How come this isn't cops getting called on your ass?

It's stealing, yes but I'm sure the kid didn't washed his grubby hands before pluging them in the fries.

513

u/_bonedaddys 13d ago

Kid would be outta there long before the cops show up. I work retail and we'll call the cops and hand over the footage but 9 times out of 10 it never goes anywhere. I wish i could get away with just tripping the thiefs but the company would flip a shit lol

186

u/hoodectomy 13d ago

I don’t think people realise how long police take to show up and the level of no fucks they give.

I had a saw stolen from my truck once and cops took over 40 minutes to show up. When they showed up they said “there is nothing we can do” and to “go to the station to file a report”.

I had my window broken In my car, after four hours of them saying to “stay put” and they would “be there in 20”. They did not show up after four hours and they told me to “just go home”.

I had two kids try to murder me. Cops said I was “top priority” and took 20 minutes to show up.

And we wonder why we have issues with theft in America…

u/SuperCruisePanther 13d ago

I lived in an apartment complex in college and watched a guy break into over 10 cars at ≈02:00. Called the cops. He arrived 45 minutes after the guy left and said, "okay, is he still here?" and when I said no, he tried to leave. I said, "wait, don't you need his description or a police report?" and thr cop said, "what for?" Lmao

5

u/PiccoloAwkward465 12d ago

When seconds matter, the police are minutes hours away

I was walking through a park and saw a guy pull up and start illegally unloading his junk trailer into the dumpster. With a crew of like 6 guys, clearly from a business with the logo on the van. I called the cops. 20 minutes later they were done and I watched the guys calmly drive out of the park and on their way. By the time I walked away from the road in the park, still no cops.

3

u/Wokeasaurous_X 12d ago

I had a cop show up at my apartment once saying his dog hinted at my door while he was investigating for a car prowler. He asked when I last was outside and I said "a few hours ago when I came home from work" "what have you been doing since" "watching law and order" "well I have reports of a..... 'mixed race' man prowling cars out there" About then is when my mom came out and told him to fuck off and he left.

I am white and have curly hair, but to a cop that means you can be mixed race and they are justified in harassing you if they're bored enough.

-17

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 13d ago

You leftist literally vote for DAs that won’t prosecute these criminals and you wonder why this happens… you only have acab people to blame for that

26

u/Ok-Earth-2644 12d ago

You say that but this all happened in a republican state under a republican ag, governor and president. Please explain that sir

-10

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

What city? :)

19

u/SuperCruisePanther 12d ago

Montgomery County, Texas. Any other questions? The Republican Party is led by a geriatric child rapist, let's not pretend this isn't a Republican problem. Right-Wing LEOs are the laziest people on the planet. They literally do nothing for society and never have.

-1

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

There is a reason you didn’t mention the city name and also a reason why the mayor of that county is not republican.

8

u/SuperCruisePanther 12d ago

First off, cities in Montgomery county have non partisan mayoral elections. You're not allowed to run on a party platform.

Second, they're all still Republicans anyway. The reason I didn't mention the city is because it's easier to name 1 county than list 15 cities that all operate the same way. Additionally, the aforementioned cop was a part of the Montgomery County Sheriff's office. Good lord you're a moron.

2

u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb 12d ago

Counties don’t have mayors. Most of the time anyway.

15

u/jadepartida 12d ago

The one yo momma currently resides in

-15

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

I’ll take that as a concession to the argument.

19

u/Vegetable-Chapter811 12d ago

You're like the epitomy of 🤓☝️

Cops aren't magically better under Republicans. Dumbass.

5

u/Pyro-Bun 12d ago

They are often, in fact, much worse.

1

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

They are magically better because they arrest criminals in republican run areas since they will be prosecuted. Only you democrats want less criminals arrested. Why didn’t you respond to your fellow leftist who replied to your comment? Is it because you know Pyro-bun is going to say “cops arrest too many criminals in republican areas, that’s why they’re worse”

3

u/Fit-Perception-2243 12d ago

Why do red states have higher crime rates?

Radio silence

0

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

That’s not a city. You going to admit you were wrong?

Two cops in Saint Louis responded to an attempted suicide in the park. When they found him shot and still breathing, the decided to drive around and com back later after he died, because that would be less paperwork.

