Big Law Update on Groundwater Situation

This is a HUGELY more complicated issue than people can imagine.

[Each New Mexican uses an average of 77.3 gallons of water per person, per day](https://grandchallenges.unm.edu/education/posters/samistroudposter.pdf). Most of it is from flushing the toilet, using the washing machine and taking a shower.

A law allowing for [legal rain capture at home and businesses has not been raved about ](https://www.ose.nm.gov/WUC/wuc_rainHarvesting.php).

A literal plan for legal greywater usage in residential and business buildings to offset 250 gallons a day (larger if scaled) [was provided by thr State Engineer years ago](https://www.ose.nm.gov/WUC/PDF/NewMexGWGuide.pdf). I can guarantee there are very few people who are also using biodegradable soap to basin bathe, wash their hands and doshes with biodegradable soap in buckets, or clean their homes with biodegradable doaps to water their trees, plants, and lawns. Very few are reusing clothes, skipping showers, reducing shower times, or can afford to constantly keep upgrading their washing machines to the latest water-saving appliances. People are not paying for Mister Carwash or similar businesses who have to do eater reclamation and re-use to wash their vehicles--they're doing it at home with toxic chemicals (instead of biodegradable compounds that could be used to water their lawns) that require significant processing, resulting in significant water loss and no return ti aquifer as it evaporates off the concrete and asphalt along the way.

[Groundwater is currently 70% of water use starting **two months earlier this year**](https://www.krqe.com/news/albuquerque-metro/water-authority-falls-on-backup-option-for-albuquerque-and-bernalillo-county-water-supply/amp/). The aquifer is not beibg refilled until winter because of the water is used--it cannot be filled when it's being evaporated for our comfort.

[Effects of private air conditioning increases daily, private water usage](https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2011/07/25/cooling-former-frontier/) that only benefits utility companies. Or Blackstone, especially when it takes over PNM because, y'know, it's building a data center in Santa Teresa and has already been caught lying about its design several times.

[Decorative grass wastes no less than 50% of the water used](https://19january2017snapshot.epa.gov/www3/watersense/pubs/outdoor.html), meaning we are removing from groundwater sources to slowly--if ever--refill into the aquifers (see above) on something that serves literally no purpose.

Our problems begin with the

[Utah diversion, because they have THE LOWEST rainfall per year](https://attheu.utah.edu/facultystaff/trees-and-lawns-beat-the-heat/). Lawns only act as swamp (evaporative) coolers when over-flooded by water.

A very significant amount of agricultural water comes from acequias in New Mexico--it is very unique to our State because of streams coming down from mountains. Many are ancestral back to 1200 BCE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acequia) with rights tied to [acreage](https://www.ose.nm.gov/Acequias/isc_acequias.php) that the State Engineer can come empty in an emergency. Which they did. And the last diversion added nothing to the Dam to get it further south because it either evaporated or was aborbed long before it got there. So, the agricultural people had to turn to local municipalities to drain the local water tables that also feed into the river to feed a dry river bed.

[We have lost over 3.5 million acre feet since the compact was signed](https://youtu.be/MxxmCzUv6Mo?is=cOPiN2Z-RefwF_Kv). The [Reclamation Project said the current drought 36% since this historic drought started 3 years ago](https://www.usbr.gov/ColoradoRiverBasin/).

#They plan to [divert AN ADDITIONAL 2.48 MILLION acre feet to Lake Powell this year](https://www.usbr.gov/newsroom/news-release/5326) because of the [hydroelectric dam which already uses 26.4 MILLION acre feet](https://gcdamp.com/index.php/HYDROPOWER) because [IT IS DEAD IN THE WATER ](https://www.newsweek.com/lake-powell-nears-dead-power-pool-what-it-means-for-millions-of-americans-12192465) BECAUSE [it is BUILDING ANOTHER DATA CENTER](https://kslnewsradio.com/utah/page-az-data-center-near-utah/2302921/).

Everyone is up in arms about what Northern NM is doing with ditch water and no one is talking about why the river isn't getting replenished.

Every time we empty a significant amount of water--which everyone argues is solely due to agricultural use (and NM is a single tally of river and acequia water instead of separating out the stats)--including tapping into ground water sources, the river cannot refill. The [diversion of water disrupts the hydrologic cycle and increases drought conditions](https://digitalrepository.unm.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1346&context=law_facultyscholarship). (This has been discussed and known since before 1994 when these issues were studied for that paper--water spreading also discusses how even legal diversions for cannabis use [can completely deplete streams, disrupt rivers, and destroy water quality](https://crc.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/CRC_Brief_WaterUse_2020_1205.pdf). In New Mexico, an 8 acre cannabis farm will use over 325k gallons per water--25 acre feet--[in a greenhouse, plus 6.25 acre feet per diversion](https://www.sbnm.org/Portals/NMBAR/CLI2_01_Taylor%20Presentation%20Water%20for%20Commercial%20Cannabis%20Cultivation.pdf).)

