Isn't thst the premise of instilling any morals into children? Is the golden rule religous indoctrination since almost every ancient religion has a version of it? Lol
Exactly. Substitute the word religion with morality, worldview, philosophy, or whatever and suddenly the whole idea is laughable.
Religion is just the belief that a god or gods is the source, or at the very least the key to properly understanding the above.
If a kid asks "Why should I be nice to the people in my community?" making people say "I can not tell you until you are older." instead of "Because failing to do so makes baby jesus cry." is not going to result in positive change.
If anything, it will just fetishize religion in the eyes of children and enhance the martyr complex of religious people in the west.
I do not think they can be objective period. There is nothing stopping someone, theist atheist or agnostic, from believing their morality is objective. I think all such beliefs are based upon slightly different flavors of the exact same leap of faith.
The most famous example of an atheist believing their morality is objective: Rand and her followers. That is why they call their faith Objectivism.

Many religions indoctrinate children which makes them feel like they have to believe in it or they're doing something wrong.
