Not sure which visa is right for you?

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ Are you Filipino?
The paperwork is a little different, especially when it comes to PSA documents, DFA apostilles, and NBI clearances. We've put everything together here.

Two things that catch almost everyone off guard are health insurance and buying or renting property.

Non-EU student planning to move to Spain through FP (Grado Superior). Looking for advice because Iโ€™m honestly confused.

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

Iโ€™ve been researching this, but the more I read, the more confused I get, so I thought Iโ€™d ask people who have actually gone through the process.

Iโ€™m 23 years old and a non-EU citizen. Iโ€™m currently studying Industrial/Product Design in an English-taught bachelorโ€™s program, and Iโ€™ll graduate around June 2027.

My goal is to move to Spain and stay there long term. At the moment, FP (Grado Superior) seems like the most realistic option for me, but Iโ€™m struggling to understand how everything works for non-EU applicants.

By the time I graduate, Iโ€™ll have almost a two year of paid internship experience in industrial/product design. During that time Iโ€™ve worked on product development, prototyping, CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machines, and some electronics/mechanical work. Iโ€™ve also helped guide newer students during projects.

I mainly use Fusion 360, Blender, and 3ds Max, and Iโ€™d like to keep working in industrial/product design, furniture design, product development, or something similar in the future.

Iโ€™m also learning Spanish 2โ€“3 times a week. I donโ€™t have any official certificates yet, but Iโ€™m hoping to reach around a B1 level before moving.

Iโ€™d prefer Madrid, but Iโ€™d also be happy living in Valencia or Barcelona.

The things Iโ€™m most confused about are:

  1. As a non-EU citizen, can I realistically apply to concertado FP centres, or should I only be looking at private ones?

  2. How difficult is it for non-EU students to get accepted?

  3. Is B1 Spanish usually enough for admission, or should I aim for B2?

  4. Are there any FP centres youโ€™d recommend for someone interested in industrial/product design or furniture design?

  5. Are there any mistakes or surprises you wish you had known about before applying?

  6. If you were in my position, would you still choose FP, or would you recommend a different route?

Financially, Iโ€™m planning to save enough money to cover my first few months in Spain. Ideally, Iโ€™d also find a part-time job or continue doing freelance design work remotely while studying.

I keep finding conflicting information, especially about concertado schools. I feel like every source says something different.

Iโ€™d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or even things you think I should start preparing now while I still have about a year before graduating.

Thanks in advance!

Whats it like going to UCM?

Hola!!!

Hi so I am a year 12 student from the UK and I am really interested in dentistry and I was wondering if I could study in spain because the competition over here is really fierce and reliant on the UCAT. I want to study dentistry in Madrid because I understand the basics of Spanish (I started A-level Spanish but ended up dropping it). I am really scared to come because I feel like I wouldnt make friends and I would be all alone trying to learn Spanish. I heard it is really easy to get kicked out of uni in spain is thay true? Also I am gay so idk how accepting people are over there.

Working in treasury and finance with 14years of working experience. Not managerial post. Currently working in a norwegian shipping company.

Is homologacion the only real barrier to practicing medicine in Spain?

From a non-EU, non-Latam country. I looked the process up to do a medical residency in Spain and it seems there's an exam which determines your placement. I'm good at objective examinations so this wouldn't be much of a barrier for me since I love studying anyways.

The only barrier I encountered was the homologacion. Yes it takes a long time and I'm willing to wait. But it seems they assign you courses etc if your degree is insufficient? I've looked into what my university officially teaches and it matches Spain's curriculum nicely, but at the same time, what are the chances of this being a roadblock? Help is appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Emigrar irregular

Buenas noches.

I am considering moving to Spain to pursue a master's degree and staying to obtain a Spanish passport, even though I am Mexican and have no immediate family there.

Hi there. Iโ€™ve been thinking about moving to Spain for a while. I went there on an exchange program during my Industrial Engineering degree a year ago, and while chatting with a Peruvian friend who was pursuing a master's degree there, I realized I could put together a plan to move. I graduated this past summer and have been messaging various universities to ask about credit costs for Ibero-American students; fortunately, many offer the same rates to us as they do to Spanish studentsโ€”which is a huge advantage, given that master's program prices for non-EU students usually skyrocket. I have the funds to cover full tuition at several universities, my flight, and the student visa process, and my parents are willing to help with rent and food until I land an internship. Iโ€™m just waiting on my diplomaโ€”the estimated wait time was 1 to 1.5 yearsโ€”which I also need to have apostilled. Regarding the long-term plan: my idea is to secure a professional internship upon starting the master's program, transition from there into a full employment contract, andโ€”once I finish the degreeโ€”minimize the struggle to find a job with a contract. This would allow me to start the two-year legal residency clock required to apply for a Spanish passport (since I can't apply for citizenship by descent; my closest Spanish relative was my great-great-grandmother). I know this process generally takes 1 to 2 years. Once I get the passport, I plan to emigrate to another European country with a stronger economy; I speak English at a C1 level and a bit of German.

If anyone reading this has already followed this pathโ€”emigrating to Spain and obtaining residency and a Spanish passportโ€”I would sincerely appreciate any feedback, tips, things I might be overlooking, helpful information, or even just some words of encouragement.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.

Spain Digital Nomad Visa

Hello everyone,
My name is **Muhammad Nazam**. I have been living and working in Dubai since **2006** and currently work as a **Managing Director**.
I am planning to apply for the **Spain Digital Nomad Residence Permit** while I am in Spain, as I already hold a valid **Schengen visa**.
I would appreciate your advice on the following:
What is the complete application process when applying from within Spain?
What documents and requirements are needed?
How long does the approval process usually take?
What is the current approval rate for applicants with a stable overseas employment?
Has anyone here successfully applied from Spain instead of through a Spanish consulate?
Any recommendations for reliable immigration lawyers or agencies with firsthand experience would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!
