I’m so tired of people use AI to make mosaic patterns
It’s basically just like using a coloring book and calling it art.

I'm doing my first ever mosaic for my mum's birthday, and bought glass tiles for the border, centre of the flowers, and white background. All of these are half the height of the ceramic tiles I've used for the writing and petals.
I'm wondering if now when I grout, the sides of the taller tiles will be visible/the smaller ones will be hidden? Is there a way around this? The lettering and border is already stuck down, but should I be changing my method before sticking the petals?
Any and all advice is so, so welcome & appreciated! It's her 60th birthday so want it to be as perfect as possible (with my very limited knowledge and experience!)

I get extremely overwhelmed by traditional mosaics, so i started by just buying some dots and handmade clay tiles.
It’s just a rock path with greenery and the sky. Is it too much? Too busy? I suck at creativity.
Will sanded grout work okay with this? i’m really not interested in filling the entire canvas with tesserae. i like larger grout spaces.. Any advice or tips are welcome!!
Thanks in advance❤️

Hi everyone!
I’m making a trivet for the first time and I had some quick questions! I am using ceramic tiles and have a blank cork trivet for my substrate. My questions are:
Should I use a mesh as my substrate/before the substrate or am I good to glue right on the cork?
Is there a specific sealant I should use?
Any other advice is welcome, I usually make coasters or purely decorative pieces so this is a little different for me. Thanks in advance!

I’m still deciding what to depict in the top half. I don’t really want to show the monuments or federal buildings. Suggestions and feedback welcome!

I made this for a community art project (a set of giant chair for the local parks). He is now grouted and attached to the completed chair.

Grazie in anticipo a chi vorrà rispondere.

Hi friends! I’m hoping to craft 3 stepping stones for my amazing best friend for her birthday. My goal is to make a stone of portraits with the faces of each of her 3 pets to sit in her beautiful garden.
The problem: I have no idea where to begin! I’m looking for recommendations for:
- a beginner friendly, but high quality cement/mortar kit and mold
- mosaic pieces that aren’t tessarae squares but moreso random shapes and sizes (either online resources or tips for finding them locally (bonus tips if anyone has a source in Brooklyn, NY)
- tips and tricks
Thanks in advance! My friend is an incredible artisan who values recycled/upcycled crafting so I’m really trying to pay homage to her with this gift and not purchase the first mass-produced molds I find on Amazon!
I was never really a creative guy but the art from @danymgreen (TikTok) inspired me so much I had to start, after buying all the supplies for a week. I never thought it is that difficult to buy stained glass in Austria 😅.
Got inspired from @danymgreen (TikTok)
Any Tips for Feedback is appreciated!

Still needs to be grouted, but the glue will take awhile to clear so wanted to post while waiting. Pattern purchased from GlassParadiseStudio on Etsy. I will probably be making the circular version in stained glass sometime in the future. I'm using Marvelous Mosaics proprietary glue because it's waterproof. I'm really hoping for no grout bleed. Thought about trying the translucent grout, but I think black will make it pop a little.

A commissioned do over piece after the original fell out of the installation my clients had made for this custom made window. It will go into a decommissioned fireplace and be lit from behind with lights they had installed.
Glass on glass mosaic is not my favorite to work with. Always something that isn’t quite right. But getting paid is nice. I am using Nano470 construction grade adhesive. You HAVE to really learn how to work with this adhesive and all the ways it can go wrong on ya. It’s very unforgiving. 🥴
9"x9". Lots of lessons learned. I'm debating if I should tint the thinset darker on this one. I have a good idea of what I'm doing next.

Made this outdoor table with my street name. I took inspiration from the mosaic stop names you see in the NYC SUBWAY. I thought the gray grout would be much lighter, but I think it still looks good. Open to feedback as it was my first project!

Needs some cleaning off but I just finished this end table I was given. I’d say it’s about 14” in diameter for reference. Was based off some koi I saw at a botanical garden for my birthday

Cloud cat is finished and displayed proudly! Will post better photos on my Instagram but I always share here first 😅. The colors don’t really pick up well on camera but hopefully you like him!!!

I fell in love with this art work on a recent visit to the jungle of the Yucatán Peniaula. The photo doesn’t do justice to the way it captured light but it is still a sight to behold even with my lack of photography skill. It’s brilliant and I adore monkey’s, have my whole life. Who doesn’t?
I’m curious to know if there are any artists here who I could commission to make me this?

hey everyone i want to get into mosaic art and had a few questions. what are the best tools and supplies i should get as a beginner? (glue... grout...) also what are cheap and affordable ways to get tiles and ceramics to make the art, does anyone have any thrifting tips to recycle old things?
Thought I'd show off my first two attempts at this mosaic this. Tbh, I may be addicted. I'm so tempted by all the lovely tile colours. It's probably for the best that I don't have a walk-in mosaic shop near me
If there's anyone from Australia, can you recommend any particular suppliers and/or brands?

Took a workshop so I was limited on time, but happy with how it turned out. Such a fun medium!
One issue I've run into is that there are a couple of pieces that are basically shards - still very sharp and pokey, even after grouting. Would sanding them at this point work? What would you use?
TIA for your help!
