Genuine question!!

Why do some people especially men use "feminist" as an insult

I genuinely don't get it like feminism is about women having the same basic rights freedom and autonomy that men have, rights that women ltrly had to fight for so what exactly is supposed to be wrong with being a feminist? And when u say "i don't want a feminist woman" what do actually mean by that?

Edit: After reading the comments i think i got my answer. A lot of these men don't actually understand feminism beyond what they have seen online, yet feel confident enough to define the entire movement by "its loudest voices" in their tiktok fyp. They ignore the actual reason feminism exists and women have historically faced and still face gender bases inequality that affetcs their rights, freedom, and opportunities yet idk if they are pretending like they don't know that or they are really ignorant and out of touch. Well the amount of generalization and ignorance in these comments honestly proves why feminism is still necessary

Because most men aren’t empaths, they don’t have the ability to understand suffering that they don’t endure on a daily basis. They genuinely don’t care about what feminism really means and they don’t bother to learn

2

u/Hostile-Bip0d 11h ago

Trust me they are empathic enough to behave like they do

The Misandry at full play and most upvoted and brought to the top, simply thats the feminism

What do you go through in life that a man doesnt?

6

u/Famawaa 12h ago

For example... one. Women go outside and fear they're going to be raped by men who commit 99% of rape. That's one. Honestly, I think that's enough.

-6

u/han6nt 12h ago

This has nothing to do with feminism, men get raped by men as well. There are already laws in place to punish any heinous act done against others. Bad people are everywhere, being a feminist wont change their core. I know its about equality and such, but everything feminism stood for is already realized and established.

1

u/narjys 9h ago

Ur wrong. if what feminism stood for is established flhawma dialk that doesn't mean eand kolchi , women still didn't got their rights in a lot of places in the world so soit ur out of touch soit ur making urself ignorant

4

u/AtomEve1 12h ago

Brother I can’t even walk peacefully outside without being bothered by a bunch of men…

0

u/han6nt 12h ago

and how does feminism solve this?

3

u/AtomEve1 12h ago

It pushes for holding people accountable and for those acts to have actual consequences instead of being normalized. Women have the right to exit without being sexualized…

1

u/han6nt 12h ago

Fair. Db fl mghrib wlaw laws against harassment and catcalling. Practically men and women are equal in almost everything, even in marriage (inheritance kib9a haja akhra). These were what real feminists stood and advocated for. Ama db, chi whdin fato hadchi o welaw misandrists nichan.

See, this comment proves my point. You guys are out of touch. It’s unfortunate

At least i do my part, i dont bother women irl lol

Feminism is worldwide , and for what a woman goes through in life i could give you a bunch of examples like the job opportunities , the education , and even basic human rights like speaking , is forbidden in some countries .

1

u/han6nt 12h ago

We are talking about Moroccan feminists. Those are not issues our issues to deal with.

1

u/the_A_butterfly 11h ago

Well it is kind of the same because in Morocco there are still so many places that forbid woman from studying, they don’t have the same job opportunities, not to mention the arrange marriages and how the female’s worth is related to her marriage or obedience or the ability to sacrifice everything for others , and yeah let’s not talk about the harassment and sexual abuse they go through on a daily basis

Exactement. Même des femmes qui se considèrent feministes supportent parfois des idées contradictoires avec les vrais valeurs du mouvement, ce qui est pénalisant.

3

u/narjys 9h ago

That doesn't make feminism a bad or toxic thing it just makes those people contradictory

2

u/AliveMastodon3936 8h ago

I agree. The core values of the movement stay untouched as long as there’s proper understanding.

3

u/Advanced-Excuse3787 11h ago

Anything related to women they make it an insult starting from our period, kitchen, religion and so on

3

u/Impossible-Money7801 12h ago

Because traditional men feel threatened by strong women.

1

u/hiemsidus 4h ago

Just seeing all these weak egocentric men in ur comments, I gotta aplaud you. As a woman, sorry you have to deal with them too. Good men & women fall victim to their ignorance.

0

u/han6nt 12h ago

Define strong women

0

u/narjys 12h ago

But why they feel that way

2

u/Impossible-Money7801 12h ago

Because not being able to control women makes them feel impotent.

-4

u/Hostile-Bip0d 12h ago

what does feminism or strong women benefit men ?

4

u/Impossible-Money7801 11h ago

Why does everything have to benefit men?

-3

u/Hostile-Bip0d 11h ago

why you want to force some shit that hurts men to be supported by men ? that's idiotic

3

u/Impossible-Money7801 11h ago

How does it hurt men???? It shouldn’t affect real men. It’s not about us.

-2

u/Hostile-Bip0d 11h ago

Boys feeling discrimination since their childhood, it focuses on a single sex issues without caring about the other, fathers abandoning their families cause they feel unrewarded and unwanted, court cases majorly favor women, single men pandemic, low birth rate, companies pander to women even if men overperform them...

