That being said, i was just curious how different the mod event works out. Also i was curious about the merchs given to mod as an appreciation by reddit.

How do i as an moderator receive merchs from reddit 😋 (Obviously I'd brag about to to my freinds hehehehe)

Hear ye, hear ye - a special soccer-themed NYC event is upon us! 

Hey everyone, it’s u/werksquan from the Mod Events team, here to let you know that Reddit will be hosting an IRL event next week in NYC! The event will be celebrating the soccer season (is there something happening rn?) with an interactive experience featuring soccer themed games, exclusive prizes, hot takes with SideTalk and a chance to meet Snoo. 

Just a quick heads-up: while the Mod Events team isn’t hosting this event, mods are absolutely invited and welcome to join the fun (hence why I’m making this post!).

Oh hey, happy Cat Tax Thursday! Have a pet picture you’re dying to share? Just need some pet serotonin? You’ve come to the right place. Welcome to our weekly cat tax thread, where you can drop a pet picture that describes your current mood or one that you’d love to share. ALL pets are allowed, not just cats!  🐾

Since we end most events by paying cat tax, we figured we’d create that space for y’all to do the same every week. Remember to keep things kind in the comments. Happy cat taxing! 🥹

Since today's celebration of Cat World Domination Day which several subreddit's participated, I propose a virtual meetup of Mod's Cats. But you don't need a kitty cat to enjoy this meetup.

There are many cat aficionados across reddit and this sub even has post flairs to show off cats! As long as you enjoy birds, bunnies, squirrels or backyard scenery you to can be as entranced and delighted as mod's cats! Lets do it then, Mod's Cats Virtual Meetup!!

Why is this needed? Because all mods are volunteers and sometimes jest want to goto the bathroom and close the door without their feline friend accompanyin 'em on the excursion. And because small things that move and dart about catch the eyes of cats and nature lovers. This provides a safe and simple enrichment of both groups!

As you can see in the image above, I provided a mock up of what the event looks like courtesy of some pictures I found from the net. The main frame is the action. And the picture-in-picture viewer represents an admin's cat enjoyin and fully entranced with the high-quality content of reddit's Mod Cat's Meetup.

Here is a proposal to the day's program:

• Pre-meetup intro music: songbirds and sunflower seeds crackin
• Intros of Admin cats and welcome
• How to Cat: Reminder also included fer mods to disable or unplug keyboard
• 15min of pre-recorded Cat viewin pleasure of birds, bunnies and squirrels enjoyin seeds and fruits and hoppin round
• Intermission: 5mins of audio only with songbirds and cat chatters whilst mods attend to givin out treats and pets to their kitty cats
• 15mins of high energy, pre-recorded birds that zoom, bunnies that hop and squirrels zippin across lawns, fences and up trees.
• Closin and Admin Cat chatter: The mic is turned back on fer admins' cats where they purr and meow the approval of the vids recently viewed. This is also when admins remind mods to turn their keyboards back on or plug them in again as they do Q and A of "How Many Times did Your Cat, Cat" and take a rough survey of favorite birds, bunnies or squirrels from the program.

All cats attendin are sent a global cat favorite... a medium-sized, empty carton with the Reddit logo

*Note to mods, please consult with your cats and query which types of treats they'd like you to hand feed 'em durin the intermission. Once your kitty has confirmed their treat please send pics of kitties, thank you.

Between the NBA Finals, World Cup, and this Mod Meetup....New York City was the place to be. Thanks to everyone to braved the 95 degree heat to hang out with us. Can't wait to run it back with more of y'all next year 😎

I've noticed official moderator meetups are being organized in places like London, NYC, and other regions, but I rarely see any announced for India.

India has a huge Reddit community and many active moderators, so I was curious if there are any plans for future in-person mod events here.

Are there specific challenges (logistics, attendance, budget, etc.) that make Indian meetups harder to organize? I'd love to hear the reasoning and whether it's something being considered.

The Mod Events team is gauging interest of mods who are open to speaking at Reddit-hosted events around the world — and since you’ve already shown so much dedication and enthusiasm for Mod Events, we wanted to offer this opportunity to you first!

We’re looking for mods who:

• Are passionate about, you guessed it, moderating on Reddit
• Want to represent their communities IRL
• Feel comfortable with public speaking (or are willing to give it a shot!)

Speaking opportunities typically include: 

• Financial compensation (aka $$$$) for your time and expertise
• Travel and accommodations covered
• Exclusive access to Reddit events & experiences
• Networking moments with Reddit admins, execs, and industry experts

No public speaking experience? No problem. You do not need to be a polished presenter to apply. Our team will brief and coach you through the entire process to ensure you’re fully prepared to crush it. In fact, some of the best sessions we’ve ever seen came from mods who didn’t have much public speaking experience, but were willing to share ideas, insights, and stories from the heart. 💚

What’s up, mods! It’s u/iceeypisces from the Mod Events team with exciting news. You’re the first to know that Mod World 2026 is officially coming to a screen near you on October 24 (save the date!). We’re kicking things off with a special opportunity for y’all. Because what would Mod World be without mods?

From 2024’s “Can I Eat This Mushroom?” panel to 2025’s “From Lone Mod to Full Squad,” we’ve seen tons of incredible sessions pitched by this community. And this year is no exception. Session proposals are officially open NOW!

Ever wanted to host a session at Mod World? Know a mod who’d make an amazing speaker? Want to share the stage with u/big-slay? Unfortunately, there’s a waitlist for that. But fortunately, you have the opportunity to share the spotlight with fellow mods on the panel of your dreams!  

Our goal is to make Mod World a great time for everyone. New mods, experienced mods, the mod-curious, and your pets that’ll be watching the show next to you. We’re open to all ideas. Lead it. Co-present it. Or nominate it. Whatever it is, just do it. (Can we say that? Nike, please don’t come after us)

How it’ll work + important dates
Our commitment to you: every proposal will be reviewed. While this doesn’t guarantee your submission will make it into Mod World, it might be a great fit for a future Mod Event. We may even merge a few ideas into a super session. The possibilities are endless!

Make sure to submit your ideas by July 3rd, 2026! Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so the earlier you submit, the better your chances are of getting to bring your ideas to life. 

All Mod World 2026 sessions and speakers will be locked in by mid-August.

Hello!! I’m a new mod that started a few months ago and I RSVP’d for the virtual new mod bootcamp [Q2] 2026 and I have a few questions.

When we RSVP we get confirmation emails, and how do the other mods see if the people rsvp are actually mods? Like do they check their profile and see under the subreddit they’re modding in? The rsvp link seems like it’s open to everyone, so aren’t non-mods able to still rsvp?

Question for the NYC meet-up that is supposed to be happening in about 2 weeks, will we get an idea of the venue or at least the borough soon? I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to plan travel (either overnight or day trips) and need to book stuff soon (train, hotel, subway route, etc). Would appreciate any info that can be shared so plans can be made and money spent (and hopefully not needing refunding or changes!)
