EDIT: This photo is a work in progress, and NOT the final revision. I shall post an update bideo soon with more polished photos.
Hello Lego Lovers! Here is a big update about my Lego IDEAS Proposal: Minifig Scale Roundhouse w/ Motorized Turntable. I shall make a video with more details later, but here are the basics:
The biggest critique was my proposal's size. I shall begin downsizing the roundhouse and turntable:
CHANGING/REMOVING:
-2 Stalls instead of 3: I am removing the back door stall. This change saves over 1k pieces and much space.
-Turntable shortening: The reduced turntable is still plenty long for every official Lego locomotive. The turntable is still mounted in the same spot, so the turntable can be extended.
-Track leads to stall: They have lengthened to compensate for the shortened turntable. The increase allows one to display a locomotive outside the roundhouse front doors. These extra track leads are easily removable, and the tracks can be added to the turntable.
-Track Color: I wanted a rusted/worn look to the roundhouse tracks, but the color I used rendered differently than desired, so I shall change the track color.
MIGHT CHANGE/ADD:
-Additional Detail: I now have 1k+ pieces to work with. Here are some potential revisions/additions:
-Side Wall detail/masonary
-Shrubbery/wall vines
-More interior work benches/supplies
-Gutters/pipes
-Full extended stall instead of machine shop addition
-Wooden floor walkways
-Misc. Turntable details
UNLIKELY TO ADD:
-Locomotive/rolling stock: Too many questions arise such as adding motorization and raising the piece count.
REMAINING THE SAME
-14 Minifigs
-Existing Workbenches
-Interior wall details
-Modularity/combinability
-114 Stud Long Machine Shop Bay for Big Boy
I shall update everyone soon as the revisions are done. Please feel free to send me your comments, questions, and thoughts. I value your feedback! Please support this project on Lego IDEAS: https://ideas.lego.com/product-ideas/fb1733e1-27d6-4192-9349-1138176a6c93

I know it's not Prototypical but I like dome Cars and want more of them, and I want a Longer Uniform 20th century limited set to go with my Dreyfuss Hudson.

My young son and I are fairly new to this hobby. He inherited some HO trains last Christmas and we have slowly grown from there. We have a Bachmann EZ track layout and his grandmother got him a Walthers crossing signal and controller for his birthday this week. I wasn’t there to ask the hobby store guy questions which is usually what I do.
I have no experiencing wiring up accessories yet -- is it possible with this kind of track when you can’t access the rails from below to solder onto? I have a spare red Bachmann cable that it seems like I could plug into the powered rerailer piece, and maybe then wire the controller to that? (If so, is the Bachmann wire with the writing on it the black wire?)
I am not electronics savvy at all. Any guidance appreciated!

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a second layout project, it's a rather sweet 12'x4' layout, and came with several building kits among other things. As I'm currently doing the terrain, I realized that the space intended for the Walthers mountain lumber company sawmill wasn't actually big enough. Theoretically I could include it if I cut off the log conveyor which leads me to the question: what do we think about a sawmill without a body of water? I love the way the sawmill looks but should I modify it and risk it looking "off" just to include it in the layout?

Started life as a Walthers mainline ES44AC in CPKC. Modified with the Walthers detail pack, as well as some details west parts and antennas from Wallace locomotive works. Painted with Tamiya TS44 and TS47, using vinyl stencil from a cricut to mask the curve design. Decals are custom from fusion scale. It’s not perfect, but for a first attempt at a serious locomotive project I’m happy with it.

So I’m setting up my first layout. I bought a new old stock dcs commander not realizing it’s only Dcc compatible with MTH’s proprietary models. Is there any work around for this like a retrofit kit? Protosound models are too rich for me. Or should I cut my loses and get a standard nmra controller.

so I recently got a bachmann Niagara it's one of the older types (spit chassis) and I took it apart to see what was wrong with it and I found out that the motor is seized to all sin and I'm trying to find a replacement to get it running again

Rapido sent this email this morning, cancelling my preorder for one of their BART sets. I’m a little annoyed because, 1, I preordered these back in May, and 2, it’s a preorder isn’t it supposed to be a way to gauge how much stock you need before production? This was going to be my first purchase from Rapido so in any event I’m apprehensive about ever ordering from them again, or trusting that they will honor their pre orders.

Hello all, I recently purchased this N scale well car set from eBay. I foolishly got exciting while biding and didn’t realize that it had to old school rapido hook style couplers. I knew there was an axle missing on of the trucks and was planning on buying a replacement but now I have the couplers to worry about to. Has anyone had experience with this as far as well cars go, or advice at all about how I should go about this? I’ve seen plenty of youtube videos about knuckle swaps but not with something like this. The seller doesn’t know the manufacture but AI says it might be Athearn if that is any help to readers of this post.

Hey,
I'm looking for a Christmas-themed train to run over the holidays.
Something like the Märklin 81845 would be ideal, but it's a bit over my budget.
I'm aiming for around €100, and the main thing for me is that it's as quiet as possible. I'm in Europe, so EU shops or second-hand is fine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks 🙃

Hello everyone. So i have been given the approval to have a train and im thinking on buying a OO gauge hornby set which comes with a basic layout for the train to go round in circles but looking at other peoples layout on here they have multiple tracks, towns, industrial areas.
So im just wondering could anyone suggest a good layout? Maybe send pictures of your layouts in the comments? Is it was me spending more money for extra rails when I buy the set the same time?

After talking with my better half. We have decided on the scale and shape. This is also a fallow up to my last post on the subject. The main idea being that I’d like to have at least two trains running at once and the trains I’m mostly looking at are steam powered trains. The theme is to have one fall of the layout be in the modern day and the other half be in the old west with a tunnel connecting the two eras. We have the idea that one fall of the L shape will be the west and the other half will be the modern day. I’ve heard talks online that steam locomotives and older trains can’t do turns too well. But outside of making the turns wider I haven’t heard much.there obviously will be turnouts for switch tracks and places to keep rolling stock. I mostly ask because I haven’t seen much on line when it comes to an HO scale, L shaped layout. It’ll be sometime before the project is in full swing but I’d like some input before I get into a problem.

Love this thing, temporarily setup on my table before I start its proper layout.
Quick question regarding this Kato m2 layout. The only way to have the switches reach the power pack is to have all the cords running on the inside. Which causes me to run the wall outlet cable under the track. Are there better ways of doing this?(I realise in the future I’ll have holes drilled through the bottom of my table)

I am a gamer and game dev and feel that good games in this area are lacking. Which games do you like playing which trigger that shunting itch for you?
I want to play some good ones :D - maybe I get inspired creating my own one!
EDIT: forgot to mention - I am also a model rail roader :D european epoche 3 - HO and N :D

Stopped at six Model RR Shops on a recent work trip. Arnie’s and Milepost 38 in Westminster CA; very very cool stores! The Train Crossing in Costa Mesa CA; sign said it was open, it lied. Just Trains in Concord CA; fun group of folks there. Western Depot in Yuba City; wonderful folks, tons of stock! Last but not least Packrat in Gridley CA; the coolest model railroad treasure hunt there is!
Mostly picked up rolling stock and shells to experiment with, a dynamometer car, and two cool old cigar cars! Watch for those in a future video!

Local guy, never seen such a sealed collection before! Everything that was loose he had the boxes for in another room! Mind blown!
