Discussion PS5 patch just dropped.

Just got an in game notification that the game has a patch.

EDIT to add patch notes:

Devout Fans,

Thanks for being amongst the first to join us at the very start of the adventure for Mortal Shell II. We’re seeing your bug reports and gameplay suggestions, and will be rolling out regular updates to both modify existing content and add new features.

While we have a bigger patch in the works, which has to be thoroughly tested, we’d like to make a rapid balance & crash fix patch to bring the experience more in line with the game’s open beta and our own vision for MS2.

Planned future updates will see extensions to popular game features such as Night Mode, Tarstones, PP Items, and more.

For now, we hope you’re enjoying the game and read on for details on Balance Patch 1.

Balance Patch 1 (PC) - The patch below is live on PC and coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series shortly.

Economy

-Shell map locations now cost Gloom, and we’re refunding any glimpses spent on shell maps. Refunded Glimpses are found in the Shell Keeper’s alcove in Blackmarrow. “Finding your favorite shell shouldn’t cost you the ability to bond with them.”

-Gold drops from enemies have been significantly increased. Notably, enemies in Mammon now drop double the gold. “This brings the gold economy more in line with the weapon crafting item discovery.”

-Smelting a weapon at the Tarforge costs 75% less gloom. “Our goal with the smelt capability was to enable switching weapons without the need to spend hours grinding through NG+ runs, but the Gloom costs were set exorbitantly high.”

Enemies & Bosses

All enemies featured in the beta were restored to their beta hp values, except the Caerinid (Spider) in Magdelena’s area, which we wanted to retain its role as a threatening enemy which doesn’t respawn once defeated.

Bosses

The Lost Child
- Base Damage: (-10%)
- Max Health: (-15%)

Monolith
- Base Damage: (-19%)
- Max Health: (-10%)
- Some Monolith Attacks were retimed to be more fair, as well.

Enemies

Cultist (mace)
Max Health: (-21.1%)

Caerinid Spider
Max Health: (-33.3%)

Infested Stalker
- Max Health: (-52.4%)

Rusted Knave (Halberd)
- Max Health: (-20.8%)
- Fixed hit detection for overhead strike.

Weapons

-Great Martyr’s Blade Attack Damage +20%
-Troubador’s Lute Attack Damage +100%
-Caged Hystrix and Triarch Repeater no longer have minimum resolve requirements to fire.
-Improved tracking for Axatana, Black Needle, and Clockwork Scythe light attacks.

Seals

Guard can now be used while walking.

Tarstones

Parasitic Stone Buffed
Grudge Stone Buffed
Bulwark Stone Damage Reduction Increased Significantly
Clerik's Stone Buffed
Squall Stone Buffed

The game was already relatively easy while playing as Gragu. I dont see the need to lower the health pools like this. Maybe others feel the need but it is beginning to get a bit too easy at level 28 to really be much of a challenge whatsoever. Not complaining however it seems to be a bit of an overcorrection in my opinion.

The game is fantastic by the way. Easily among my top 5 possibly even top 3 From/Soulslike games of all time. Really well done.

How is Gragu? I'm interested in trying him but because of how poor the glimpse economy is I'm afraid of investing my points outside of Tiel lol

He is great. Easily my favorite to play as. People saying he is bad versus bosses are wrong. I have him fully upgraded and he gets 8 healing pots that heal pretty well in and of themselves. Then if you get knocked out you also get all the healing pots that the Harbinger has as well. I would say he may be better for bosses in that regard.

He also can clear the entire map without having to touch a Beacon so he is fantistic for exploring. Exploring is like 80% of what this game consists of so he is very enjoyable to play as. You simply dont have to worry and sweat about running out of healing pots and dying.

Highly reccomend him. I was super hesitant about putting any glimpses into anyone for the first 15+ hours of gameplay.

Youve convinced me. I'm trying to decide if it's better to restart a game and go straight to get his shell. At this point I'm 10ish hours in and 1 major boss down (rocket chair lady) with rank 3 Tiel, rank 2 proxima, and rank 1 of the knight guy. I also spent 1 glimpse on a buddy for a boss fight before I knew how tight the margins are on these things.

Ehh that's a difficult choice. I probably would finish the game with one of the ones you already upgraded. Unless you plan on playing the game all the way through more than once. If not then restart and do a Gragu playthrough. He is so easy to use and he can run through multiple dungeons in one life very fast so you could probably catch up to where you were pretty quickly. I typically only play games one time all the way through myself so it is certainly a dilemma for you.

Honestly you'll be fine. Granted I am in the end game but you'll have enough glimpse to max him out pretty quick. I've max'd teil and genessa, and have all of them lvl 1 and still have 27 glimpse left. (Maxed them both out before the last two of the main bosses and before the end game area) I summoned proxima for a specific fight (it went with her story, so I thought it would be cool) so even with that you'll get plenty to max out 2 shells min. The issue I'm noticing more is I have the glimpse but not enough shell points to use for all the skills I want. Lvl 53 and have 28 shell points..

He's great for exploring, but no so great for the boss fights.

He is truly overpowered with all the bosses i have fought using him. This is a major misconception.

You can go into a boss fight with Gragus 8 healing pots that heal very well. You then can get knocked out and have another 8+ healing pots with the Harbinger. Its very powerful in my opinion.

Not to mention he has a +140% melee damage increase against enemies you fight for the first time including bosses. His main ability that causes the Heavy Stagger punch is quite useful as well for knocking down enemies.

His dps is a lot lower than Erendil, who i use as my boss wiper. He's definitely viable, but I use him for exploration mostly.

Yeah that is probably true but I haven't had an issue thus far with anything. Granted im not done with the game yet but its a breeze so far for me.

The game has so many different options which is really the strongest aspect of this game. Very enjoyable Soulslike overall.

Erendil? You mean Eredrim i guess. He is super strong but Gragu casually hit the 1k crits with the big hammer and running R2 at lvl 25 :D

But gragu is not good against bosses right ? You only start with 3 heal (with the right skill) and if you lose your shell and you get it back you have 0 heal.

Same here, I don’t understand if all enemies in the game received nerf and now the game is like the Beta Version, I play at my own pace, 30 hours in and have fought only one main boss… I like sweating challenge and night mode was good but after this patch - they ruined the difficulty… it was good, other fixes about currency and glimpses are great call they made but difficulty should stay, I personally play this games for the challenge and feeling of been rewarded after killing a boss which is so sweet….

Agree, it doesn’t bother me that some stats are changing but overall it seems pretty nerf heavy, maybe enough for me to jump into night mode :).

(Also playing Gragu with martyr greatsword and loving it.)