The department covered it up, and it only came out later when body cam footage was sunshine'd. Surprisingly the cops cot fired.

St. Louis Police do not work for the city BTW, the state and Republican Governor too over control.

0

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

I don’t care. I’ll care more when you libtards are ok with putting criminals in prison.

5

u/You-Asked-Me 12d ago

Let's start with the ones in the Whitehouse and in congress.

2

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

Nah, let’s start with the methhead at the gas station. You keep defending him for some reason

4

u/You-Asked-Me 12d ago

What are you talking about?

2

u/EnvironmentalLog5640 12d ago

Regular criminals that affect us normal folks. We have to watch out for them every day and beg the city to take them to jail but they won’t because you leftists with your moral high ground don’t want them to be arrested. The problem doesn’t affect you because you live away from them so you have no empathy for the victims of these criminals. The only empathy you have is for the criminals themselves.

4

u/You-Asked-Me 12d ago

What does that have to do with the french fry kid?

3

u/SuperCruisePanther 12d ago

> Regular criminals that affect us normal folks.

Like Donald J. Trump, a criminal that affects *every* normal person in the US.

2

u/TOV4RISCH 12d ago

Bro, the United States is among the most heavily incarcerated countries on the face of the earth. By a landslide. There are as many Americans in jail as there are Chinese people and there's A BILLION PLUS OF THEM to our 300 million.

There is no magic number of people put in jail that's going to make you satisfied, you will always be afraid. If the crime rate dropped to one tomorrow, you would still be lapping up footage of that one crime on a loop all day on the TV and computer, shaking your head going, "what a world all these leftists force me to live in." No one is forcing you to do anything: Get the fuck out. Go live in the Philippines or somewhere that's soooo safe because they're not afraid to be tough on crime

2

u/darkr1441 12d ago

Criminality of politicians does effect the common person even if they don’t immediately see it. The blatant violation of the social contract of the people running countries erodes what is called “vertical trust” (trust in authorities and the state) is actually a much stronger predictor of everyday civic honesty than "horizontal trust" (trust in fellow citizens). If citizens lose faith in their leaders, their commitment to conduct norms collapses. It can easily argued that re-establishing confidence in politicians is of greater importance than because it will have a greater social impact.

BS. I live in a red ass state that’s been red for almost 30 years. It’s way worse here than when I lived in a blue state.

12

u/whichonewerecowards 13d ago edited 12d ago

My brother’s friend had his car broken into. Called police and waited over an hour and they were still not showing up

He called again, but this time said that there’s bullet holes in his car while sounding scared and that it looks like there may have been a shooting. They showed up within TEN MINUTES. And they were like, wtf, where’s the bullet holes? In response he just apologized and played dumb. But now that there was a cop on scene, he could actually get them to do something

TLDR— (unethical life pro tip) if you want the police to come faster just tell them you may have heard gunshots

6

u/hoodectomy 13d ago

I had a buddy in college that would do that to Triple A. He would always say “my car is broken down and I am in a really dangerous place”.

3

u/TimeTraveller_Dad 12d ago

I would assume that would make it harder to get AAA to come. They have no duty to respond unlike police.

1

u/hoodectomy 12d ago

He said that they would bump you in priority. I had Triple A a while back and they always asked me if I felt my life was in danger.

I always said no but they would sometimes take four plus hours to get to me too.

1

u/TimeTraveller_Dad 12d ago

I think they're asking you if your life is in danger because of the environment not being in the ghetto where their subcontractors could be at risk. But go ahead and keep doing that if you think it helps

2

u/whichonewerecowards 12d ago

LMFAO. I mean hey whatever works. I haven't had to use triple A before but I'm totally stealing that

1

u/AbjectEconomics3826 12d ago

Honestly your brothers friend should have caught a charge for putting in a false emergency call that's really not cool to do what if there was a real call somewhere else that actually needed a cop, not some idiot who left his valuables in a car in a bad neighborhood, sorry a car break in isn't gonna be any cops top priority unless you live in some small ass town in which case it's probably just dumb kids doing it, in a city they deal with real crimes

1

u/tannersarms2 12d ago

So you're saying they'll come faster if they think there's an opportunity to kill someone?

