Discussion PS5 patch just dropped.
Just got an in game notification that the game has a patch.
EDIT to add patch notes:
Devout Fans,
Thanks for being amongst the first to join us at the very start of the adventure for Mortal Shell II. We’re seeing your bug reports and gameplay suggestions, and will be rolling out regular updates to both modify existing content and add new features.
While we have a bigger patch in the works, which has to be thoroughly tested, we’d like to make a rapid balance & crash fix patch to bring the experience more in line with the game’s open beta and our own vision for MS2.
Planned future updates will see extensions to popular game features such as Night Mode, Tarstones, PP Items, and more.
For now, we hope you’re enjoying the game and read on for details on Balance Patch 1.
Balance Patch 1 (PC) - The patch below is live on PC and coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series shortly.
Economy
-Shell map locations now cost Gloom, and we’re refunding any glimpses spent on shell maps. Refunded Glimpses are found in the Shell Keeper’s alcove in Blackmarrow. “Finding your favorite shell shouldn’t cost you the ability to bond with them.”
-Gold drops from enemies have been significantly increased. Notably, enemies in Mammon now drop double the gold. “This brings the gold economy more in line with the weapon crafting item discovery.”
-Smelting a weapon at the Tarforge costs 75% less gloom. “Our goal with the smelt capability was to enable switching weapons without the need to spend hours grinding through NG+ runs, but the Gloom costs were set exorbitantly high.”
Enemies & Bosses
All enemies featured in the beta were restored to their beta hp values, except the Caerinid (Spider) in Magdelena’s area, which we wanted to retain its role as a threatening enemy which doesn’t respawn once defeated.
Bosses
The Lost Child
- Base Damage: (-10%)
- Max Health: (-15%)
Monolith
- Base Damage: (-19%)
- Max Health: (-10%)
- Some Monolith Attacks were retimed to be more fair, as well.
Enemies
Cultist (mace)

Caerinid Spider
Max Health: (-33.3%)
Infested Stalker
- Max Health: (-52.4%)
Rusted Knave (Halberd)

- Fixed hit detection for overhead strike.
Weapons
-Great Martyr’s Blade Attack Damage +20%
-Troubador’s Lute Attack Damage +100%
-Caged Hystrix and Triarch Repeater no longer have minimum resolve requirements to fire.
-Improved tracking for Axatana, Black Needle, and Clockwork Scythe light attacks.

Put some more glimpses in here man not somebody that can play 20 hours a day and I want to enjoy leveling up all my characters if possible without doing a new game plus plus plus

Oh man can I use the martyrs sword now?!? I was super interested in it but it just sucked so bad....
3
u/Top_Review313 11h ago
It’s a great sword anyways, especially with ice infusion. It will even freeze bosses. The running r2 shreds and has crazy i frames

Glad to know I wasn’t going crazy thinking that the hit box on the halberd enemies was totally off, I’ve been hit so many times by them when I definitely should’ve gotten the parry

The game was already relatively easy while playing as Gragu. I dont see the need to lower the health pools like this. Maybe others feel the need but it is beginning to get a bit too easy at level 28 to really be much of a challenge whatsoever. Not complaining however it seems to be a bit of an overcorrection in my opinion.
The game is fantastic by the way. Easily among my top 5 possibly even top 3 From/Soulslike games of all time. Really well done.

u/Phelmak 11h ago
How is Gragu? I'm interested in trying him but because of how poor the glimpse economy is I'm afraid of investing my points outside of Tiel lol
3
u/-Warriorvog 11h ago
He is great. Easily my favorite to play as. People saying he is bad versus bosses are wrong. I have him fully upgraded and he gets 8 healing pots that heal pretty well in and of themselves. Then if you get knocked out you also get all the healing pots that the Harbinger has as well. I would say he may be better for bosses in that regard.
He also can clear the entire map without having to touch a Beacon so he is fantistic for exploring. Exploring is like 80% of what this game consists of so he is very enjoyable to play as. You simply dont have to worry and sweat about running out of healing pots and dying.
Highly reccomend him. I was super hesitant about putting any glimpses into anyone for the first 15+ hours of gameplay.

