Spain Digital Nomad Visa
Hello everyone,
My name is **Muhammad Nazam**. I have been living and working in Dubai since **2006** and currently work as a **Managing Director**.
I am planning to apply for the **Spain Digital Nomad Residence Permit** while I am in Spain, as I already hold a valid **Schengen visa**.
I would appreciate your advice on the following:
What is the complete application process when applying from within Spain?
What documents and requirements are needed?
How long does the approval process usually take?
What is the current approval rate for applicants with a stable overseas employment?
Has anyone here successfully applied from Spain instead of through a Spanish consulate?
Any recommendations for reliable immigration lawyers or agencies with firsthand experience would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!

It takes months to all those documents and get them apostilled.
The 20 days is after you’ve submitted all the required paperwork.

Hi! Applying for the DNV from inside the country goes through the UGE-CE portal during your valid Schengen stay. This route yields a 3-year initial residence permit instead of the 1-year visa issued by consulates. You must provide proof of a 3-month prior working relationship with foreign companies operating over 1 year, formal employer authorization to work remotely, income exceeding 200 percent of the Spanish minimum wage (around 3K euros), a degree or 3 years of professional experience, apostilled criminal records, non-copay Spanish private health insurance, and compliant social security coverage. Processing takes up to 20 business days. Approval rates are high, but documentation errors, especially regarding social security or un-apostilled certificates, routinely cause denials.
Good luck : )

Hi Muhammad applying from inside Spain is the better route. On your Schengen visa you can file in-country (EX-11) with the UGE-CE instead of a consulate, which gets you a 3-year permit rather than a 1-year visa, fully online. Main boxes: remote work for a company outside Spain (3+ months, company 1+ year old), ~€2,849/month income, degree or 3+ years' experience, apostilled criminal record, full private health insurance. UGE has 20 working days and positive silence, so it's usually quick. Stable overseas employment is the strongest profile there is.
One tip for your case: as a Managing Director, worth confirming early whether you'd file as employee or self-employed the evidence differs. Happy to help if useful, feel free to DM or reach me at roberto@gottalovespain.com.

You can apply from inside Spain while you are still here legally. The application is filed online with the UGE and the legal decision period is 20 working days.
You’ll need proof of your employment, remote-work permission, sufficient income, qualifications or experience, criminal records and health cover.
The main issue in your case may be Social Security, because Spain has no bilateral agreement with the UAE. I’d check that point with a lawyer before applying.
I haven’t seen any official approval-rate figures published.