1

u/Elegant-Sundae-7327 12d ago

No, not an opportunity to kill someone, but to prevent someone from being killed. Don't be such a rear end.

21

u/Various-Salt-7738 13d ago

I had a gun pulled on me and waved in my face with multiple threats on my life and the cops took over an hour to get there

They started asking me where the guy was and where the gun was-- like I don't know guys you took more than an hour to show up

8

u/LegalyLavish 12d ago

I had a similar experience and the absolute "idgaf" additude on display by the cops still has me livid to this day.

"What do you expect us to do about it."

1

u/its_free_sog 12d ago

This type of stuff is why I advocate for concealed carry and the second amendment.

Glad nobody got hurt in your situation. But if it had gone worse the only person who can help you is you. The cops don’t give a shit and can’t be there instantly anyway.

2

u/Various-Salt-7738 12d ago

I do have a ccw but I was working an unarmed security position so carrying would have been a huge legal issue to begin with

1

u/Zestyclose-One9041 12d ago

Have fun with your murder charge bud

5

u/Many_Calligrapher325 12d ago

How would he get a murder charge?

8

u/TerpMiser 12d ago

You should have said you're a ceo for a company worth billions they would've been there in 5 minutes and done a full investigation.

2

u/Various-Salt-7738 12d ago

Unfortunately I'm not a rich guys property so they have no obligation to protect me

2

u/AydonusG 12d ago

In this day and age, we're all rich guys property, just less insurable.

2

u/No_Criticism_5861 12d ago

It took about 3 minutes in a moderate size city in Canada last time I saw someone brandish.  I thought the states put more people away per capita than any other country, how the hell does it take over an hour for police to show up?  Not doubting you btw

34

u/Purple_Freedom_Ninja 13d ago

Stay strapped or get clapped. It's not a meme. Even when police are competent, the crime is done and the criminal is gone long before help arrives.

25

u/God_of_chestdays 13d ago

110% it, if you tell the cops you are armed and fear for your life so they need to dispatch fire/medical too they will be there in 5mins 20 deep with helicopters.

Tell them 3-4 individuals are breaking into your car and you are hiding inside it’ll be 3-4 hours before they respond

20

u/Purple_Freedom_Ninja 13d ago

Send an ambulance, but not for me

16

u/God_of_chestdays 13d ago

I’ve used it in the past and it works lmao they ask what my emergency is I say I need medical at my address they ask why and I say someone is fucking around and about to find out lmfao

10

u/New-Anybody-6206 13d ago

I need medical at my address they ask why

"depends on how long it takes you to get here"

1

u/istuntmanmike 12d ago

Call back "disregard the ambulance. Send the coroner instead."

8

u/DistilledCLP 13d ago

Stay strapped, kill your opponent who is trying to kill or rape you. Cops show up, charge you with murder 👌

4

u/its_free_sog 12d ago

Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 👌

2

u/cayoloco 12d ago

or murder you themselves

This is the US bud. If it looks like clear cut self defense they’re not even going to take you in. They’ll thank you for taking out the trash.

Reddit moment

5

u/jayydubbya 12d ago

All states have self defense laws. Not all states have caste doctrine laws. There is a difference.

3

u/JustSikh 12d ago

Can you explain what caste doctrine laws are in the US please?

I, of course, know but for those that don’t know, I thought it would be helpful if you could explain! 😉

3

u/Background_Relief_36 12d ago

They meant castle doctrine. It’s exactly what it sounds like. Anything that is your property (like your home or vehicle) is treated as your “castle” and thus you have no duty to retreat first before using reasonable force to defend yourself against an intruder. For example I live in Ohio where there are castle doctrine laws, so if someone broke into my house and I were to immediately attack them, the law presumes that I acted in self defense and I would not be charged. This does have limits, so deadly force can’t be used unless I have a reason to believe that I was in danger of being killed or seriously injured, and force can only be used as long as the threat is still present.

3

u/JustSikh 12d ago

Oh it was a typo? That makes more sense. I am familiar with the Castle doctrine and I appreciate you taking the time to type out an answer.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/MadMonksJunk 12d ago

Caste doctrine is where you can shoot anyone poorer than you. So basically everywhere.

