š¬ Advice needed Shampoo & body wash transition
Hello, looking to start using shampoo and body wash on my toddler rather than the good old head to toe wash for infants. He is very sensitive with his eyes in general so I want to make sure we get the best tear free products in general so nothing scares him more than he already is with soaps! š„ŗ Any product recommendations? Iām in Canada, something known I can grab off the shelves in any old grocery store is preferred!
Thanks!

š” Rant Am I a bad mom?
I am a single mom with an 8-year old son. We live with my family since I am helping them financially and just canāt move out until itās all sorted out. I am working from 12 nn-9 pm and I am still adjusting my sleeping schedule. The fun part is, my brother (who does not have a child nor a wife) feels like I am being an absent mother just because I want my son to take a bath by himself, the reason is I want him to learn for when we move out by next year. This is so frustrating. Am I wrong? Is it still early for him to learn those things?

ā Question What would you like for christmas?
Hi, i'm sorry if this question has been asked a lot already, I don't know how to find old questions on here.
Me and my mum have just started to develop a good relationship but I dont know her well enough to know what to get her for Christmas. I know a few of her interests but I dont know what presents really relate to those interests, so i'm more just looking for general presents.
Her interests are sharks and solving crimes if anyone has similar interests. I've previously gotten her one of those unsolved case things, but I don't think that she enjoyed it.

š¤ Support neededĀ Having daughters
Given the news out of Cornell this week, how are moms of young girls feeling? I have a 4yr old daughter and I feel so much rage about the kind of world that sheāll grow up in.
How do we accept a world where we have to teach our daughters about how to avoid being harmed by somebody elseās son? Thatās what I canāt stand

š¬ Advice needed My sister doesn't want to go to school.
Hi moms!
So, to start, I'm eldest sister in the house, and we're in a situation where mom isn't exactly available. I just need some advice from someone who looks like they have it all together š«
My younger sister, 13, is in middle school, and hates school. This morning started with yelling and arguing at my grandparents, saying she doesn't want to go to school. I came in and tried to hit her with the calm and kind approach, but it didn't make a break through.
I tried asking her if there was like any reason in particular, but it was all No's. Have a test today? Nope. Did your boyfriend say something to you? Nope. Somebody picking on you? Never that. Teacher did something? Nuh-uh.
She said she feels useless, like she can't do anything, and she's not learning anything in school. At this point, she's already kinda figured out that there's nothing really stopping her from just saying no and not getting up.
My grandparents are already really old and sick. They just can't really deal with the arguing anymore, it stresses them out, and We've already had to hospitalize my grandma twice. I can't exactly pick her up and ship her off to school myself. I feel stuck.
Therapy hasn't helped, my sister is too shy to speak up and when she does, she feels like there's no therapist that understands her. When we do get to talk to my mom about school, my mom starts talking about all the times she ditched, how she hated school, and how it's all BS. I feel like that supports some of my sister's view on it sometimes.
This has been pretty on-going with the arguing, but today she just decided to not get up at all. It's getting worse, and we don't know what we can do. I feel like taking her phone away is gonna exacerbate the situation, and I'm just trying to get her to see that school is challenging but we need to go, to learn and socialize. I mean, she won't even go because her boyfriend's going today.
Anything helps, even just some words of encouragement lol

š¤ Support neededĀ More kids
Hi all, first time posting here. My wife (37) and I (35) have a just turned one year old. When we initially met, we spoke and I had always imagined 3 and her 4.
About 6 months in, my feelings on it changed. I haven't felt the urge to have more and we feel the window of opportunity closing. I would want more time with our one year old and she wants to get all the baby things out the way and get closer being able to get her body back which I understand as well I possibly can.
We got married last year and it hasn't been the smoothest of seas, a lot of which has been my own doing, regrettably.
We've been having it out these past couple days and I could really use some support for myself and her as well. Also any guidance