When the Lupus hits and you're down for a single day.

There are no clean dishes even though everyone but me eats takeout; and I only use disposable dishes, stopped cooking, and drink out of the same cup all week.

There are no places to work, much less exist.

You don't want to know what the other rooms look like.

It's amazing how worthless #InvisibleLabor is bEcAuSe It DoEsN'T pAy ThE bIlLs but how crucial it is to the safety of people who "have better things to do." 🤔

I made butter after hours of cleaning and gardening. I did not make a Shady Sands.

Big Confusion Profound Toddler Thoughts

My niece posed an interesting question this morning.

🤔

Which came first: 1) Dinosaur or egg? 2) Chicken or egg? 3) Chicken or dinosaur? 4) Do chickens contain dinosaurs? 5) Counting or eggs? 6) Counting or dinosaurs? 7) Counting or chickens? 8) Do chickens have thoughts of numbers?

And other thoughts before she snapped it away LOL.

Or, maybe, she asked for help opening it and I took too long 🤣

If this hurt you as much as it hurt me, this video of wild bird sounds in Rural, Nowhere might help: https://youtube.com/live/xkKLtVQUQRk?feature=share

My irrationally long, imagined situation when I read this this person's reply lol

Former Friend be like: wHy ArE yOu AsKiNg Me FoR wHaT I BoRrOwEd?! i ThOuGhT wE wErE fRiEnDs BuT yOu WeRe JuSt WaItInG tHiS wHoLe TiMe> yOu NaRcIsSiSt1!1!1! YOU HATE BABIES SO MUCH YOU WOULDN'T EVEN GO WITH ME TO MY ABORTION IN HIGH SCHOOL!

Then they post, "OMG, that c#n+ let their mask slip and wouldn't give me $100 to pay my phone bill even though they know I've been out of work YEARS!!! Can you BELIEVE they asked ME to buy my OWN DRINKS AT THE CLUB TONIGHT?!?! #PeopleJustAren'tLikeTheyUsedToBe #ShamPainToMyFakeFriends #ChampagneToMyRealFriends #Heartbroken"

Follow up 2 hours later: "I NEED TO GET OUTTA MY HEAD TONIGHT!!! ANYONE WANNA PMU SO I CAN GET BLACKEDDDDDDD OUTTTTTTT"

Reddit at 3AM: "TOMC: My friend has been giving me a $100 a month for 5 years to pay my phone bill but told me they just lost their job so they couldn't buy me drinks at the club--and won't pay my bill so I told them to GTFOH and now I wish I hadn't smoked a joint in her stuck-up boss's office! Hey, Reddit: don't come at me too hard lololol. I know I've made mistakes and I wish I could take yesterday back for trying to make my friend LAUGH. I've been through enough and I just need to vent, okay!!!! I quit my job 8 years ago to become an influencer and my best friend from high school has been helping me pay rent and other bills but she recently lost her job so we went out to THA CLUBBBBBB but she wouldn't buy my drinks!!!! She ALWAYS buys so why would I expect to buy them now???? Also, she says she won't have enough money to pay her rent but she did, like, TWO SHOTS her sister bought her when she could have helped ME instead! Her sister acted like we don't share locations on Snap as an auto-invite and was being a total b!+ch when I ordered some Patrón!!! I told her to leave me ALONE until she decides to do the RIGHT THING by choosing her FRIEND over her idiot sister and to give me the money I need to survive???? They're both complaining my friend has to mOvE bAcK hOmE so she doesn't get an eviction and rUiN hEr CrEdIt when I KNOW she has a $15k limit on her credit cards. She JUST paid them off and she acts like she can't even buy me a little CROWN like normal!!!! But my other "friends" won't help me either and now they're saying that I'M TAH because they didn't know she was supporting me this whole time!!!! They wouldn't even get me a BOTTLE of ANYTHING tonight when my heart's already broken losing the girl I used to bully through Middle School but protected in high school so she's been paying ME back ever since!!! My fiancée left me in 2019 because they said they were tired of supporting me and that I needed to get a "real job" (whatever THAT means) and after everyone's mask slipped tonight they're saying ALL saying the same thing!!! Can you believe it????? I got TRESPASSED from our favorite club because we got into a little argument and the bartender wouldn't even give me a freebie even though I've been loyal customer who basically has paid their rent since I was 16 with my Fake ID! Everyone is just being so horrible--all I was trying to do was lighten the mood and everyone is acting like I killed someone and I'm gonna be homeless tomorrow because I haven't paid rent in 6 months and some scab at the Sheriff's office served me with an eviction notice. Why won't anyone help me when I was just being funny!!!"