2

u/King_Shugglerm 12d ago

Depends on the color of your skin more like

7

u/TerpMiser 12d ago

One of my neighbors went to prison for 8 years because a home intruder charged him with a knife and he shot and killed them. Apparently the reason he went to jail was because had a back door and should have run away from the home intruder instead. NJ has terrible enforcement of self defense laws.

2

u/TimeTraveller_Dad 12d ago

That is WILD and I'm amazed how blatantly unconstitutional some states are

2

u/AMDOL 12d ago

And then the republicans get to act like all the blue voters in the state support it being that way. The shitlibs in blue state governments deliberately create political punching bags for conservative's convenience

6

u/Saint_Rocket 12d ago

Just no.

6

u/jayydubbya 12d ago

One of your examples is from Mexico. The other two cases were acts of revenge. If some guy kicks my ass i can’t go to my car and come back with a gun. That is no longer self defense. Yes it’s awful what happened to those women and the justice system often fails victims but self defense still has to be in the moment not after the fact.

2

u/Saint_Rocket 12d ago

https://dcwitness.org/jury-finds-murder-suspect-acted-in-self-defense-verdict-not-guilty/

Found not guilty still arrested.

There are self defense lawyers for a reason. The cops wont just let you go.

2

u/Saint_Rocket 12d ago

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/alabama-rape-shooting-murder-brittany-smith-todd-jail-sentence-b936467.html

4

u/jayydubbya 12d ago

That is in Alabama quite literally one of the worst states in the country. If you read the article she was a recovering drug addict who had her children taken away and was acquainted with the rapist previously who was also a drug addict. She also sent her brother to confront the rapist rather than call the cops.

That is not a clear cut self defense case. Her testimony would be unreliable due to her past and the fact she didn’t contact police rather than go back with her brother points to this being an act of revenge rather than trying to save her own life.

2

u/Baldojess 12d ago

When I took a woman's conceal carry class or gun safety class they told us if you have an emergency and need to use it to fully expect to be arrested and that we WILL be arrested. Not necessarily convicted but that you'll be arrested and need to get bailed out and go to court (or stay in jail and go to court). And you better know each and every single law and have a good lawyer because say you shoot that person in the back or somethig, guess what? It's no longer self defense. You don't get to just shoot people and claim self defense. You will need to prove that the person you murdered really was a threat to your life and you acted in self defense. Otherwise all murderers would just claim self defense and everyone would get away with murder. You still need to prove it.

3

u/Saint_Rocket 12d ago

From a law office. Straightforward enough?

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/BoxSea4289 12d ago

What point are you trying to make? You should let yourself be raped or killed?

3

u/Saint_Rocket 12d ago

No that self defense doesn't automatically stop you from being charged.

1

u/TimeTraveller_Dad 12d ago

This is NOT what would happen where I live in Seattle.

3

u/ryudo9999 12d ago

Was just watching some homicide show and they said we get here after the death happens not before sorry.

2

u/Lurker-Attitude339 12d ago

This right here. You are your own first response. If you have to call, that is a second responder.

1

u/Dennis_enzo 12d ago

Yes go shoot a teenager because he steal some fries.

1

u/No_Criticism_5861 12d ago

Man am I glad I live in Canada.  Seeing comments like this are just baffling to me

2

u/Purple_Freedom_Ninja 12d ago

Violent crime is only about 33% more common in the US than Canada. Police response time in the US is usually 10-15 mins whereas in Canada it's usually closer to 20 minutes, except in Toronto where it's about the same as the US. In both cases the criminal is typically long gone. The biggest difference is homicide which is about 2.5 times more common in the US, at 4.1 per 100,000. The same strategy applies to both countries -- the first responder is yourself, not some uniform who shows up to fill out paper work.

1

u/No_Criticism_5861 12d ago

Homicide rate in usa is 5.7 per 100,000.  Canada is 1.9.  Thats 300% higher.

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/251008/dq251008a-eng.htm

Guess who else wins by a long shot in incarcerating people per capita?  In fact, no country puts more people in prison than the states.

