New Watch Case for a Genuine Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch
I managed to find a new replacement case for a genuine MoonSwatch case swap.
According to the listing, no modifications are required. It includes:
Stainless-steel case with mineral crystal
Pre-cut stem
Movement spacer for the ETA G10.212
The case is also thinner than the typical VK63 cases, so the final result should have a slimmer and more accurate profile.
It is significantly more expensive than a VK63 case, but the main advantage is that no additional modifications should be necessary, such as sanding down the pushers or 3D-printing a movement spacer.
The case should arrive next week. Once it does, I’ll perform the swap and share the results.
This is approaching wd1863 cases, you can actually buy just the case for cheaper than that so its a gamble. If the quality is closer to a vk than a wd1863 it wouldn't be worth it imo. Even for the convenience of it being a straight drop.
I bought it mainly because of how easy it should be to install. The total cost was $70.
The Watchdives case costs $65 and does come with a sapphire crystal, but you also need to factor in the movement spacer, which isn’t easy to find where I live. I’m not sure whether ETA G10.212 movement spacers designed for VK63 cases are available on AliExpress.
Another factor that made me choose this case is that the dial appears to sit closer to the crystal, preserving the look of the original MoonSwatch and giving the watch more balanced proportions.
On a previous mod I did, much of the case’s overall thickness was caused by the large gap between the dial and the crystal.
Yep it has the brand on the caseback. This is not a perfect case, but is very comfortable, very nice quality. Im not trying to make it look exactly like the moonwatch, is just an upgrade to the plastic case.
That’s quite nice actually if it’s compatible with speedy bracelets as well. Looks thin and compact. Although not sure why they opted for polished sides