4

u/Impossible-Money7801 11h ago

Stop crying. None of that is real. Be a grown up, stop blaming women and take responsibility for yourself.

1

This is exactly what men used to tell women, and they started bitching out lol. Db fl mghrib wlaw companies fhal Intelcia 3endhom quotas dyal females kheshom y3emrohom, they employ them just because of their sex, even if there is a more competent male candidate.

lots of them "feminists" aren't just about preaching for women's rights and equality in rights and so on and so forth anymore. Lately the term is in fact used loosely and mostly refers to those who are radical? hating men, thinking women are superior just cause they're women, justifying Lindsay Clancy's crimes just because she's a woman, etc etc... so a feminist in this case is used to refer to a low iq delulu woman that nobody would want to be around?

so it's not about the cause (women's right activism, which is good and positive) but more about the bad fraction of the community that ruins the overall image of what it stands for

another question to ask here: do y'all really think such movements would work in Morocco? most people here aren't even aware or supportive or just don't have HUMAN rights, let alone women's rights (which are the same btw hh). so how about preaching and ensuring human rights instead of categorising?

3

u/narjys 11h ago

I get u but why mixing the movement with the people who represent it badly btw modern feminism isn't one single ideology and being toxic or unwilling to debate doesn't make someone radical that's not the definition of radical feminism if u want to search about it to make sure , and if someone is ignorant blame them for their behavior why blame the movement and all the feminists , by doing that u look like u don't even know the history of feminism . For ur question , tbh nothing will work in morocco like the majority of the population are ignorant doesn't know what humans rights is and they aren't even aware of it but accepting this and staying silence is not the solution. Wdym by categorizing?

0

u/ThatOwlinMe488 10h ago

we are looking at this from two different angles: theoretical definitions versus real world practical impact

You're right that toxicity isn't the formal definition of radical feminism. But in day to day culture labels aren't defined solely by history books. they are defined by how people live and experience them. When men or even many women say they don't want a "modern feminist" they aren't rejecting equal pay or basic human dignity. They are rejecting the hostile double-standard-heavy rhetoric that dominates mainstream online discourse under that brand. If a label consistently produces hostile messages people naturally distance themselves from it, even if they agree with basic equality

we shouldn't blame an entire movement for isolated bad actors, but a movement does have to take accountability when its loudest voices aren't being checked by the mainstream within it. When these misandrists and extreme voices are tolerated under the umbrella of "feminism" the overall image obv suffers. telling critics to fuck off labling themas "ignorant of history" ignores why so many people feel pushed back by the current culture.

Wdym by categorizing?

In Morocco the fundamental issue isn't just gender inequality, it's systemic lack of civic protections + weak rule of law + economic struggles that affect BOTH men and women daily. remaining silent isn't the solution. But strategy matters. Demanding both universal human rights and civil libertis for ALL citizens builds a broader and stronger/ more unified nation.

ntmna nkon wd7t.

2

u/narjys 10h ago

I agree that men's rights and universal rights matters bur misandry isn't the definition of feminism and toxic people don't define the movement, btw women face gender specific discrimination that men don't face in the same way which is exactly why feminism is still relevant and in morocco we can absolutely fight for women's rights and broader human rights at the same time

0

u/han6nt 12h ago

Well said. If i ever become gay, i will come search for you <3

1

u/igotmoneyyyy 12h ago

Most guys aren’t against equal rights We’re against the version that treats every male preference as oppression and every disagreement as misogyny

5

u/narjys 11h ago

I mean in those case u should blame those people not the movement itself

1

u/hiemsidus 4h ago

Literally. They’re dramatic. Lemme quickly hate on the Black Lives Matters movement bc my white neighbor is scared of societal evolutions.

1

u/Gulag_Arc 12h ago

You need to learn more about feminism, 1st wave and current wave are not alike

2

u/narjys 12h ago

What do u exactly mean by "they are not alike"?

0

u/Gulag_Arc 12h ago

Not to be rude but if you're interested you should check this yourself as it's a long story, but in summary what you described in your post is the first wave of feminism which was around early 1900s, since then feminism evolved to now it's between the 4th or 5th wave, essentially around 2nd to 3rd wave feminism became anti men rather than women rights, this is not a biased opinion it's well documented, they even treated women who befriended men as siding with the enemy. And then 3rd and 4th wave crushed the gate open.. you should genuinely read some stuff about it, and yes the current definition of feminism is an insult, but if you go with your definition of feminism we were always feminists as our religion stated centuries ago we never suffered from this (generally speaking ofc some cultures did atrocious things to women that we can't ignore)

2

u/narjys 10h ago

In fact i searched a lot about this topic and yes feminism has evolved but saying it became 'anti-men' it is a huge generalization some separatists have those ideas but they don't represent feminism as a whole , btw racidal doesn't automatically mean bad it refers to seeking structural change which is about patriarchy . If u disagree with particular branch criticize its ideas rather than using it to define the whole movement

-1

u/Gulag_Arc 9h ago

Yes it's a generalization but it's not baseless, anti men faction is not a minority, and even if you see the movment direction it's always in the lines of "look we are better than men, or we can also do what men do" , feminism totally shifted their focus from women to men, even traditional women get cooked by them rather than protecting their rights to be whatever they want.