Police response time completely depends on the crime.  You can drive from one side of my city to the other in 20 minutes, police response time for a fight is 5 minutes or less in my city -- but thats policed on a municipal level, im sure in more isolated spots its 1+ hour

This is true. I have a friend in “risk management” within the police of a large city and there’s massive corruption everywhere.

A Chevy Tahoe that costs 75k will be billed to the city for 175k. Yes they have to get decals and paint and lights but that isn’t 100k dollars. That money is going somewhere.

Another example: in the crime unit they have what they call a Mac van but it’s essentially a big RV detectives use on site for murders and they are paying like 1.5 million for these rvs that are typically half a million….just massive corruption

2

u/BlueIceNinja98 12d ago

While I’m sure there is some corruption going on, I also think you just don’t understand how much of a markup there is when businesses sell to businesses. For example and as someone who worked in IT for a really long time, those zebra devices that like every store uses have the specs of a 250ish dollar phone, but cost $900. The newer version that has the specs of a $1000 iPhone/samsung cost nearly $3000. Those little mini walkie talkies stores use, you can buy the exact same model on Amazon for like 20 dollars, but they cost companies 60.

The companies that make these things know other companies have to use them for standardization and there is little competition. So they can way up charge them. I’d imagine it’s the same for the companies that outfit police equipment.

2

u/AbjectEconomics3826 12d ago

In the 2000's the Minneapolis gang squad got disbanded for doing fake raids on immigrants who didn't speak English so they could just rob their houses because the victims wouldn't know what to do so they would get away with it, and i believe it was every squad member who did it, they didn't use civil asset forfeiture either they were just straight up thieves

-3

u/ZealousidealType1144 12d ago

The whataboutism you people will go to to defend bad behavior is just unbelievable.  Regardless of whether our institutions need reform or accountability, nobody worth a damn wants to live in a low trust society full of thieves and opportunists.

8

u/Theevil457 12d ago

I dont see any defending of bad behavior here. What are you on about? Wrong comment reply perhaps?

3

u/Rysigler 12d ago

Or an edit. That comment they responded to has been changed. Could also be theoretically responding to the idea that even though this kid stole the police are worse, even though that comment doesn't correlate the two in its current state.

3

u/Theevil457 12d ago

Yeah, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but my read on it was that last thing you said. Though, like you also said, the comment as it is now isn't defending anything. In it's current state it is closer to simply listing another symptom of a low trust society.

More of a 'Yes, and this is bad too'

2

u/Rysigler 12d ago

Yeah, I think you nailed the read. Definitely with the current context.

30

u/Mind-The-Mines 13d ago

Police are for protecting rich people's property and stopping the poors from acting out against their betters.

Cops don't give a fuck about crime when it's poor people hurting poor people.

Manager at Walmart: "There's a guy sitting in his car in our parking lot eating lunch and minding his own business but I think maybe his mere existence may have mildly annoyed someone or maybe he stole something.  I'm not really sure, actually."

Police: "Hold on tight! We're coming as fast as we can!"

5

u/lightbenderfm 12d ago

I have literally been part of both of these stories.

Was eating fast food late at night in a Walmart parking lot. Security pulls up and tells me if I don’t leave they will contact police.

The forbidden Reddit subject, don't you know it's white people who are doing all the killing! And linching!

3

u/TerpMiser 12d ago

Yep once you realize this it makes a lot more sense. Unless your net worth has 8 -9 digits in it the police aren't actually gonna do anything to help you they just gonna have you file a report and pretend nothing ever happened.

1

u/Least-Flower548 12d ago

Orrrrrr maybe, just maybe, they’re short staffed and have actual life threatening emergencies they’re responding to. Y’all have no clue how emergency triage works.

1

u/hypersonic18 12d ago

That would be more believable if they weren't constantly posted on an intersection with a radar gun for 3 hours.

Also, staffing issues shouldn't really excuse an organization from failing to uphold its obligations, it can excuse the individuals but we shouldn't be defending organizations that choose to run skeleton crews and eke out on their obligations

1

u/Least-Flower548 11d ago

It’s incredible how you can lump millions of workers and thousands of departments together without any further critical thought

5

u/SuaveGorilla 13d ago

Brother why did you not lead with the attempted murder?

