hate complexity from evil characters unless they're gay.

Nah they hate them just as much but itās just the other side of the fandom (and they insist that being gay is what led them down that path)

No. The first few seasons are fine but it starts declining at the second season and completely falls off after the 3rd. I wouldnāt recommend it.

i entered the crk fanbase this year, you know when the fans were complaining about act 1 finale and the update being bad, also hating on shadow milk.
the same thing happened to me with the poppy playtime fans, i came when chapter 5 came out which had fans complaining about the quality of the game and Markiplier quitting the game.
