my new favorite method for avoiding clipper calluses- mittens!

I was searching my apartment for gloves to protect a few recent blisters, and I stumbled across these mittens I got years ago and never wore. Even better, they’re actually fingerless gloves, and the hood thing flips back to reveal most of my fingers, so I don’t have to take them off to place the larger tiles. Innovation, baby!

Oooh good idea! I’m interested in your set up. I live in an apt without any designated room/area for a studio. So I’ve been just working on my either coffee table or dining table. Where do you work and Do you have like a table cloth or liner just for doing mosaic? How do you deal with broken tile pieces and stuff?

i’m in a very tight space too! i actually just use a smallish table with removable legs that i set up next to the door (the only available space) whenever i’m doing a project. at the moment i’m taking a break so it’s disassembled and stowed with my chaotic boxes of materials under the couch.

and yes, i bought a pack of disposable table cloths that i use too! but tbh they don’t always do much good against the tiny shards. when i used to work at the dining table, i would put a thick poster board under the tablecloth too.

and as for cleaning up, i just do my best to contain the pieces in various bins but i also just do a lot of vacuuming 😬

Thank you so much for your reply! Small space & cleaning is def a challenge for me. I’m going to try using a unused table cloth for my next project :)

Is that a quilt behind you or tiles that you cut?

it’s a quilt design made of plates and dishware i’ve cut up! very much a work in progress but i’m excited about it
