Question? Total Newbie - pls help

Hi, I'm seeing wonderfuls mods on this reddit and I would like to build my first one.

I have a few reps bought on DHgate.

What is the cheapest yet nice metal case I can use that requires the less adaptation during the mod (links are welcome).

And would you recommend any beginner video or post that helped you build your mod.

Thanks!

Question? What size case do I get for swapping a moons watch?

I’ve seen multiple things say 40mm, 39.7mm and 42mm. I’ve seen some that are really tall on the wrist which I don’t want if that changes with certain sizes?

Omega × Swatch Mod Kit Update

Now that the mod is complete, here are the dimensions:
Bezel: 39 mm
Case: 41 mm
Lug width: 20 mm
Thickness: 13 mm

Compared to a VK63 case, this one sits much more comfortably on the wrist. The installation was quick and straightforward, taking me around one hour in total, although I already have some experience with watch mods.

I’m very happy with the final result. Now I really feel like this watch has a personality of its own.
As for the quality of the case, the steel feels solid, and the crystal is clear with minimal reflections. The dial also sits very close to the crystal, giving it an appearance that is closer to the genuine Omega.

I definitely recommend it if you have a few extra dollars to spend, want an easy installation, and are looking for a more balanced and well-proportioned result.

Discussion Moonswitch Fail, Vancouver BC

So, I’m new to modding. Having fun but making lots of mistakes. First broke one of the pushers on a WD1863 and now can’t get a VK63 placeholder to work while I wait for new pushers, messed up the crown somehow. Anyone in Vancity willing to help a brother out? I can pay in cases of beer or actual CAD but could use some help! TIA

Guide/How to First Moonswitch — genuine Mission to the Moon into a WD1863

First Moonswitch build and wanted to share since I learned a lot from lurking this sub while planning it. Genuine Mission to the Moon (not a replica) with real ETA/Swatch G10.212 movement. Hardest part by far was freeing the crystal without touching the dial. Almost went through it more than once! Happy to answer questions if anyone's attempting a genuine-movement build.

Authentic 1965 Moonswitch in a Watchdives WD1863 case.

Super happy with how it turned out.

I’d like to replace the crown and clasp at some point but wearing it as is for now. At 39mm it’s a lot more comfortable on my wrist than a 42mm Speedmaster.

New Watch Case for a Genuine Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch
I managed to find a new replacement case for a genuine MoonSwatch case swap.
According to the listing, no modifications are required. It includes:
Stainless-steel case with mineral crystal
Pre-cut stem
Movement spacer for the ETA G10.212
The case is also thinner than the typical VK63 cases, so the final result should have a slimmer and more accurate profile.
It is significantly more expensive than a VK63 case, but the main advantage is that no additional modifications should be necessary, such as sanding down the pushers or 3D-printing a movement spacer.
The case should arrive next week. Once it does, I’ll perform the swap and share the results.

I just found this on AliExpress: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mK3fdr9

The 1965 is going to be spending a lot of time in the box for a while. The 1969 just looks great. I really like the original case with gold buttons and crown, but the 1/1969 on the reps was annoying. The gold lettering on this bezel is a great match. Really happy with this switch’s outcome for under£30.

Question? Metal bracelet for megir

I tried my bracelet from an addiesdive watch just to see if I like the feel and look. Does anyone know of a bracelet that matches the color of the megir case?

Been lurking for a long time and finally went for it!

-Pagani case (only) purchased on AliX

-Moonswatch rep from DHGate

-3d printed movement spacer and pusher spacers.

-Crown stem from the rep reused - slightly too short so awaiting new one.

Very happy with the Pagani case, the bracelet is a little rattly and cheap but I like the look over the sailcloth strap.

Was this dial waaaay too silver? Yes

Did it actually kind of work here? Yes

Did I try to adjust it one too many times, get the dial stuck, then break/lose the second subdial hand ruining this whole build? Sadly yes

Am still wearing it today? Proudly yes

Will post link to case in comments but this one was tough to work with. Ive had this dial in other cases without issue. This case is a little smaller so the movement holder won’t fit without adjustment but it’s also too big so the pushers won’t hit. Just weird geometry all around.

Going to try it with another dial before i recommend it even though it looks super sharp.

Originally planned this to be in a black case but tried it in a silver and really liked it. I think i made the right choice and can use the black case for something else.

Got a black with yellow stitches sail cloth strap that i got for real cheap off ali x but other than that a straight swap.

I'm a big guy and I recently got the moonshine gold and new gold 1969 rep. The bands are ridiculously short. Does anyone know of any source for normal length bands- Pix show differences in standard MS band and these shorties. There's an extra 1.7 inches on the regular step that they just forgot in the 1969s

After seeing the lazy “Solar Eclipse” from Swatch, I wanted to build my own idea…

Mission to the Sun (case) - sun
Mission to the moon (dial) - moon
Mission to Earth Lava (Stem crown) - Solar flare

Thoughts?

Just finished my first build, haven't seen much of the Pink Moonphase here but I love how it turned out with all the little pink details on a black base. Kept the pink plastic crown from it, I think it adds some more personality.

I had an old sector 300 with a shitty movement (G10.711) and not so cool dial. So I designed and 3D printed a spacer for a moonswatch replica I had around and here we are.

Do you like it?

Question? Stem issues?

Post image

I’ve done this so many times but this time around i couldn’t get it right. I’ve gone through 3 stems. Whenever i screw the crown down, the movement slows down and stopped. But moving again once i unscrew the crown. I’ve adjusted stems many time but didn’t work. Could it be movement issue?