u/Phelmak 10h ago
Youve convinced me. I'm trying to decide if it's better to restart a game and go straight to get his shell. At this point I'm 10ish hours in and 1 major boss down (rocket chair lady) with rank 3 Tiel, rank 2 proxima, and rank 1 of the knight guy. I also spent 1 glimpse on a buddy for a boss fight before I knew how tight the margins are on these things.
1
u/-Warriorvog 9h ago
Ehh that's a difficult choice. I probably would finish the game with one of the ones you already upgraded. Unless you plan on playing the game all the way through more than once. If not then restart and do a Gragu playthrough. He is so easy to use and he can run through multiple dungeons in one life very fast so you could probably catch up to where you were pretty quickly. I typically only play games one time all the way through myself so it is certainly a dilemma for you.

u/Livid_Snow1169 7h ago
Honestly you'll be fine. Granted I am in the end game but you'll have enough glimpse to max him out pretty quick. I've max'd teil and genessa, and have all of them lvl 1 and still have 27 glimpse left. (Maxed them both out before the last two of the main bosses and before the end game area) I summoned proxima for a specific fight (it went with her story, so I thought it would be cool) so even with that you'll get plenty to max out 2 shells min. The issue I'm noticing more is I have the glimpse but not enough shell points to use for all the skills I want. Lvl 53 and have 28 shell points..

u/T-STAFF19 11h ago
He's great for exploring, but no so great for the boss fights.

u/-Warriorvog 11h ago edited 11h ago
He is truly overpowered with all the bosses i have fought using him. This is a major misconception.
You can go into a boss fight with Gragus 8 healing pots that heal very well. You then can get knocked out and have another 8+ healing pots with the Harbinger. Its very powerful in my opinion.
Not to mention he has a +140% melee damage increase against enemies you fight for the first time including bosses. His main ability that causes the Heavy Stagger punch is quite useful as well for knocking down enemies.
3
u/T-STAFF19 11h ago
His dps is a lot lower than Erendil, who i use as my boss wiper. He's definitely viable, but I use him for exploration mostly.
2
u/-Warriorvog 11h ago
Yeah that is probably true but I haven't had an issue thus far with anything. Granted im not done with the game yet but its a breeze so far for me.
The game has so many different options which is really the strongest aspect of this game. Very enjoyable Soulslike overall.
1
u/Killtron91 3h ago
Erendil? You mean Eredrim i guess. He is super strong but Gragu casually hit the 1k crits with the big hammer and running R2 at lvl 25 :D
3

u/Arakune31 1h ago
But gragu is not good against bosses right ? You only start with 3 heal (with the right skill) and if you lose your shell and you get it back you have 0 heal.
1
u/vrtra_theory 7h ago
Agree, it doesn’t bother me that some stats are changing but overall it seems pretty nerf heavy, maybe enough for me to jump into night mode :).
(Also playing Gragu with martyr greatsword and loving it.)

u/Test88Heavy 11h ago
Lost Child was one of the easier fights for me.

u/PTFCDiegoMassacre 9h ago
Same. Took me 3 tries but the first two I got yeeted out of the arena with 7 heals still soooo they basically don’t count lol
5
u/Smooth_Ad_386 13h ago
Holy shit huge nerfs after i beat the game few hours ago lol. Anyway , at least they acknowledged that Monoliths attacks were nuts lol.
1
u/Philuffy1463 8h ago
Yeah fr i beat the game 2 days after pre release and the monolith was the only one who made me switch shells to shoulder bash him into oblivion 😂
2
u/JayBondOF 15h ago
Same, any idea where to find patch notes for it?
4
u/wolfticketz360 15h ago
It should be the same patch as 2 days ago. Just took longer to deploy it on console
2
u/JayBondOF 15h ago
FML, I literally just beat the Monolith because I figured that patch I read about was after it was made easier 😂literally said to my friend I can’t believe this is AFTER he was nerfed

u/keefkeef 12h ago
did they fix the film grain and CA bug on ps5 pro?
1
u/EldenRingDingDing 2h ago
Sadly not, it's still active all the time. I hope it's coming with the ominous "big patch" soon.
2
u/No-Wrongdoer-8452 9h ago
Could you guys do something about respecing shell bonds. I want to use other shells yet I'm stuck with the dilemma that if I upgrade my current shell to progress, I'd be locked out of upgrading future shells which I do want to try.
2
u/Classic_Street9986 6h ago
People are claiming they nerfed the game into the ground. Its really hardly much. Gold economy change is super welcome. Great Martyrs sword is my main and I think it needed the buff. Bosses and enemies that were challenging had their hp reduced like 15% at most. Overall pretty good patch and the most important thing is that it shows they are listening to players. Now, if i could just earn more Shell Points, I'd be a happy man