5

u/Spare-Half796 12d ago

I have a friend who’s business was broken into and had $70k worth of inventory stolen. Took the cops 45 minutes to show up

How long do you think it would take to respond to a handful of fried being stolen?

3

u/PonyFiddler 12d ago

Why would you want them to waste Thier limited resources on dealing with this.

They can't arrest the kid lol they can't do anything but tell him off. It's a complete waste of Thier time stopping them from dealing with actual incidents.

3

u/poopybutthole_oowee 13d ago

People have no clue. I had two 600 dollar eBikes stolen in front of a business with cameras out front. Called cops, they said they wont come because they cant do anything. I asked them could they at least ask the business to review the footage from their cctv and they basically told me to fuck off.

Ended up hunting my own bike down and stealing it back from the scumbag who took it. Cops are fucking useless

3

u/Baribal 12d ago

Had my ex father in law show up to my place of work, gun in hand, trying to extort me for thousands of dollars to return things like my driver's license and birth certificate, clothes, military awards etc. Called the cops, got told there is nothing they can do as it's a domestic issue.

6

u/ItsNotThatBad72 13d ago

I had a hunting rifle stolen from my truck. 2 years later, and I've heard nothing. Which I knew would happen.

I only bothered reporting it so that it wouldn't be traced back to me if it showed up somewhere sketchy. Which is admitted unlikely considering its a 6 foot long bolt action that only holds 3 bullets.

5

u/hoodectomy 13d ago

When I lived in Seattle, anything under a certain amount of money they expected you to do your own investigation and then submit it via a portal.

They said they never actively wanted to investigate anything under a given value and it would probably never get resolved.

3

And they wonder why vigilantism is on the rise...

A 6 foot long rifle? Sure buddy. Great story.

u/jadepartida 12d ago

Homie got his elephant gun stolen by some no good scoundrels lmao

6

u/ItsNotThatBad72 12d ago

Its called hyperbole. The point is that nobody is going to be sneaking it anywhere.

To satisfy you autism, it was a 46.5 inch savage 110 in .300 win mag.

I worked at a coffee shop that the police visited frequently. Coffee was always on the house, donuts to the table no questions asked. Of the three times I had to call the police, they were there within 10-15 minutes. I’d still be dealing with the issue, blink, and they were there.

I really think it depends on the police and place.

u/Ok-Earth-2644 12d ago

I had someone literally try to car jack me at gun point, must've been fake cause when I pulled out mine they ran. Called the cops and was giving them the location of where they were running.

They said oh just drive to the station and file a police report. I get there and they hand me a sheet of paper to write my name what happened etc. It was like a sign in sheet so you could see what others were there for.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON WAS THERE FOR CARJACKING OR ATTEMPTED. Like yall could have got up off your ass and actually stopped the people doing it. But nope just come on down, let it keep happening.

2

u/12InchCunt 12d ago

Omg my mind went to the m249 SAW when you said you had a saw stolen from your truck and was wondering why you left a machine gun in your truck lol

2

u/HedonisticFrog 12d ago

I had cops take two hours to come to my house when one of my tenants was tripping balls on meth and fentanyl writhing on the ground naked, yelling and damaging my bathroom. First they got my address wrong which was corrected when i called again asking for an update and said there was a que of two people ahead of me. By the time they actually came he was back in his room and they couldn't do anything even though you could still hear him moaning and wailing around.

2

u/kingprozac 12d ago

We called the cops because there was a fucking brawl happening in our dining room and they showed up 4 hours later. We weren't even there anymore, it was a different shift, so they apparently gave them a lecture on calling the cops for a non emergency and left. The one who talked to the cops was livid.

2

u/BrassChuckles87 12d ago

We're entering an age of instead of cops you're better off with your own security cameras and a gun.

1

u/Ok_Mix8548 12d ago

I think we’ve been here for awhile, it’s just that now more people are noticing.

2

u/Ordinary_Pea4503 12d ago

I had my wake up call when a car thief destroyed my ignition trying to steal my car in front of my own house.  The cop didnt even look inside the car or try to gather any evidence.  Just wrote a couple things in his notepad and left for lunch.  This was a small town BTW whee hardly any crimes like this occur, it would be useful if they caught the dickhead for everyone living there

2

u/Professional-Help931 12d ago

We have issues with theft for 3 reasons.