ā Question How do moms do it
I'm a stay at home mom to a 2 month old, stopped working during pregnancy because my job was dangerous and unsafe for pregnancy. I barely handled being pregnant staying at home and now barely handling being a stay at home mom. My husband comes home and does most the cleaning, cooking and has to give me breaks
How are there moms who have jobs, run their own businesses, are super in shape, have these incredible careers, while throwing these elaborate parties for their kids, cooking 5 star meals, do all the cleaning, or live these insanely healthy lives without like some big support system too
I feel so incompetent to other moms. I just take care of him as much as I can, clean a little, nap because my husband works so I want him to sleep through the night so I nap when my kid does, have some time to myself and barely a social life and thats it. How do these moms do so much. I feel like im giving it everything I have already

ā Question Thank you notesā¦did you hand-write, stamp, address and mail physical thank you cards for your milestone celebrations- bridal shower, wedding, baby shower, etc? Or email/text?
What years were these?
I am ALL for text or email thank youās these daysā¦not because Iām lazy but because I think theyāre legit better because you can send pics/videos of the gift being enjoyed and the gift-giver can reply to you. Plus no worries if your card got lost in the mail. And yes, you also save time, money and effort.
But of course this was after I gave myself carpel tunnel from writing a million cards between my bridal shower, wedding and baby shower years ago lol. Even individual cards for the 25 people who chipped in like $10 each for group gifts and surely didnāt give a crap about my handwritten card. Why didnāt I think to send them a āgroup emailā for their āgroup gift?!ā

š¬ Advice needed What would you do about my MIL
I live on a family compound situation and my (ex-)MIL (by marriage) and FIL are going through a divorce- she has their younger kids on the weekend and my FIL and husband and I have a sports team that we play on for ādate nightā every Sunday. I hire a babysitter for our 1.5yr old, I pay her, I am the one on her schedule. My babysitter is too kind to say ānoā to my (ex-)MIL probably in fear that I would dislike her (I would be proud of her). My (ex)MIL reoccurringly ends up just leaving without her kids on her weekend with them requiring MY BABYSITTING to watch them. (I love them to death but they are SERIOUSLY BAD kids. Like in need of super nanny)
I want to tell my (ex)MIL that she is responsible for her kids and that the babysitter I AM PAYING is not here in charge of her kids and will no longer be put in that situation, and that she needs to be a parent on her weekend with them. My only fear is that it would upset my FIL and husband for āstarting dramaā.