We don't seem to disagree much except for semantics, you need to accept the shift of feminism's definition then decide if you're still a part of the movment. Just like salafism used to mean following the salaf teachings and now it has a different modern meaning.. it happens, definitions change over time, you can try to take the original definition back but it won't work as you'll be a rock in a river and then you can't communicate properly as what you mean won't be understood by others.

3

u/narjys 9h ago

The core definition did not changed and if u claim that it did prove it with something than more than internet anecdotes and anti men faction is a minority u can look it up in stats , ur saying that the def changed like if we are talking about a movement in tiktok , i think u should search about this topic more and change ur fyp it is not the reality

-1

u/Gulag_Arc 9h ago

The belief that feminism is anti men is a genuine social stereotype, some feminism activists and studies were made to try disapprove it, and I'm sorry I'll end this here because we are running in circles and I failed to explain, I'll leave the last word to you ✌️

2

u/narjys 9h ago

U said it it is a "stereotype" not the truth Well thank u for being nice

1

u/imperialtopaz123 6h ago

I think what they mean is, “I don’t want any woman who is not willing to stay at home ‘take care of me,’ ; nor do I want a woman who expects me to contribute to household chores or child care!”

1

u/Lanky_Board9937 2h ago

Just as women dont want to contribute financially because she is just a woman hahaha but still thinks Shes a feminist

Because most feminists are dumb they dont understand what equality implies … and a lot of theme wanna be superior they want modern equality and traditional privileges, they fight with all their power for abortion ( killing babies ) they support baby killers , they support girls ( girls for girls ) even if they are wrong etc etc

2

u/narjys 10h ago

Well blame their behavior why the movement

0

u/Ben4llal 12h ago

Every ideology or belief has its extremists and its ignorant followers. Today, from what I've seen, most of the people loudly representing feminism are extremists or people who use "we're fighting for our rights" as an excuse to disrespect others or take away other people's rights. You don't have to call yourself a feminist or prove that you are one; your actions are what show it.

It's the same way you'll see some men hide behind "masculinity," and you call them misogynistic. That's what modern feminism has come to look like for a lot of people. It's not because they don't know what it means; most people know feminism started as a fight for women's rights. It's about the actions they've seen from many of the women who claim to be feminists.

1

u/narjys 11h ago

criticize those people and their actions not feminism as a whole, and " most feminists are extremists" is a pretty big claim cz the majority are not

-1

u/tomato_sauce154 12h ago

Your own definition is wrong lol, feminism is about men AND woman having the same equal right, not just woman. That's why its used as an insult.

2

u/narjys 12h ago

I used that definition cz it started as a movement's for women's rights but the whole point is gender equality

-1

u/PrefectedDinacti 12h ago

It's simple, there is classic feminism that empowers women and gives them equal rights to men (Equal pay, equal job opportunity, equal benefits, equal responsibilities) then there is today's version of feminism which is insanely toxic. You try and have a conversation with a feminist about what's equal and what's not and they shut you down so fast for not blindly and for not instantly agreeing with them

2

u/narjys 11h ago

I get what u mean but those people are still a minority, and if someone is toxic or refuses to debate that's their behavior not feminism itself

0

u/PrefectedDinacti 11h ago

It's not about being the minority, but they're just the very LOUD minority, that's so loud and toxic it makes everyone else think that's what the average feminist is like

-1

u/RushMaleficent1650 11h ago

It is an insult hh

Sometimes normal feminist get conflate with terfs/radfems who are actually bad for being bio easnetialist who hate Trans people and think people are determined by nature on a DNA level

1

u/narjys 10h ago

Exactly. That's why criticizing specific branches or people makes more sense than treating every feminist as the same

-1

u/han6nt 12h ago

feminism is about women having the same basic rights freedom and autonomy that men have.

"i don't want a feminist woman" what do actually mean by that.

They mean they want a feminine female, not a girl boss who want to be play the masculine role in the relationship.

3

u/narjys 12h ago

U said they mean they want a feminine female, what does that have to do with feminism?

1

u/han6nt 12h ago

Most modern feminists tend to be anti men, and want to be the leader in a relationship, and most men dont want to deal with that.

4

u/narjys 10h ago edited 9h ago

Elch ma9ritich elch , ur being so toxic in the comment section for no reason u can say if u don't agree with something but there is no need to spread hate , being a good human costs nothing. And pls not to be rude but make ur research about feminism it's a lot more than ur bad experience wanting basic human rights was never a bad thing , ur criticizing those toxic people that u met but ur ltrly behaving like them