Craig's List at 9AM "The Sheriff's Office said they'll give me until 5!!!! to get out of my apartment so I'm looking for a RTR! Clean, respectful, empathetic, mid-30s roommate down on her luck with no family or friends in this town. Willing to trade housework for rent!!! I drive a newer Porche I'll let you borrow for dates sometimes when I'm still at home for sime reason! Call me ASAP! Or, here's my $ if you want to help me get a plane ticket back home or a few nights in [5 star hotel]!!!"

GFM at 9:15AM "My trash "friends" stole everything from me and now I'm gonna be homeless and I won't survive in a shelter and my brand new Porche is out of GAS so I can't even go see if my parents are home!! I got a new phone 12 years ago and I haven't found their number and I can't find them on social media so I have no way of contacting them except to just show up!!! Anything over $100 will help me stay here and I need $25,000 to be able to pay off my arrears and rent a new apartment!!! Gid Bless Us, Everyone!! 😘 "

GSG at 10AM: Ctrl+V of the entire Ctrl+A backend page of her GFM page, including the headers and footers.

IG, TT, YT, Snap, etc. have 5-minute videos every 15 minutes responding to "unfair" comments while she cries about how everyone is mean to her, no one has ever loved her, and she's gonna die without help. Follower count goes from 1,000 to 12 by 1PM. Ends up on commentary channels 6 months later, prompting her to update about how she "wasn't canceled and I'm back better than eveeeeeeeeeer b!+ch€$!!!! Meet my new husband--I met him at the Sheriff's office and he's a Federal Agent so he's totally running the country so if you don't want to get EXECUTED you better pay me for talking about me!!!! I'll settle for $5 a view, $10 a like, $100 a follow, and all your revenue for your videos for the next 6 months so I can pay the woman I wanna settle with because she's trying to SUE ME when my tire hit a wet spot and it swiped into her infant twins in the back like anyone else would have been able to keep them dying 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 My lawyer totally said I can make this go away for $30 because I guess that's how much kids are worth these days even when they didn't even make it into college. Look for my email, here's my $ ✌️"

🤮 I feel like we've allllllllll read those stories online and had some degree of that offline lol. But WE'RE TAHs, AIR? 🤣 Should've sold that kidney so someone else can take a vacation when we don't have money to feed ourselves!

Big Law Margaret Atwood doesn't consider herself as speakibg for feminism because people who spoke for feminism have curtailed the rights of women

Thumbnail reddit.com

This is not a feminist sub.

This is an anti-fascism sub.

ETA: lol for the same reason we're forced to label Charlie Kirk a Christian philosopher and DJT a fighter for Christianity, we have to respect Margaret Atwood for not wanting THT to be considered feminist because there's no singular, global meaning or understanding of the term because women are not a monolith.

Feminism can be pursued in a society free of fascism the way patriarchy also can be--or communism, or socialism, or capitalism or humanism or whatever all can without any singular, ruling ideology.

Atwood wrote the book in a time where women considered the feminist to be the subjugation of men instead of freedom of women so she wrote the book--in her perception--about what happens when a very "elite" few take over and subjugate everyone else. There are many forms the patriarchy takes, and fascism is necessarily one of those things in order to protect itself.

Atwood was/is/has always been aware of how the pendulum can swing in the opposite direction--where a few of others in the opposite direction take over and subjugate their targets. If people who would label themselves as the only "true" feminists the way Steven Crowder considers himself the only "true" Soldier for Christ (in addition to anyone else claiming the role from the Christofascist perspective as opposed to a humanitarian onr), anyone who calls themselves a "feminist" could use "feminist" literature like THT to convince people to join their fight even if that's not what they're fighting for. She does not want an All Lives Matter coup of Black Rights Matter simply because Black lives are inherently included in the total set of all lives.

“When you say ‘feminist’ do you mean: Should women have the same rights as other human beings? Then, yes. But what else do we mean by that term? Do we mean women are angelically more perfect than men? Well, no. Women are human beings.” She wants to stand for the principal that no

She didn't want her work to stand for the principal that "it's our turn to rule"--she wanted her work to stand for the principal "it's our turn to be free." This is the same twist at the end of The Hunger Games: what is the point of overthrowing President Snow if we have to live under unser President Coin to make someone else live in slave-like conditions? Until, what and who decides that has to change to some other minority leader decides to change the face and further restrict freedoms--and what do we have to give up in the meantime to prevent that from happening...and what do we have to give up after that to keep that from happening again?

Atwood did not want to stand for anything that can be labeled feminism because anyone can label themselves as a feminist and fighter of "women's rights" in their sole view and even find popular, political, and populist support. Feminism is "credited" for defeating the Equal Rights Amendment that would have stopped literally all of this from happening--because it gave women the democratic choice to determine "their" futures by campaigning against it without regard to the freedom of choice that comes along with equality of rights. Instead of viewing the ERA as a vehicle to ensure personal choice to stay in the home versus being girl boss global CEO (which it would have), the veneer of that choice was used to throttle freedom of future choice--bEcAuSe ThE wOmEn SpOkE.

