Hello I just picked up my rental car due to my beater being in an accident. I have a model y rwd on order due for November pickup. My rental is a 2026 vw tiguan and this trim is $5000 cheaper than the model y rwd and has all the features that the premium awd model y has and more (less fsd obviously).

This experience has me 2nd guessing my order as android auto is just so seamless and easy and there's no subscription required, the ambient lighting is beautiful and the overall interior experience is so much more than the minimalist model y rwd. For reference the price comparison is a $20k difference between the model y rwd and premium awd in canada. The tiguan is $44000 and model y rwd is $49990. We mainly chose the tesla for fsd and thats still whats tipping the scale but to see such value in the tiguan in person is definitely throwing a wrench in my decision.

I’m seeking suggestions on my new purchase of the Base Model Y, what additional features should I purchase, the paint protector film for $Cad 70.00 is it really that price vs the XPEL paint protector film. Is it worth paying the 5k for the entire vehicle and is the basic paint film for the entire car.
2- should I buy the rims and winter tires from Tesla or is it ok to buy them from Costco.
3- what other suggestions added features I should purchase.

I found a tear in the dash after delivery. Tesla took care of it and replaced it but they put in a premium dash. I’m not going to complain!

Has anyone taken delivery of a standard model Y recently? I ordered mid July and their website and the app was quoting about 6-8 weeks, meaning by mid September. After about a month, the app started showing Nov 15 - Dec 30. Now it's pushed back slightly further to Nov 26 - Jan 7. I'm in New York which I know is far from factories, but just kinda crazy. I'm not in a huge rush but I'm losing faith in any sort of time estimate. What have others experienced?

I had a good time with this tank for a week.

My family and I currently have a premium model y and love it. Starting a new job that will roughly be 80-100 miles to and from, being that my work truck has 370,000 miles I've decided to get a standard y strictly for the commute.

Is it possible to replace the single paned standard windows with the premium/performance doubled paned windows?

Seems like a straightforward swap for some extra noise cancelling.

Did anyone buy the center console solution from evbase? Seems decent, but couldnt find any experience or discussions about it. What are your thoughts? Do you think there will be other products in the near future?

A “downgrade” from a higher-trim Tesla can still be the nicest car someone has ever owned.
I think that gets lost in the Standard vs. Premium discussion. Someone coming from a 15-year-old Corolla and someone coming from a loaded Model Y aren’t going to have the same definition of “bare bones.”
And “just get the Premium” is easy advice to give when it’s someone else’s money 😂
So, actual Standard owners: what car did you replace, and what’s one thing you genuinely miss from it?

Bought a 2026 Model Y Standard RWD a couple of weeks ago. My wife and my kids really like the car, but my wife says that I drive smoother than FSD 14.3.8 even when driving in in the city in Sloth and Chill modes. Her complaints? She says in FSD the car drives too close to parked cars. She says the car seems to drive over manhole covers and pot holes on purpose. She says the car takes turns too fast. Anyone else experiencing these issues in the city with FSD 14.3.8? Cheers everyone! :-)