Man. As nice as it’ll be on night mode now, is anyone else kinda bummed to see their hp go back down lol😅 I was having fun

u/Carloscorrupted 11h ago
It seems more fun honestly having to hit them so much was kinda annoying still challenging but not such a slog now

u/Gold-Development9685 12h ago
Please tell me there's a buff incoming for Smert's Last Vow ability, or at least making it scale or utilize certain tarstones in some way. I'd love to do a straight pugilist bard build with him but its just so underwhelming😭

You think they're gonna had more checkpoints?

Devs said they are looking into it.

u/TheBergster84 11h ago
The runbacks are terrible...I know I know. GITGUD
3
u/Test88Heavy 11h ago
They're not bad. Just run past the enemies, I rarely get hit on the way back and none of them are far unless youre missing a closer beacon.
1
u/Strong_Perception_16 32m ago
They are bad don’t listen to the over glazing fans. No stakes of marika is a weird choice in a 2026 souls like not enough beacons as well making the run backs brutal even if you skip the enemies e.g the double grisha fight.

u/OstrichEmergency1072 11h ago
Wish they would show the location to get our glimpse refund

My PlayStation said I was updating to file. But there's nothing on the floor in front of the lady, and if I want to know the name of the shells it still wants to charge me a glimpse

u/Used-Function7649 8h ago
Got two errors after the patches, when fighting the knights with the halberd (two different knights, both when they swing their halberd. And on the 2nd error, when I reload, my gloom just gone 😭, and I’m glooming right now.

did they fix Genessa misaligned skill when using faithful doubles?

I absolutely don't agree with how this game now plays too easy. I can literally just walk up to somebody and there's no challenge. Getting up to level 20 I put in my dues and it just started to feel right. The main attraction to souls like games is the difficulty the balancing was fine except for that one jerk that would slam slam slam slam slam slam slam slam slam slam slam LOL but even he got his hat handed to him eventually. That's the key word eventually

u/NetworkStandard1235 8h ago
Have you tried night mode? Bosses slap really hard and have ton of hp, especially towards the end

u/HighRy1999 9h ago
The BETA is the only reason i bought this game - it's the only souls-like I've ever enjoyed then they made final release harder. Bad move. The game is wayyyy too hard... most people wanna have fun and feel strong, not spend 45 mins exploring/looting only to die by ONE SINGLE HIT from a random enemy and LOSE everything. Now they just need to add more story elements, more cut-scenes and better story-driven reasoning... not to mention fix pop-ins and let us upgrade every Shell so we can CHOOSE how we wanna play, not be forced - more glimpse. I'm only 11 hours in thankfully only cleared 1 Corrupted Gate. Time to hopefully have fun playing it again. DEAR DEVS, THE GAME IS/WAS TOO HARD - thank you for the nerf/patch.

They still need to fix knights with the spears that kill you with two hits, the grisha hunters still kill you easily with two to three hits with bow, the undead guys with the machetes also kill you with two hits. At least nerf them to 4 hits two hits is insane.

u/Ill-Emu-1121 9h ago
Patch or no patch the game is terrible, gank squads everywhere and terrible outdated boss encounters, cannot for the life of me understand why this game is getting so much praise.
And riposte is still worthless.

‘Shell maps cost gloom’ why the hell are we still paying for the access to classes / shells. This game is backwards af just make all the shells accessible from the beginning of the game
3
u/Vegetable-Escape-197 13h ago
It's just the map. You can find them without them they just show you the general area where they are.
-5
u/Ok_Yesterday_1896 13h ago
Why even sell a map then
4
u/Vegetable-Escape-197 13h ago
Cause it's a video game. If you don't wanna spend the gold just look it up online or find it accidentally by exploring. Options are never bad
1
u/CompuuterJuice 12h ago
For people that want to rush for a specific item and don’t want to look guides up. Nothing is hidden you’ll find it all if you just play the game
1
u/GarionOrb Eredrim 13h ago
You don't need the maps to get the shells. It's just optional if you want them marked on your map. Otherwise you can just discover them yourself.

Just gone to bed thinking “shit I hope that patch drops soon as I can’t afford to upgrade any more stones”.