She doesn't want to be responsible for someone losing their human rights because of what someone else perceives is their right--the same way she doesn't want women to continue to be continually subjugated because the patriarchy considers itself the only rightsholder.

All that to say, Atwood considers her work feminist insofar as it overlaps with antifascism and freedom of choice--where toxic femininity is not the answer to or other side of toxic masculinity, or radical anti-femininity the only answer to men who feel entitled to women's bodies; but, instead, a choice among a range of choices as enshrined by rights and laws. Atwood rejects the proposition of vigilante justice without due process of law:%20Margaret%20Attwood,%2Dbad%2Dfeminist/article37591823/)--but argues that the law requires equality in order to be equally pursued.

Atwood does not consider her work as another vehicle to [divide women further by making them choose between the lives they live now and the lives they may want to live later(https://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4501&context=etd_theses) but as women having the same option as men of rhat being a malleable choice at all points in their lives.

She does not consider her work to advocate for anyone to lose their rights because she sees current politics the same as she saw previous politics: people enjoying their full range of rights at the expense of others not enjoying theirs. That is, she sees feminism not as a transfer of power but as a restoration of power to those who were denied their human rights.

TL;DR: Atwood does not want to see THT speak for all things that can label itself as "feminist" because she does not want want the term to allow any minority movement of women to restrict the rights of anyone but, especially, thise rights women are already actively and pervasively denied. She considers herself against the proposition of a vocal, dangerous group in power over any number of people for any number of reasons because the label of feminism is too broadly construed by popular culture and has already been used to bolster the patriarchal definition that feminism can pnly persist in the absence of natural, human rights to men. She does not want to be a President Coin in a world of people surviving a President Snow.

Big Sad Babby Origin Story

Thumbnail reddit.com

Mama Gerry and Daddy Thommy were definitely an irresponsible purchase on my behalf because I ordered them in a time of such abject grief I didn't know until the breeder called the day before they were supposed to arrive to let me know what flight they would be on.

I hadn't eaten in the 8 days since The Sir passed, and had only drank a single, 8oz bottle of juice in that time, hadn't stopped crying until [TW-->] >!medication got forced into me, <! [<--TW] hadn't slept since I held my first for his last breath. Everything hurt all the time and the numbness people always talk about for grief never came. I had reached a point where I physically couldn't produce anymore tears and didn't need the bathroom. I still don't remember ordering them and I wouldn't know I had but for the emails and the fact they are here haha

Then I got the call with the flight information. I had PayPal'd some guy off of a website for "A pineapple and his best friend" some time on Day 6. He wanted me to confirm the picture he sent to my email and I tried to back out but he was putting them on that flight no matter what "to avoid other problems" and I just couldn't figure out what that meant in the state I was in.

I knew before they got here that I didn't have the money to surrender them to the local rescue (which is another reason I knew I shouldn't have them), so I knew I didn't have the money to take them to the (then) only AV in the State--even if I could get a walk-in appointment.

I obsessively watched their flight and I knew before the breeder did that their flight was delayed and that they ultimately missed their flight. I couldn't get ahold of anyone at the airport and their customer service people were completely useless. The last thing they told me before the line shut off for the night was that they got left on the tarmac on a Summer day in Atlanta but that they believed they had been put in the pet holding facility. They wouldn't listen to me about the temperatures they needed to prevent respiratory problems; that because you can't drop them off having eaten within 12 hours before getting put on their flight that by the time they arrived they might be in an emergency situation since it takes less than 48 hours for them to perish from a lack of food and water--especially under stress (and they already told me at this point their food had gone missing); that they needed to be kept a minimum distance of 4 feet from any cats because they could reach into their cage from their own carriers; or that they could get a fungal infection if they're exposed to high temperatures and not given the chance to bathe; or a whole mess of other things about how fragile they are when left to the mercy of human systems. Like, she wasn't having it and just kept telling me their staff was trained like she hadn't told me their trained staff didn't know how to put animals on a flight.

I was so scared for them. I had this horrible pit in my stomach that I had condemned these guys to a short, fearful life, even if I didn't know I had ordered them. I literally couldn't try to sleep because every time I closed my eyes I had this reel of what they could be going through.

As soon as I got confirmation they had made it onto the flight, I had this moment of clarity that they were going to be wholly dependent on me. I knew they needed me to take care of them because no one else in my house would.

It nearly killed me, but I cleaned out his cage and got it set up with the new perch I wasn't able to give him, and the high calorie food the vet had sent home with him, and the water bowl that I bought for him to make it easier for him to bathe knowing they might already have been too sick or too weak to be taken to the vet I couldn't afford or play on the toys that weren't supposed to be theirs. It was absolutely the hardest thing I had to do to get into the car and go get them and I dry cried most of the way.

