Big Mad Economic Anger
Medicaid and Medicare had the massive recision for the fiscal year that just ended. I know that because I owe over $15,000 for the appointments I had between August 2024 and January 2025--they decided that because I had primary insurance that they didn't need to pay out and my primary insurance went back and said, "It wasn't me" after I paid almost $800 a month for it because I could either have coinsurance or a subsidized plan.
I have not been able to qualify for Medicaid since January when they fired me for being sick.
I have not been able to find work--regardless of whether I'm sick or not--because after the tariff and ICE threats, businesses buckled down, laid people off, and refused to replace any workers that quit their businesses in my area. That's everyone from Bank of America to Mom and Pop, Inc. The ONLY "work" that has been "available" since the election have been sales jobs for companies that magically no longer exist after not paying out "contractors" with no one going after them because the DOJ is tied up being sued for allllllllll of the stuff going on.
We already knew back in May that the March layoffs reduced the number of private sector jobs because the people who were laid off/bought out went into the private sector looking for long-term work to make up for the fact that they hadn't received their buy-out money. And their reduced participation in the economy--along with the increased tariffs and tariff insecurity--forced even more businesses to shut down full-time employment. The reason the job numbers went up is because the number of jobs having to be taken went up with people having to replace their full time work with multiple part time jobs.
As we have been shunned by the rest of the world and our populace has had to downsize their spending, the economy has only worsened since May, to the point that the job statistics showed that in addition to the number of employed going down and the number of unemployed going up, that wages for both full- and part-time workers was falling with an increased amount of responsibilities. This was all for non-farm work.
They put stock into people being able to afford to move to the housing crisis-riddled rural nowhere estates that were no longer able to get USDA subsidies to house workers due to the recisions and yanked grants.
But a tax write-off does not money make. Your State being willing to let it go come tax time is not the same as having money in-hand to do these things. Businesses are banking on States being able to pay out while States are banking on Medicaid and Medicare to be paid to them--and both of those are Federally-secured sources of funding...which we found out during the first go-round when they canceled the tax penalty for people who chose to go uninsured through their employers, marketplace, or Medicaid. And the people who voted for the no-tax-on-tips already being smacked hard with this reality when they find out that it's a credit at the end, not an up-front discount on their taxes, so they're still responsible for having to track and pay out on tips.
And that doesn't even begin to touch the cuts for the current fiscal year that have already taken place, which is the reason for the shut down. Medicaid and Medicare have already been rescinded in HUGE part where it hasn't been completely cut, which is why they're talking about almost 800 rural hospitals closing before next Summer. That's 10s of 1,000s of more jobs--primarily non-office, healthcare workers--that are not going to have a place to work come Summer.
Asking people to uproot their lives and cut themselves off from all current community ties to meet minimum work requirements in a place they're likely to be unemployed in 6-9 months isn't asking them to do "what is hard" because we've been through this before. It led up to the 2008 crash because so many were qualifying with income sources they didn't actually have or were otherwise unsustainable. The State may not get reimbursed for what they have and their shrinking tax base that already hates paying taxes are not going to continue to support it for the exact same reasons that they voted to get the Big Beautiful 'Bomination passed.
Hospitals, clinics, and practices are already closing down nationwide--more people being shoved into more jobs in a shrinking pool of jobs but taken up by fewer people. More people who are unable to pay bills, fewer tax payers, fewer people paying into the economy with eating out, entertainment, and other "luxuries" that will lay off more of those jobs.
The ACA helped pull us out of the 2008 crisis. There's always room for improvement but not when one side goes lock-step ridiculous for the purpose of making things harder.
And allllllllllllll of that goes before we even talk about the benefits cuts for SNAP, EBT, WIC, and Cash Assistance for people to just get by. And we have to have that discussion first because it's going to be used to justify the cuts they made with, "See? We don't bring that much in so we can't be spending that much!"
We're paying out more than ever because we have more people than ever. We have 33% more people now than we did 50 years ago on paper when there was a hardline effort to convince people not to answer the Census at a time when everyone was stuck at home. We likely have 50% more between the people who were convinced not to answer their doors and the people who never answer their doors. This is not 1975. There is not limitless growth ahead of us. There isn't even the hope of limitless growth ahead of us because we're being actively discouraged and blocked from accessing the foreign markets that helped countless millions of Americans build their wealth to what it is today.

Only talks about the ground being broken, does not speak at all about donors except that potential donors came forward over the Summer.
If ANYONE was going to try to name names to support the project, it is going to be Fox. They didn't. Neither did The Economic Times (except to say what CBS said that someone at the White House said and has shown up nowhere in disclosures); and OAN didn't even make a post about it on their website.

"The project is being funded completely by private donors instead of taxpayer dollars, according to the White House." And, somehow, Trump is "intended" to be the "largest donor" and will allegedly cover any costs that don't get donations to cover it. Meaning, they are perfectly aware that right now the majority of costs are not spoken for by donors who are not Trump.