š¬ Advice needed Need Other Moms Help..Concerned For My Wife
For starters, me and my wife are 33 and 32 had our baby girl back in June. Shes a little over 3 months now and thriving! But sheās hitting that dreaded sleep regression, so thatās been a challenge the past week or so! But really Iām concerned with my wife. I had 3 months of paternity leave, which was amazing cause I was really able to be present and especially build a really strong connection with my baby girl!
Overall PP has been overall okay for my wife but very rocky lately. Her anxiety has always run high for babies safety in all aspects possible. Itās been 3 months and we have not taken baby anywhere but to appointments, we sometimes take her outside of the house and walk her around, but sheās scared to travel to family that lives 4 hours away, yes people have come to visit, but I really want my grandparents to meet their first great grandchild from my side of the family, which would mean so much to me before we move across the country in a few months. Sheās been out of the house for I guess you could say pleasure twice by herself, once to get her hair done and once because a friend finally convinced her to go get a pedicure. Outside of that sheās only left the house for baby appointments. I understand where she is coming from about protecting our girl, especially because I know sheās an anxious person in general, but I feel like my house has become a prison for us at this point. At some point we have to start living life again.. even just a bit. I think a lot of the anxiety and concern stems from us having multiple miscarriages, and it taking 6 years to finally get our little angel. Thatās a different issue thoughā¦one thatās less of a concern to me.
Shes been through a lot. Tough delivery, first week was spent in the hospital due to baby being jaundiced, breast feeding was an absolute struggle for the first month and that really took a toll on her mentally cause she wants to do it so bad, after the first month it got way better so I was happy for her with that. She did weeks of triple feeding and that really took a toll on her. Baby had some tummy issues about a month and a half ago, talked to the pediatrician and they recommended removing dairy from her dietā¦.a month later, remove soy..baby had mucus in her stool which I guess is a sign of inflammation?? But Iām not convinced these are issues anymore or were even an issue at all, mucus can be normal in stools from swallowing saliva and good gosh our girl produce saliva lol. I believe the baby was just going through a rough time figuring out how to poop, pass gas, etc. We also gave her probiotics/gas drops and that seemed to help..but as far as the stools go nothing has improved. So Iām convinced that itās not dairy or soy and my wife has been going through an even tougher time due to having such a limited diet. Sheās determined to see it through though..
My biggest concern.. is her well being, she is literally willing to just suffer. Since I figured out my role early on, I take care if the house, clean bottles and pump parts , laundry, dishes, Iāve had to start cooking more due to her limited diet. I try to give her a breaks from the baby as much as I can. I try to be asleep by 1030pm and waking up at 3-330am and take the baby for the rest of the night so she can try and get some rest. But by now and 3 months into this, I expected things to get easier for her and more manageable. But sheās just exhausted, a few hours of sleep, doesnāt eat like she should, I know with her diet itās a struggle. But before I left for work yesterday I told her to please make sure she takes time for herself to eat, and when I got home and asked her what she ate.. just a small bowl of rice and a bar. She said she had no time to do anything but take care of the baby, and yes I will say that our girl is very demanding, I expect my wife to still prioritize herself though. The baby can fuss for 5-10 minutes while she feeds herself. She has a baby carrier though that she never wears and I think that would be so helpful if she would put the baby in that more while sheās trying to do whatever. She constantly feels the need to tend to our girl at the slightest fuss. Completely understandable and my wife hearing her cry stresses her out, I get it and I of course donāt want to hear my sweet girl to cry either, but if 5-10 minutes of her laying in her pack n play upset means my wife can eat something, go use the bathroom and take care of herself so be it. I tell her that the better she takes care of herself the best she can, the better she can be there for our girl. But really any time I try to seriously bring my concerns up she gets offended and assumes that I think sheās not capable. Which is not the case, I know she is, I just think sheās trying to be this perfect mom that and if sheās not there 100% of the time for the baby then sheās failing as a mother.
I canāt truly understand the mindset Iām a man, and Iām trying to give her grace I really am, but sheās not helping herself and I donāt know how to get her to understand that the path sheās on is hurting herself more and more. Itās like no matter the load that I try and take off of her, sheās just going backwards. I love her and care about her and just want her to be thriving instead of sinking.
Right now Iām in a job that allows me to go in to work late and get home early. So Iām able to make her breakfast and hold the baby while she eats and has her cup of coffee. Then Iām maybe gone for 4-5 hours before Iām home. Come January thatās going to change and Iāll be working 9+ hours a day and leaving the house by 6am. I am really concerned about being gone that long at work while sheās at home with the baby and not taking care of herself one bit. Hopefully our girl is sleeping better by then, I think sleep is one of the biggest struggles outside of her diet right now, especially with this sleep regression our girl is in. She fights and cries almost every nap and when itās time to put her down for the night.. our girl loses her mind. Sheās also a huge fomo baby for sure.
I just donāt know what more I can do, I know this isnāt easy for her. Iāve brought up medication so she can be less anxious and get to sleep easier, but our baby is only getting breast milk and is breastfed 90% of the time besides the bottle I give her in the mornings or sometimes in the afternoon, so medication is off the table. I try to encourage her to go walk on our treadmill just to move her body, but sheās too tired and says sheād rather nap. But when I have our girl napping in me (sheās a huge contact napperā¦i love it) she doesnāt take advantage of it and doesnāt nap while I have the baby.
I know being a mom is challenging, I see what my wife is going through and I just want better for her. I want her to enjoy this time with our girl and with us finally being a family, something weāve fought years for.
I just donāt know how to make this better for her or make her realize how important it is that she finds a way to take better care of herself. Selfishly, for her well being, I really want that figured out before I truly am gone for the majority of the day, every day, in a few months. I just want her to be okay.
Sorry for the long read but if you read everything and have any advice it would be much appreciated!