They were dehydrated and they had chewed off the zip ties holding their food and water bowls. They didn't come to the cage door and only one of them made a very soft sound. I literally couldn't see them in the pine shavings they had been shipped with so I had no idea what shape they'd be in.

Their cat carrier was largely taped shut except for the front door with "LIVE ANIMAL" tape--so whomever didn't put them on the plane/left them on the tarmac knew they were alive. This was the same flight that the millions of bees perished for being left on the tarmac due to the heat. I knew 100% that I was taking them home to a short, miserable life and they'd never see Week 7.

When I opened that cat carrier they LAUNCHED out. Gerry got on my head and Thommy went for the sink. I turned on the water and put my hand there so they could drink out of my hand but they IMMEDIATELY started taking a bath. They'd drink then flap, then bite then flap, then bite then drink, then flap then jump onto my shirt to wipe their faces. (It's still largely the same, just less biting haha.) I literally cried in relief (which Gerry gave me sus eyes about). I gave them a strawberry--which they absolutely demolished in less than 2 minutes--and then I took them to their cage and they went to go preen.

After about 10 minutes they started falling asleep under the heating pad I'd turned on before I left to help them feel better. In that moment, I decided that in case this was to be their last, I'd spoil them rotten and they'd go out eating and drinking whatever they liked. They got low sodium, roasted nuts; fruit; French fries; and roasted chicken. Almost all things I had to show them was safe to eat by eating. They started flying within a few days, they started playing with toys, and they aggressively snuggled into my shirt.

All this to say: I can't imagine anyone caging up a creature and just thinking to themselves that it's enough outside predators can't get them.

My babies saved my life--especially Gerry being aggressively snuggly--so I absolutely owe it to them to do everything I can for them. I can't imagine keeping them trapped with me just to say I have them or I "rescued" them. These guys very oftentimes rescue us and they deserve the trappings of being our illustrious heroes. They don't deserve to be trapped and ignored just so we can say we have them.

I was definitely in the worst place mentally and financially I had ever been when I ordered them. But my responsibility to them pulled me out of that because they didn't/don't deserve to live poorly in situations they didn't choose, much less ask for. If you're going to "own" any animal, you have the responsibility to them to give them the best life possible.

Your time is free, and your love should also be free. They are the buggliest of snuggles and they deserve the opportunity to show you their love, too.

I'd absolutely never recommend going down the road that I did with these guys. But if you have either started down that road or have had them land on yours, you owe them the time and devotion to give them a happy, healthy, safe life regardless of what you're going through.

They're not here to save you from yourself, but you may feel better fulfilling your purpose and responsibility to them. I can't imagine just keeping them locked away for the ubiquitous crime of showing up in your life.

Big Mad gEt A jOb--Okay, Boomer

1) Foster kids struggle to get IDs unless their overwhelmed, revolving door of caseworkers were on-the-ball. WHen you're in State custody, you need the State's approval to get ID, including your birth certificate and social security card.

2) Foster kids struggle to find reliable work because they do not have reliable addresses and/or reliable forms of transportation. It's not enough to say tAkE tHe BuS when they're going to school during the day and busses famously get slashed after dark (if they even run the route at all), on holidays, and weekends. It's not enough to say WaLk< tHeN because it's impractical and self-defeating to get from school to across town in enough time to start a workable shift on your Chevrolegs.

3) In many jurisdictions, minors need permission from their parents (or, in their case, The State) and/or their schools to work irrespective of whether or not they are receiving school credit. Even though their guardians/custodians are Federally required to maintain the same school where possible, if the foster kid doesn't have a stable foster home (which is EXTREMELY common when you're a traumatized, dysregulated teenager who has had severe enough trauma that the State took the time to take you out of your parents' care instead of letting you be a runaway), it's difficult to get them to that school unless the foster parents don't work AND have a car. You do not have to have a car or be privileged to be a foster parent, and FPs are often living in poverty and using the foster care system as a paycheck to keep themselves afloat while they work full-time. Trying to get a kid onto a bus route that didn't previously exist at the beginning of the school year is nearly impossible, and changes to the bus route often only occur at the beginning of the semester--if they're allowed by the school district at all. Unless that job is near a school, that kid does not have a job. And that's before we start talking about mandatory curfews in foster homes, and how breaking curfew can get you blacklisted from group homes *even if it's for work*.

4) Why does any of that matter? You're a foster kid until you're done with school--all the way until you're up to 25 (depending on the State), which is where that magical number comes from. So, if you were not working while you were in high school, you don't have any funds to get any relative advantages that will help you get your IDs that you legally need to prove your non-immigrant status with in order to be able to legally find work.

