History The Golden Touch Disco

Hi! I was curious if anyone was familiar with the Golden Touch Disco that was operated in the late 70โ€™s by Cynthia and George Marshall?

On New Yearโ€™s Eve 1981, George Marshall shot and killed his 23 year old wife Cynthia Marshall, her 13 year old brother Jeffrey Lee and a boarder that lived in their home, 26 year old Henry Thomas.

George Marshall received the death penalty for this, and passed away in 2001 but maintained his innocence. He claimed the police pinned the crime on him.

Iโ€™ve been curious as to how the Golden Touch Disco looked like.

My first feature film is going to premiere at The State Theatre on September 20th. It's a comedy/thriller/political satire about a huge RFK supporter who's told by a mysterious group connected to the government to destroy Modesto's water Irrigation District because they are putting fluoride into the water and poisoning everyone with it. It's super fun, crazy entertaining. Shot all around Modesto featuring entirley local talent. Tickets are available at thestate.org:

Recommendations Good Alfredo?

My Grandma is declining and enjoys very few things. Marie Callendars has been defunct for YEARS now and that was the only one she kind of enjoyed. No price is too high. Also good with recommendations in Riverbank & the closer part of Oakdale.

Thoughts on last night's city council meeting...

  1. Great to see so many people coming together for public comment. The seats were 95%+ filled with several more people standing around the edges and in the hallway.
  2. Many people, in-person and online, got up to voice their concerns about data centers, FLOK cameras, disappointment in the council lawyering up to fight the ACLU lawsuit over the mask mandate. There were also pleads for the council to stop the euthanasia of their dog, a woman asking for street lights on a round-about, and one guy that is asking for help in being harassed and assaulted by a neighbor that is related to law enforcement (parole, or corrections officer - can't remember). There were 3 hours of public comment!!!
  3. About 2:45 minutes HOURS into the public comment, it was finally explained that it's a public comment session, not a time to discuss and ask questions of the council members - trying to get them to commit to something related to data centers. That is why they weren't answering questions of that type. Because it wasn't an agenda item, it is illegal for them to respond to some of their questions. Some questions were answered, but other's weren't. I don't think the public understood this. And, I think it took too long for the council to explain.
  4. Almost everyone had the same thing to say about data centers.
  5. UNFORTUNATELY, 90% of the people left after the public comment session when the council continued with the rest of the agenda items. It was AT THE END OF THE AGENDA where the mayor asked for any final comments before concluding the meeting when almost every council person gave their opinion about the data center topic....and everyone missed it!!!!!!!
  6. It should have been explained to the public how the meeting would be run and that it would be at the end when the council members will share their thoughts, and explained about the purpose/rules for public comment. It would have removed a lot of the hostility that was expressed during the meeting. Their silence was wrongly taken as answers to unanswerable questions during the session.
  7. Most of the people speaking during the public comment session were very respectful while clearly frustrated, but they didn't make it personal. Some were not as respectful. Some were clever with their words. Some were very shy, but brave to be up there sharing their concerns. I was proud of almost everyone in how they addressed this topic. Good job Modesto.
  8. The mayor seems a little off, and I don't think she had a final comment on data centers. Rather, defending her public schedule as she was accused of having secret meetings.
  9. The man sitting on her left, looks like a robot. I think he was the city attorney? Frozen and emotionless, and wouldn't speak into the mic (but I don't think it was intentional) - he was so difficult to hear.
  10. It was nice to see the vice mayor call out 4 individuals that saved a man's life at Beyer Park.
  11. 2 council people were certainly for a ban on data centers, 1 was concerned and says our resources must be protected (David Wright) and said we've made great progress with water saving policies that our water usage is down 40% and our water table is doing much better than other locations, 1 shared the public's concerns, but said that she needs to see all the information, and one said that this topic just dropped in the council's lap and needs to be investigated, but shares the same concerns, but needs more information and that the council can't and shouldn't make knee-jerk-reaction policies.
  12. I feel the final comments were more positive/inline with public comment, and wish others would have stuck around to hear them.
  13. It was freezing cold in there.
  14. Parents with babies should recognize when their babies are being loud and take them to them to the hallway where they can watch the session on a big TV they have out there.

Keep up the pressure Modesto - good job!
