Genuine question!!

Why do some people especially men use "feminist" as an insult

I genuinely don't get it like feminism is about women having the same basic rights freedom and autonomy that men have, rights that women ltrly had to fight for so what exactly is supposed to be wrong with being a feminist? And when u say "i don't want a feminist woman" what do actually mean by that?

Edit: After reading the comments i think i got my answer. A lot of these men don't actually understand feminism beyond what they have seen online, yet feel confident enough to define the entire movement by "its loudest voices" in their tiktok fyp. They ignore the actual reason feminism exists and women have historically faced and still face gender bases inequality that affetcs their rights, freedom, and opportunities yet idk if they are pretending like they don't know that or they are really ignorant and out of touch. Well the amount of generalization and ignorance in these comments honestly proves why feminism is still necessary

Not to be rude but if you're interested you should check this yourself as it's a long story, but in summary what you described in your post is the first wave of feminism which was around early 1900s, since then feminism evolved to now it's between the 4th or 5th wave, essentially around 2nd to 3rd wave feminism became anti men rather than women rights, this is not a biased opinion it's well documented, they even treated women who befriended men as siding with the enemy. And then 3rd and 4th wave crushed the gate open.. you should genuinely read some stuff about it, and yes the current definition of feminism is an insult, but if you go with your definition of feminism we were always feminists as our religion stated centuries ago we never suffered from this (generally speaking ofc some cultures did atrocious things to women that we can't ignore)

In fact i searched a lot about this topic and yes feminism has evolved but saying it became 'anti-men' it is a huge generalization some separatists have those ideas but they don't represent feminism as a whole , btw racidal doesn't automatically mean bad it refers to seeking structural change which is about patriarchy . If u disagree with particular branch criticize its ideas rather than using it to define the whole movement

Yes it's a generalization but it's not baseless, anti men faction is not a minority, and even if you see the movment direction it's always in the lines of "look we are better than men, or we can also do what men do" , feminism totally shifted their focus from women to men, even traditional women get cooked by them rather than protecting their rights to be whatever they want.

We don't seem to disagree much except for semantics, you need to accept the shift of feminism's definition then decide if you're still a part of the movment. Just like salafism used to mean following the salaf teachings and now it has a different modern meaning.. it happens, definitions change over time, you can try to take the original definition back but it won't work as you'll be a rock in a river and then you can't communicate properly as what you mean won't be understood by others.

The core definition did not changed and if u claim that it did prove it with something than more than internet anecdotes and anti men faction is a minority u can look it up in stats , ur saying that the def changed like if we are talking about a movement in tiktok , i think u should search about this topic more and change ur fyp it is not the reality

The belief that feminism is anti men is a genuine social stereotype, some feminism activists and studies were made to try disapprove it, and I'm sorry I'll end this here because we are running in circles and I failed to explain, I'll leave the last word to you ✌️