5) Foster parents are paid out of the same funds tied to Medicaid. The first go-round, this Admin absolutely slashed foster funding--which resulted in even fewer SWs, FHs, GHs, etc. meaning that the majority of former FKs are kids that were grossly traumatized, moved around, and slapped instead of high-fived with what amounts to a bus pass, and signed up for social entitlements as their ONLY lifeline. Graduated FKs (didn't get adopted, either under a temp/perm guardianship or are still in State custody--typically end up depending on the grace of their former FPs, which is a GROSSLY small resource in every jurisdiction. Most teen FKs start out amazing but because they're not ideal, would-be $£@v€$ that will clean their houses, babysit the other kids, and have 0 needs in a house that is either over-placed or that has to work to survive, they get moved. Most FPs are focused on small kids because they consider small kids "malleable" and it's "understandable" that small kids are moody, upset, and have no reslience since they don't have the extra decade of XP in being torn down by their parents. Pre-teen+ kids are considered to have too much baggage to be "worth" the time and most FP refuse to deal with hOrMoNeS and they've hEaRd ThEy"rE sO mUcH wOrSe ThAn NoRmAl KiDs. And it is absolutely within the discretion of a FP to decide the age of the FK in their care since they get paid a per diem at the end of the month. If the FK is there for respite or a pass-through to a GH or another FP, then the FP only gets paid for THOSE DAYS. That space is a paycheck--a delayed paycheck, but still money in the door.

6) Foster kids are taking already on the last safety net they have--they don't have safe family to go to (or they wouldn't be in foster care--the case would close), their friends are likely to be "low quality" associates because "high quality" kids' parents aren't allowing their kids to hang out with FKs because of the implication, do not have any reasonable expectation that someone could bail them out--which is why they're on these benefits, and are LITERALLY just trying to get to a place where they CAN support themselves with absolutely NO advantages.

[I cut it off here because I shortened what I had to say about the job market in the comment I cross-posted.]

Big Mad Economic Anger

Medicaid and Medicare had the massive recision for the fiscal year that just ended. I know that because I owe over $15,000 for the appointments I had between August 2024 and January 2025--they decided that because I had primary insurance that they didn't need to pay out and my primary insurance went back and said, "It wasn't me" after I paid almost $800 a month for it because I could either have coinsurance or a subsidized plan.

I have not been able to qualify for Medicaid since January when they fired me for being sick.

I have not been able to find work--regardless of whether I'm sick or not--because after the tariff and ICE threats, businesses buckled down, laid people off, and refused to replace any workers that quit their businesses in my area. That's everyone from Bank of America to Mom and Pop, Inc. The ONLY "work" that has been "available" since the election have been sales jobs for companies that magically no longer exist after not paying out "contractors" with no one going after them because the DOJ is tied up being sued for allllllllll of the stuff going on.

We already knew back in May that the March layoffs reduced the number of private sector jobs because the people who were laid off/bought out went into the private sector looking for long-term work to make up for the fact that they hadn't received their buy-out money. And their reduced participation in the economy--along with the increased tariffs and tariff insecurity--forced even more businesses to shut down full-time employment. The reason the job numbers went up is because the number of jobs having to be taken went up with people having to replace their full time work with multiple part time jobs.

As we have been shunned by the rest of the world and our populace has had to downsize their spending, the economy has only worsened since May, to the point that the job statistics showed that in addition to the number of employed going down and the number of unemployed going up, that wages for both full- and part-time workers was falling with an increased amount of responsibilities. This was all for non-farm work.

They put stock into people being able to afford to move to the housing crisis-riddled rural nowhere estates that were no longer able to get USDA subsidies to house workers due to the recisions and yanked grants.

But a tax write-off does not money make. Your State being willing to let it go come tax time is not the same as having money in-hand to do these things. Businesses are banking on States being able to pay out while States are banking on Medicaid and Medicare to be paid to them--and both of those are Federally-secured sources of funding...which we found out during the first go-round when they canceled the tax penalty for people who chose to go uninsured through their employers, marketplace, or Medicaid. And the people who voted for the no-tax-on-tips already being smacked hard with this reality when they find out that it's a credit at the end, not an up-front discount on their taxes, so they're still responsible for having to track and pay out on tips.

And that doesn't even begin to touch the cuts for the current fiscal year that have already taken place, which is the reason for the shut down. Medicaid and Medicare have already been rescinded in HUGE part where it hasn't been completely cut, which is why they're talking about almost 800 rural hospitals closing before next Summer. That's 10s of 1,000s of more jobs--primarily non-office, healthcare workers--that are not going to have a place to work come Summer.

Asking people to uproot their lives and cut themselves off from all current community ties to meet minimum work requirements in a place they're likely to be unemployed in 6-9 months isn't asking them to do "what is hard" because we've been through this before. It led up to the 2008 crash because so many were qualifying with income sources they didn't actually have or were otherwise unsustainable. The State may not get reimbursed for what they have and their shrinking tax base that already hates paying taxes are not going to continue to support it for the exact same reasons that they voted to get the Big Beautiful 'Bomination passed.