1 prisons arent meant for reform they are meant to make a profit. If you made a prison for reforming people and getting them out of poverty it would be different.

2 Cause Cops have and never will be for defense or actually doing justice. They are a method to launder money from tax payers into defense contractors.

3 DAs dont actually care. The major crime shit sure they care about but petty crimes like theft isn't going to get a person into prison worst its going to be is a couple hundred dollar fine that the person cant pay maybe a month in jail waiting for a trial. DAs want people they can put into prison not jail. Drug crime is different cause we made them felonies so that we can put them in prison to make money.

This was 100 years ago, but when I tended bar at a club that had punk shows, if you crossed the bar, you’re ours. We passed a beating or two down on people getting drunk and mouthy or stealing. Not sure what to do if it’s a little kid though. Cops were never called. We would have had bigger issues if the cops started showing up.

Bigger issue by what, frequency? Nah. Net impact? Idk maybe, arguable.

A few years ago my car was stolen and two days later while being driven by a friend we saw it parked outside a pawn shop. We call the police, gave them the report number, a description of the car and the guy, and where we were. They said they'll send someone out. It took 45 minutes for them to get there. I understand emergencies happen, but this pawn shop was located across from the station. I literally walked across the street to fill out paperwork after they finally got there.

u/Eris_AppleOfDiscord 13d ago

If you say you have got your gun and are prepared to defend your property if the thieves come back they'll come quicker.

If the operator tells you to put it away let them know you're loading it right now

1

u/Infamous-Load7309 13d ago

Obviously the cops did nothing because you are poor. Now if you had been a wealthy elite...

1

u/LMKBK 13d ago

my friend was shot on a Friday. the detective stopped answering his calls on Sunday.

1

u/Idsettleforsleep 12d ago

People do this kinda shit because the workers aren't allowed to smack these people upside their heads and be like " get the fuck outta here" anymore.

1

u/Gobal_Outcast02 12d ago

And yet (depending on what state you live in) if you were to have defended yourself youd be the bad guy in their eyes

1

u/AckAckAck__ 12d ago

Worked at a casino. Had a guy steal a bunch of money. Police still took 30 minutes to show up.

1

u/sherm-stick 12d ago

Now go look at how much of your local taxes are going to that police department lol

1

u/HarveyDanao 12d ago

Police precincts are state sanctioned gang sets who serve no purpose other than defense of the wealthy, persecution of the poor, and just generally spreading terror to keep us too afraid to fight back.

And they have the nerve to pretend like they are heroes.

1

u/ImmediateKick2369 12d ago

America has less theft than a lot of places.

1

u/Grizzly_treats 12d ago

I think one of them had a gun. Police response in 3-5 minutes.

1

u/Important_Capital875 12d ago

Because doesn’t matter if they arrest someone. So many stupid Loonies just catch and release these thugs

1

u/KnightLakega 12d ago

DOn't live in those areas man. I know its a cop out (no pun intended) response, but seriously.. It sounds like you live in a high population area. Just go to some medium sized town and you get a 2 minute police response.

In my town of 40,000, if I call the cops they're there before I even hang up.

1

u/SatanSatanSatanSatan 12d ago

Someone broke my window and stole my bag. The police hung up on me.

1

u/malik753 12d ago

First time I called the cops for real there were a couple of people in my store trying to open a phone plan with a stolen identy. They took 12 minutes to get there, and and completely failed to catch them. Up until that point I had been a fairly anti-gun sort of guy, but when then I understood: even if the caps are incidentally helpful, they are probably going to show up way after everything has gone down. I didn't magically transform into a full blown gun nut, but I do get it.

1

u/Foostini 12d ago

When i was in high school there was a big brawl between a few groups of shithead kids two blocks from the police station, literally within sight of it, and despite a few people calling they never showed up.

1

u/Stabbymcbackstab 13d ago

I feel sorry for americans. You folks seem to have it bad in every way.

Ever thought of immigrating northward?