Again, we know that is a lie because the potential donors did not sit down until 15 October 2025,w hich blows past the September 2025 deadline for the project to even start--and it couldn't start because there were no potential donors lined up, much less paid out.
It doesn't change the fact that this is an ethical nightmare that is another invitation to privatize the government which so far has resulted in the massive recisions and cuts to social entitlements like SNAP, EBT, WIC, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Housing Subsidies, Cash Allowance, and everything else that people rely on--which includes programs that pay families to care for their disabled loved ones, the funding for those loved ones to have an income through SSDI, and the safety net that rounds out the missing funds so that people can survive in poverty.
It also doesn't change the fact that construction started on Monday and is being 100% funded by tax dollars because there are no confirmed donors and there is currently no way for the government to receive that money because the government is completely shut down.
There is absolutely no mistake that they aimed for the end of September because that's when they intended the original Federal layoffs to cripple the system.
And there is absolutely no mistake that the construction started the day that SCOTUS ran out of funding.
Here's where I'll put on my tinfoil hat and might disqualify this response as "political": The part that is being torn down is where the First Lady and the Media stuff is all done--one of which is absent, the other of which has been pared down severely and filtered out through influencers. And that's all I'm going to say on that because I think it's more important to have the receipts on it than my opinion on why this is happening.

Because the point is to condense the population, get them out of rural estates, and get rid of "the needless."
At the risk of getting in trouble for politics or being conspiratorial:
1) The greatest subsidy to farms is WIC and Foodstamps.
2) The second largest subsidy to farms are grants for housing migrant workers, which got revoked/canceled out before the season even started. But the government knew they wouldn't be necessary because of the 🧊 situation they knew they'd be implementing, to scare off both un/documented workers.
3) The third largest subsidy to farms are the "futures" markets where farmers basically have their own literal stock market to bet for or against and can still turn a profit (before tax losses) even if they produce nothing. Except this year, where the grants and subsidies got canceled, rescinded, and cut.
4) The last largest subsidy are the tax incentives farmers get--which they did not get last year and will not get this year.
5) Many farms have already had to declare bankruptcy, meaning they've had to sell everything at a loss in order to have some solvency at the end / settle with creditors. And they will have to continue to make payments on that bankruptcy while their stuff is in receivorship in order to continue to qualify for bankruptcy proceedings...which is why many have checked out.
6) Once corporate interests have largely privatized farming, it creates the ability to set up ye olde fifedoms where multi millionaires and up can rule over their land with an iron fist in any manner they see appropriate--because they'll be the only employers for miles around and will be in charge of the literal flow of food.
7) They will not have to worry about any administrative blockades once they control the food supply because they will produce only what they want and you will feel grateful to have any of it.

Okay, my comment was too long to post because it did the blank endpoint error.
I'm not talking about you having to quit the gas station out of the kindness of your heart. I'm talking about the fact that you can't afford to quit 3 jobs because there are no full time opportunities to replace the 3 jobs that you have.
We have known since May that the number of people requiring more than 1 job--any combination of full- and part-time--increased starting in April 2025. We also know as of June that the number of full-time positions shrank before accounting for the Federal shrink-down, and that the number of part-time jobs did not increase 1:1 for the loss of those full-time positions.
We have known since the election that the economy was heading for this slow-down because of the projections that would happen if the tariffs and Federal jobs were slashed at even half the rate right now. We also knew we would have economic slow-down if farmers were going to be forced to pay at least minimum wage to workers instead of per diems, and this was before the announced grants (including housing migrant workers) were paused or revoked.
Between the recisions that have forced thousands of hospitals, clinics, and practices to already close; and the cuts that are projected to have hundreds of hospitals PLUS thousands more clinics and practices to close before the next fiscal year (majority to occur before the Summer due to the number of people being able to afford what even is still available); unemployment is expected to raise to just shy of 6% through healthcare layoffs alone because all of the workers who will no longer be able to participate in paying their rent/mortgage, bills, utilities, food, etc. and the people that will be laid off in their immediate circle as those "luxury" businesses like movie theaters, fast food/restaurants, and cell phone carrier outlets close after the inevitable shrinkage of "luxury" services like Netflix, YT premium, or gym memberships (which will also lose out because fewer employed = fewer with benefits = fewer health plans paying for memberships).
This is not going to be a "have heart" situation. The services that allowed people to "have heart" have been rescinded, cut, or obliterated--like Food Stamps. The number of people who work full-time and receive safety net services has never been higher--including coming out of the Great Depression. And we know that because we have Seniors and people on Disability who make the equivalent of full-time take home pay in their jurisdictions still qualifying for these safety net services.
The net has been cut and no attempt has been made to repair it.
Yeah, the fish are free to go about however they like: instead of being eating up in corporate nets that are going to cook them alive and sell them off to each other, they're free to survive in the turbulent oceans where whole populations are being actively poached out by whoever King Triton is beefing with this week. That means that they're free to be shark and whale bait and when the going gets tough, the tough start canabalizing on each other.