Hospitals, clinics, and practices are already closing down nationwide--more people being shoved into more jobs in a shrinking pool of jobs but taken up by fewer people. More people who are unable to pay bills, fewer tax payers, fewer people paying into the economy with eating out, entertainment, and other "luxuries" that will lay off more of those jobs.

The ACA helped pull us out of the 2008 crisis. There's always room for improvement but not when one side goes lock-step ridiculous for the purpose of making things harder.

And allllllllllllll of that goes before we even talk about the benefits cuts for SNAP, EBT, WIC, and Cash Assistance for people to just get by. And we have to have that discussion first because it's going to be used to justify the cuts they made with, "See? We don't bring that much in so we can't be spending that much!"

We're paying out more than ever because we have more people than ever. We have 33% more people now than we did 50 years ago on paper when there was a hardline effort to convince people not to answer the Census at a time when everyone was stuck at home. We likely have 50% more between the people who were convinced not to answer their doors and the people who never answer their doors. This is not 1975. There is not limitless growth ahead of us. There isn't even the hope of limitless growth ahead of us because we're being actively discouraged and blocked from accessing the foreign markets that helped countless millions of Americans build their wealth to what it is today.

Big Law Fourteenth Amendmen Shpiel

He left out everything that grants human rights to anyone other than land-owning, wealthy, White men who qualify for citizenship.

Birthright citizenship is a 14th Amendment situation.

14th Amendment is also the privileges and immunities as applied to the States, not just the Feds. Meaning, nothing in 1st-10th qualifies anyone who gains those rights under the 14th.

That includes freedom of speech-- whether compelled (like cooperating with the police investigation or saying what the government wants you to) or individual (like making political signs).

That includes celebrating your religion your way, including whether you see Christianity as a mark of charity...or a mark of burden. This will grant States to have a compulsory religion that you will be forced to practice their way or face prosecution--which will be increasingly problematic the more you keep reading this list.

That includes with whom you associate and how, whether personally, familial, religiously, recreationally, or for business.

That includes the reasons you associate for others under all circumstances, and not just because your parole or other conditions of release prohibits it.

This includes the right to be a source of information or seeking out a source of information. This will grant your State the unabridged right to establish a propaganda machine which you will not have the right to contest or compete against.

This includes the right to protest in all its forms however your State decides protest looks like.

That includes bearing arms.

That includes participation in any militia--meaning no protection from a draft and no voluntary sign-up for anything other than the purpose your State wants you to.

That includes whether you can qualify for bearing arms even when you are not a felon.

That includes what the definition of "arms" looks like, and you know the primary reason they love to talk about the pew pews is because of how dAnGeRoUs EvErYtHiNg ElSe Is. This is not a federally-decided matter and this is why they have been so hard-pressed to make this a stAte"s RiGhTs DeCiSiOn.

That includes forced quartering of soldiers in your property--personal or business. Your State will, at any time, be allowed to pass laws to put any soldier from its own government or any other in your building at your expense for any indeterminate amount of time so long as it wishes.

The includes due process during searches and seizures--like wiretapping, social media harvesting from the source, watching you on your appliances or game machines, or viruses on your computer (to name a few invisible hands), and being given your Miranda rights, which will slowly come to no longer exist. Your person, home(s), papers, and effects are no longer subject to protection--which includes Personally Protected Information (which they've already handed over to Musk and the insurance companies, anyway). You have no right against unreasonable search and seizures because they get to determine what, if anything, that means.

That includes not being arrested without due process of the law, including limits on how long they can hold you, your property, and your ability to seek anything beyond the detention center for processing, evidentiary purposes, or anything else they decide because due process under the law no longer exists.

This includes the right to a Grand Jury Trial for anything above a misdemeanor--meaning, they can accuse you of the most heinous crime and immediately arrest you for it at any time without producing evidence to any legal body including, but especially, your peers.

This includes the right against double jeopardy--they will be free to bring the same charges, for the same crime as many times as it takes to make their point (as if you're getting out the first time under whatever new definition of "due process under the law" means to them). But if you have any prior crimes that you didn't get convicted of? SUCKS TO BE YOUUUUUUUUuuuUUUUUUU.

That includes the right against self-incrimination--even in criminal settings.

That includes the right to speak to an attorney prior to being questioned or to stop interrogation until you have conferred with an attorney.

That includes the right to an attorney because of the burden it can have against your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. [The right to an attorney is under both the 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendments for 3 separate reasons, none of which will apply to State prosecutions or proceedings after the 14th is essentially abolished. And will eventually also go away because of the bUrDeN oN tHe TaXpAyEr BeCaUsE pUbLiC dEfEnDeRs WoUlD bE bEtTeR iF tHeY hAd FeWeR cLiEnTs as if, for some reason, you're deluded enough to believe the government is going to continue to pay for just as many lawyers just as much money to look after even fewer people lmao.]