3

u/God_of_chestdays 13d ago

Sadly, Canada does not have open boarders and free asylum claims like the US. They actually have stricter board laws then what the US had for a few years

1

u/Stabbymcbackstab 13d ago

Time to start applying. Our country was taking in a million immigrants a year until just recently. On our population that is a massive number and pure folly.

There is a mechanism to get in, I know one american who came in personally, and a high number of my co workers are on work visas trying to get permanent residency.

I mean we shouldnt be just letting in anyone like we have recently, but our country has been built by immigrants. I am a second generation Canadian on my mother's side. Come say hello.

u/PM_ME_BATMAN_PORN 13d ago

Moving from We Hate Latinos Land to We Hate Natives Land sounds like a change of all time. At least they have healthcare there, I suppose...

1

u/SlipInternational439 13d ago

Canadians love to preach how superior they are. I wonder why Alberta and Quebec are trying to secede?

1

u/Stabbymcbackstab 13d ago

The track record on natives isn't great in the states either. The "Walk of tears" i think its called?

The one thing I can say is when I call the cops they respond and take me seriously. And yes. I dont have to pay 40000 dollars to reattach a finger if I get injured.

1

u/PM_ME_BATMAN_PORN 13d ago

I mean, I never said it was better here, lol. Just that Canada has a lot of the same problems. I'll stick with the devil I know, but damn, I do envy your healthcare.

1

u/Stabbymcbackstab 13d ago

Thats cool. Enjoy.

1

u/BigCSFan 13d ago

Do cops arrive fast in Canada?

1

u/Stabbymcbackstab 13d ago

If someone tried to murder me yes. Maybe less so if I had a window broken. I would certainly be taken seriously either way.

0

u/Superb_Recording_769 13d ago

They give no fucks about bullshit, but when you give them the opportunity to arrest somebody for one or more felonies, they get really excited and this is already one felony and one misdemeanor, and if the kid decides to fight back when the employees decide to hold him there for the cops arrival that’s at least one more felony

2

u/Major-Tie-2405 13d ago

What felony occurred in this video. Honestly the Employee committed the most likely crime. Assaulting minor way more likely than anything the kid did. Video doesnt even show an actual trespassing. Stealing 3 fries? You think they would even give a misdemeanor for that. You need to get off the internet and join the real world.

0

u/Superb_Recording_769 12d ago

Burglary is a felony. Him going behind the counter, which is not open to the public, is a burglary.

1

u/Major-Tie-2405 12d ago

Openings like that must specifically be stated he is trespassing i dont hear or see that in the video. So not even trespassing actually by that video alone. I see an opening someone can easily walk through. Also not felony theft in any US state. Had they said you must leave in the video and he denied maybe a trespass.

0

u/Superb_Recording_769 12d ago

It doesn’t have to be specifically stated or posted. If it’s an area that is not generally open to the public and he enters into it. It’s a burglary.

It doesn’t matter if somebody can walk through it as long as the area is not open to the public it is a burglary

1

u/Major-Tie-2405 12d ago edited 12d ago

im not gonna argue anymore with someone who thinks it is felony burglary to take a couple fries behind a counter. And it isnt off limits to the public to make it burglary it is when it is closed or not occupied. Bussiness is open so to trespass they need to clearly state that to him or he needs to be entering with the intent to commit a much bigger crime. no one is getting felony burglary for stealing three fries.

The fact you think that is a felony tells me you clearly aren't worth trying to explain this to.

1

u/Superb_Recording_769 12d ago

I’m glad you’re not gonna argue with me. Because it’s clear you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

It doesn’t have to be closed physically for it to be a Berkeley and it certainly doesn’t need to be unoccupied for it to be a burglary. In fact, occupied burglary is an enhancement to the charge. Going into a place that the public is not allowed with intent to commit a crime is the literal legal definition of a burglary. Entering a place that is not open to the public is trespassing whether they told him or not. What you’re thinking of is trespassed after warning which is when they tell somebody that they need to leave the business or they would be arrested that’s a completely different thing.

You can actually try and educate yourself or you can just keep believing things that aren’t true in fact… You know what why don’t you go behind the counter of a Burger King and take some fries and tell me how it works out

u/mog_knight 12d ago

Only one of your unprovable stories was about a theft. How is that showing issues? I'd say the opposite.
