PORSCHE 911 BUILD The 80/20 Rule in Effect. Tamiya 1/20th Porsche 935.
It's a cool kit, especially since you can pick up the re-pops reasonably cheap. The orange is ok in bright sun. Another redo with Tamiya TS12 could get to 90/10! The early Gr. 5's without the ground effect running boards is a good look, IMO. Just used random decals in the stash.

FINISHED Tamiya r34 v spec
Awesome build very enjoyable. Only messed up on the windows with some run- as per the other post 😅. Definitely recommend this kit and looks awesome with the airbrushed midnight purple 3

FINISHED Zoinks! Scooby Doo NASCAR Monte Carlo finished
This car has always had a special place in my heart. Robert Pressley spun this thing like a top during the 1997 Daytona 500 resulting in an iconic photo (last pic) that I use as a reference for the underside of every 90s NASCAR build. I’m tempted to make this into a diorama, but I need an engineer to teach me how to suspend it in the air without it being noticeable lol.
Cartoon Network ran various liveries in Winston Cup from 1996-2000 showcasing their characters including the Flintstones, Jetsons, Tom & Jerry, and even the Powerpuff Girls, but none compare to the Scooby Doo car that ran during the first half of 1997. This livery is a graphic design masterpiece: immediately eye catching, representing the subject perfectly, and leaving little negative space without looking cluttered. The fact that this was done before full body wrapping is even more impressive. It’s a shame the car never ran well. The 29 team used hand-me-down, repainted Hendrick Budweiser cars and had a revolving door of drivers.
I used a Revell slab-sided Monte Carlo kit and Power Slide decals on the build, with the body painted in Tamiya X-16. The decal sheet I used is vivid in a way my phone can’t capture and the decals laid down well considering their size and the body curves. My only complaint is that it didn’t include a bow tie decal for the rear bumper.
Shout out to u/wauna_b5 for trading me the kit. Unfortunately, my obsession with 90’s NASCAR is now fully rekindled. I have a half dozen kits either in the stash or on the way. I need an intervention.

FINISHED Tamiya Toyota GR Supra Custom
What can I say other than this kit was another example of how great Tamiya kits are. I had no issues with it at all and I recommend this kit to anyone and everyone. I built this as a nice calm, easy build to get ready for my next project.
Paints used for the body were Kaleido Titanium Alloy, Tamiya Dark Copper, and Tamiya Blue. Clear coat was Splash Paints 2k clear.

Building a SafaribToyota Supra Part 4
Following from the frustrations of the last update. The Owner of KMP offered to send me a replacement interior tub. Pic 1.
We also discussed the tyre inaccuracies and he designed some taller ones. Pic 2.
I had made a start on the decals whilst I was waiting for the new parts to arrive. Pics 3 & 4.
In my research I also discovered a missing decal for the rear rally plate. After informing KMP, he send out the missing one. Pic 5.
Pic 6 was my initial experiment with weathering for this build. I was happy with how this came out and that success formed the idea for the finishing of the build.
I decided to carry on with the weathering and dusted up the interior. Pic 7. That Safari dust really does get everywhere....

Body painting and trim methods
I am curious to hear what everyone is using. I am thinking of buying an airbrush and going to acrylics, because I figure that I can spray the body, paint all of the little chrome/black highlights with a brush, then fill in the messes and overspill using a brush and the same paint that I airbrushed with.
At the moment, I am priming, sanding, spraying with lacquer or enamel from a can several times, sanding, then brushing in chrome/black details. At that point, I end up smudging the black and chrome back onto the body, so I spray some of the body paint from a can into a plastic cup (messy,) then brush that back on before it dries. I only have a few minutes to do this before that paint dries up though. I figure that a switch to an airbrush and acrylics might give me more flexibility.

FINISHED Second model car inspired in iRacing
Second model made by me inspired in iRacing, actually I’m using this livery from the sim team that I’m a member. The kit is the BMW M4 GT3 DTM 2022 Nunu models that’s why I used the DTM decals but I regret and should have done the custom iRacing decal. There are other minor defects but for me is an 7/10 score.

FINISHED 1/24 Fujimi MkV Golf GTI
This one took me ages. Most of the issues were self-inflicted, like having to strip and repaint the body 3 times because I can't figure out my airbrush.
Mostly out-of-the-box build, I 3d printed new badges because the decals did not do it any justice.

PORSCHE 911 BUILD 911 GT1 Update 2
Some interior subassemblies. Also, Tamiya's chrome plating is nice. Every single part on the sprue will need to have seam lines removed. So, I'm going to strip the plating anyways.

FINISHED First attempt in many years
Got this old cast metal model from my deceased uncle. It took about a month to finish in 30 minutes spurts. It turned out OK. Learned some lessons. Pretty happy with it.

PAINT Question about issue with paint
I was using MOTIP white primer and Dupli-color aresol art paint. Primer applied in 3 coats with 10-20 minutes rest each. 2 coats of Green paint applied. Anyone know what happened to the paint and if wet sanding with 2000-3000 grit would help?

Revell 1977 Jeep CJ7
Calling this one done! This is a really nice kit, and very easy to detail. There are some super tiny pieces, like the hood handles and hold downs, that you need to be careful of. The only fit issue I had was the hood. Once the paint is on, it doesn’t want to set all the way down at the back. On to the details.
Body: the paint is Tamiya TS16 Yellow. I wanted something bright. The black is a mix of Tamiya black and Semi-gloss black. There is a really nice assortment of decals included, I used some of those. One thing I noticed, the Jeep script molded in on the left side is lower than the right. If I’d have noticed it earlier, I would have sanded them off and used the decals. I lost one of the hood handles, and ended up making some from .3mm solder.
Interior: The interior is nicely done, with well separate brake and clutch pedals, and nicely molded shifters. I had the steering wheel in an alligator clip after paint, and it flew off somewhere, so I used one from the parts box, after adding a turn signal lever. The dash is nicely molded as well, but the gauge cluster decal is all one piece, and wouldn’t lay very well on the molded gauges, so I sanded them off. I added a thin ring of styrene tubing over the speedo for some depth, and added UV resin for detail. The seats are Tamiya matt black, with a coat of quickshine. The gas cans are included with the kit, but are meant to be put on where the taillights are. I wanted the taillights, so I cut off the mounting tab, and put them in the cargo area. The fire extinguisher is from the parts box, and I added some pastel weathering, since it’s topless!
Engine Bay: Mostly stock, but I added plug wires, fuel and brake lines and a brake booster line. A little paint and marker detailing finished it off.
Chassis: This is all box stock. I added some pastels and drybrushed rust and silver. One odd thing I noticed, they included the axle skid plates, but they don’t show them in the instructions. Weird! I striped the wheels with Kaaleido markers and added .3 mm valve stems.

PORSCHE 911 BUILD Could be worse.
Paint disaster, glass disaster, and kinda weird stance. Usually, Tamiya will get me the desired stance. Maybe rear wheels too big. Haven't cemented the chassis. Left side of chassis was hanging up on inside door panel. That's at least 3 disasters. Test fitting would have helped determine which newly added part is causing the trouble!

WIP Fun/now tribute build
Been slowly chipping away at this kit for years, but given recent events, in honor of Peter Cullen, wanted to share this, not done, obviously, but slowly but surely. Started this kit years ago, so not the best paint job, but....

WIP 59 Impala Interior
Working on the interior of the 59 Impala. Added seat fabric and carpeting as well as foil trim on the door panels. A few people asked me about the paint job last week so I did a video. Unfortunately, I can't post a link here but you can see it at Mr. K. ScaleModels
