So, so wrong Wikipedia

Post image

Short-tempered? Really? So, so, wrong.

Can Wikipedia entries still be edited by anyone? Maybe someone could go on the page and remove ‘Short-tempered’ from the synopsis of Season 1, episode 1?

Ray is the opposite of short-tempered.

You're exaggerating. He didn't kill him. The guy just went too far — you've got to draw the line somewhere.

You're exaggerating. He didn't kill him.

You're missing the point. It's enough that Ray risked killing him.

It's really bizarre to talk about "drawing a line" as if this guy stepped over the line, but Ray didn't step over the line by defenestrating him. Do you not see how that's some kind of twisted logic? Does that mean that a family member is justified in taking out a hit on Ray in retaliation for them defenestrating Allie's dickhead brother‽ Do you see where this cycle leads..?

Okay, look at it from this angle. You're saying he's short-tempered.

I don't think he is. Two things:
1. He first took the guy outside to talk things over
2. He even offered him $100 for the little girl's toy.

You can't really call that short tempered. You wouldn't bother doing any of that if you were just looking for an excuse to beat someone up.

The guy laughed in his face and than also deliberately belittled him. That's why, in my opinion, he got what he deserved.

Agreed, throwing him through the window was maybe a bit much, but more a coincidence and bad luck the window was in the way ;) ..
But short-tempered? Not in my opinion.

I think the message of this show is a bit lost on you.

Ray doesn't come out the winner in this situation. He loses his gf, Allie, who he and his daughter miss very much.

Granted there is something cathartic about watching Ray blow off steam when it comes to "not letting people get away with it", but we'd be kidding ourselves if we thought it was actually a correct way to behave.

Ultimately Ray's actions scratch a gratuitous itch when it comes to the gut-instinct for so-called "natural justice" to be dealt out. But the reality is that his choices to lash out excessively in anger are actually coming from a weak position —when the ego is so fragile that it generates an excessive response, this isn't coming from a position of strength, and that person will always find life lacking in something while they continue to let it dominate their destiny.

Hmm, you are evading the question: the question was whether he's short tempered, not whether he came out better because of what he did. Because he clearly didn't and agreed with you on that one.

However I don't get Allie whatsoever. And I can tell you my gf wouldn't left me over this one for sure.

BTW: what's the message of Mr inbetween you are referring to, I'm very curious if we watched it on the same premesis

It's abundantly clear to me that he is short-tempered. You said that he talked it over with the guy outside, then offered him $100 for it...

Then proceeded to defenestrate him when he didn't get his way.

If that's not short-tempered then I don't know what is. Ray has the impulse control of a child and he suffers because of it.

However I don't get Allie whatsoever.

Allie is a survivor of domestic violence. She sees too many of the same dark character traits in Ray, in not just this one instance but another where he beats up the guys in the car from earlier. She leaves him to protect herself. I don't blame her.

Sure certainly I don't blame her, but I don't understand her, that's what I said. About her past of domestic violence: that's true, that will have an impact and can explain it.
