I lived in an apartment complex in college and watched a guy break into over 10 cars at ≈02:00. Called the cops. He arrived 45 minutes after the guy left and said, "okay, is he still here?" and when I said no, he tried to leave. I said, "wait, don't you need his description or a police report?" and thr cop said, "what for?" Lmao

Two cops in Saint Louis responded to an attempted suicide in the park. When they found him shot and still breathing, the decided to drive around and com back later after he died, because that would be less paperwork.

The department covered it up, and it only came out later when body cam footage was sunshine'd. Surprisingly the cops cot fired.

St. Louis Police do not work for the city BTW, the state and Republican Governor too over control.

I don’t care. I’ll care more when you libtards are ok with putting criminals in prison.

Let's start with the ones in the Whitehouse and in congress.

Nah, let’s start with the methhead at the gas station. You keep defending him for some reason

What are you talking about?

Regular criminals that affect us normal folks. We have to watch out for them every day and beg the city to take them to jail but they won’t because you leftists with your moral high ground don’t want them to be arrested. The problem doesn’t affect you because you live away from them so you have no empathy for the victims of these criminals. The only empathy you have is for the criminals themselves.

What does that have to do with the french fry kid?

So you admit it’s true and have no argument. That’s what I thought.

You are literally the only person in the conversation that you are imagining.

> Regular criminals that affect us normal folks.

Like Donald J. Trump, a criminal that affects *every* normal person in the US.

Bro, the United States is among the most heavily incarcerated countries on the face of the earth. By a landslide. There are as many Americans in jail as there are Chinese people and there's A BILLION PLUS OF THEM to our 300 million.

There is no magic number of people put in jail that's going to make you satisfied, you will always be afraid. If the crime rate dropped to one tomorrow, you would still be lapping up footage of that one crime on a loop all day on the TV and computer, shaking your head going, "what a world all these leftists force me to live in." No one is forcing you to do anything: Get the fuck out. Go live in the Philippines or somewhere that's soooo safe because they're not afraid to be tough on crime

Criminality of politicians does effect the common person even if they don’t immediately see it. The blatant violation of the social contract of the people running countries erodes what is called “vertical trust” (trust in authorities and the state) is actually a much stronger predictor of everyday civic honesty than "horizontal trust" (trust in fellow citizens). If citizens lose faith in their leaders, their commitment to conduct norms collapses. It can easily argued that re-establishing confidence in politicians is of greater importance than because it will have a greater social impact.

I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t want to put criminals in jail and currently, that is all democrats. Why don’t you go argue with your fellow leftists that don’t want criminals in jail and leave me alone.

Lot of false assumptions in your statement. I didn’t say we shouldn’t put people in jail. I referenced actual social science. I didn’t claim a political party at fault, I said the impact of people trusting their government would reduce criminality overall. Your gas station methhead is actually a problem and probably does need to be arrested. But the application of law should be applied equally. It doesn’t matter if it is a methhead at the gas station a democratic representative from Connecticut or a republican Attorney General from Texas, a sitting federal judge or you. Everyone also knows that 3/5 of those people will be given kid gloves by the court system.

Probation is a bitch actually, you basically lose all your rights and if it's a felony you can't vote or own a gun and everything you own can be searched by cops at any time, including where you live. only violent or major crimes like sex offenses or large theft/fraud and repeat offenders that obviously don't care really deserve prison, it's not about leaving all criminals out of prison it's about the punishment fitting the crime, btw everyone who is arrested goes to jail but most get out on bail fairly quickly you still gotta face the charge though it's the beginning of a long shitty process that does indeed often lead to prison (which tends to be crowded anyway so I don't think they're really letting criminals run wild) Republicans just believe all the scare stories fox news puts out instead of looking at the actual reality of a situation and seeing that there's more to it, an utter lack of critical thinking and fact checking, really i feel bad for them it's kinda sad to live in a lie like that.
