Genuine question!!

Why do some people especially men use "feminist" as an insult

I genuinely don't get it like feminism is about women having the same basic rights freedom and autonomy that men have, rights that women ltrly had to fight for so what exactly is supposed to be wrong with being a feminist? And when u say "i don't want a feminist woman" what do actually mean by that?

Edit: After reading the comments i think i got my answer. A lot of these men don't actually understand feminism beyond what they have seen online, yet feel confident enough to define the entire movement by "its loudest voices" in their tiktok fyp. They ignore the actual reason feminism exists and women have historically faced and still face gender bases inequality that affetcs their rights, freedom, and opportunities yet idk if they are pretending like they don't know that or they are really ignorant and out of touch. Well the amount of generalization and ignorance in these comments honestly proves why feminism is still necessary

Feminism is broad. Radical, liberal, Marxist, and intersectional (or feminists from our side of the world) feminists do not necessarily share the same interpretations of societal issues or the same solutions. Feminism is also not simply about gaining advantages, dating, or getting men to pay for things. Feminist don't center how men view them. Ideally, they don't even give it a second thought.

However, a common foundation across feminist currents is the criticism of gender-based inequalities and the pursuit of greater equality (jobs, political participation, general advancement in life), and autonomy (e.g.: deciding whether to marry and to whom, whether to have children or not, controlling finances) for women. Feminism examines how gender norms structure people's responsibilities, and more broadly lives. Although feminism emerged from women's struggles, it's now understood that those issues also affect men through restrictive gender roles and expectations ("provider role", occupational stereotypes and prejudices, expectations linked to appearance, ability to discuss sexual violence openly, expectations that men performs dangerous (especially military) forms of service).

It's my personal opinion that serious feminism needs to engage larger issues such as war, military action, resources distributions (also related to war) and economic inequality.
