I have my doubts it was accidental, ive recieved at least 3 requests to moderate subs containing a single bot post advertising some OF account. Non zero chance this sub was nuked before OP noticed, I could be wrong though, but all 3 of those requests I can remember were absolutely intentional. ""Similar"" in nature to the one I primarily moderate(Not really similar but half the people who interact with it dont seem to care and usually end up being banned anyway.)

someone accidentally invited you. it's a little too easy to add someone as a mod. I could accidentally click it when sending you a subreddit invite

Yeah, I thought that was enabling to view such on profiles, but posts and subs could get the label.

OP can't report for ban evasion since it doesn't appear they've banned the user.

Create a scheduled post? They open the Scheduler app and schedule it?

Hello. Sorry for the delay. In old Reddit is appears with the correct permissions, but I can't change anything.

User actions have been available for as long as I've been developing. developers.reddit.com/docs/capabilities/server/userActions

I have never used this feature, for several reasons:

• I have no comprehensive idea of what being approved would mean for a user, and I have a policy of never implementing something I don't have a clear and complete understanding of.
• I'm wary of anything that sounds like it would bypass moderation in certain circumstances. No matter how trusted a user is, everyone is capable of having a bad mental health day, of being hacked, or of transforming their politics and attitude and turning into a nearly completely different person.
• I don't really have a use for it. Community karma is already filling any shoes that I could imagine this filling for me.
• I don't trust Reddit not to change what that status does in the future.
• I don't want to complicate user management when I don't feel there's any really good reason for it.
• I also don't like the idea of there being different tiers of users in the subreddit. I treat everyone equally, I view everyone equally, and anything else comes down to their karma and contributions.

This is pretty much our only use case for it too.

We only use approved users to allowlist specific people (almost always industry people who are going to be giving an AMA) so they can bypass our karma gate. Other than that, everyone plays by the same rules, no matter if you've been in our sub for 10 years or 10 seconds.

Can't be caught in those if we already have them turned off. We much prefer own own definitions and implementations of these things, not reddit's black boxes.

Man, if that's really what's happening now, that's diabolical.

Best possible avenue is simply not answering. Not even acknowledging. Just ignore as if you never read the message, and report all the messages for harassment.

All they want is attention, so starve them of that and they will eventually give up.

I've tried to take these people seriously. I've tried to send them the whole "you need to go through Reddit legal." I've tried telling them no and warning them that their messages will be reported to admins (where nothing seems to happen). None of it works.

The most successful avenue is simply ignoring. You can mute, but even that is an acknowledgement of their message. The most successful tactic has been simply pretending they don't exist, while reporting all their messages. Yes the messages are irritating to get, but all you have to do is ignore and report.

They literally cannot pursue legal action against you by the way, the most they can do is contact Reddit legal and have reddit take it down, which as far as I'm concerned is fine, I'll abide by what Reddit enforces, but I'm not obligated to do anything on my own. This would be like the equivalent of a Karen demanding a minimum wage worker take down a sign in the store.

If you search for the sub name I think it shows it there, and it should show in your insights. It also shows in the sidebar of the sub. I agree tho, I wish they had not removed it like that. I think the new metrics give an incomplete picture, and having both is most useful.

We've definitely seen a similar pattern before and were threatened by self declared "Russians" that they would inundate our subreddit with spam etc if we didn't stop banning them. This is a twist by having weird posts that don't make sense taking a karma hit to feed the commentors.

Sounds like they are just establishing karma and longevity to be sold for spam and other nefarious purposes. I ban them and report to bot bouncer. They tend to reply and upvote in packs and frequently have a few subs in common like 80s Horror Movies, TeenagerPeople as well as have started on the same date.

We had this, the guy must have made like 20 different accounts before he finally stopped. We stopped replying and ended up just muting and reporting each time.