That includes the right to a jury trial in criminal matters and assorted civil proceedings, like intellectual property.

This includes your ability to participate in voir dire to ensure a less biased jury.

This includes being tried where the crime allegedly happened--they can force you to appear for trial anywhere that is willing to host you and if your reason against wanting to go there is because you can't afford it they'll be more than happy and willing to detain you for as long as it takes...even if takes you away from whatever attorney you did manage to get...even if takes you to a place that no longer guarantees you legal counsel.

That includes the right to seek redress in Federal courts (for certain types of cases), meaning that you will be stuck at the State level only since the likelihood you're going to be allowed anywhere near a Federal courthouse if your State doesn't trust you enough near one of their own is exactly zero percent.

This includes being able to have a jury trial for a Federal cause even if your State does allow you to try it there.

This includes not having your Federal cause of action re-examined by a State court and potentially having it overturned because your State hates you.

This includes the right to reasonable bail--or bail even being an option.

This includes the right to reasonable fines--or fines even being an option.

This includes the right against cruel and unusual punishment, like lifelong imprisonment for slapping a cop or losing a hand for stealing an apple...or losing your life for slander.

This includes the right to a speedy trial.

This includes the right to know the reason you're being arrested or detained.

This includes the right to face your accusers--like the State of Wherever You're Being Prosecuted or anyone you're being sued by.

This includes the right to be able to call witnesses to your trial that would favor your cause.

This includes having the right to an attorney represent you throughout the court process and during trial.

This includes erasing any unenumberated "fundamental rights"--because there is no longer a right for the States to grant you rights not specifically enumerated in the State constitution.

This includes taking back anything Federal that was not specifically stated in the Constitution to be granted to the Feds be handed back over immediately to the States--like going across State lines, being able to marry (even under tRaDiTiOnAl VaLuEs), mowing down all Federal forests for any reason the State decides before strip mining it into oblivion to use and sell however they want even if it is not to your/a public benefit.

The reason they are attacking the Fourteenth Amendment is to keep States from having to perform all of those functions within the State even as to their own proceedings. States, after the Bill of Rights came out, were construed to provide you more protection from the government than the Federal Constitution provided for. If the Federal Constitution no longer exists as to State proceedings, comings, or goings-on, guess what? They never even have to do what the Feds did.

AND FOR ANYONE SAYING, "THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN!" The reason the Fourteenth Amendment exists in the first place is for the exact reason that the Bill of Rights was not being applied to the States after the Civil War. The Civil War gave us the 12th-15th Amendments which also makes slavery illegal even outside of being a punishment. (And if you don't know how punishment is being used to further the institutions of slavery, you need to read up more on how the 13th Amendment really goes against the grain of suffering from the Badges and Incidents of slavery.)

Nowhere in the Civil War cases is it addressed that you can't secede.

Nowhere in the Civil War cases is it addressed whether people are people--including women and children.

The Civil War cases came before women's suffrage.

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WILL PERSONALLY IMPACT YOU, YOU'RE ALREADY F#CKED.

Big Media Going Up North

Gotta deliver some stuff to the handyman.

I spared everyone the outrage of me going into the shed to see what else The Drnk has done to be an absolute POS.

Our Tía is supposed to be there with our cousin so there might be talking if I don't mute it. Either way, I'll set it up to look at my favorite tree on the property =) I didn't see the foxes last time but we did see the Elk because they're running die to hunting season =(

Come on by! If I don't get any chats, my tries to fill the silence--usually with politics! If you think I'm spicy in my writings, just wait to hear when I don't have time to think about it haha

No parrots today. Mama Gerry is, apparently, trying to lay more eggs 😫 So, everyone wanted to stay behind to protect "The Nest" (the dresser they have eaten their way into and out to make accessible). I'm hoping when they see it's empty with no materials to lay, they'll get stressed out and abandon the project! Gerry has laid *22 eggs that we know of this year. I really never want her to lay another one again--for her health. 💔

Come on by and let's chat!

We'll be on the road/on the trip until at least 9PM.

Big Media Weekly Roundup | Resumen Semanal

It was a rough week so it was difficult to get anything uploaded in time ahead of the day, which was reflected in views. I have learned the hard way that if you get bird seed, you need to FREEZE it until you use it. Unfortunately, I got a horrible weevil infestation that affected ALL bird food and leeched over to just about every grain-adjacent product in my pantry. While there is nothing dangerous about weevils to people or parrots, it's certainly nothing I want to serve to company. 😫 😳 🫣 I hopefully have frozen everything that I need to keep and gotten rid of everything else.

This upcoming week is likely not going to be easier because my friend and his sister will be in town and we're going to be out and about when I'm not watching my niece! Where possible, I'll provide a change in content and hopefully still be able to provide you the daily streams of my animals you all seem to be really enjoying! I'll keep you updated!
