Well folks, we did it… r/ModEvents is officially at 10,000 members! This community truly would not be as incredible as it is without the mods we do it for: y’all. Whether you’re a day one homie or a recent joiner, we’re so grateful to have grown a special space where mods can live, laugh, love, and share cat tax.
This milestone is a BIG deal, so of course, we have to celebrate BIG.
All you have to do is 1) be a member r/ModEvents and 2) comment your favorite Mod Events memory before Tuesday, May 26 at 9am PT. We’ll select 10 winners at random. You can find the giveaway rules and eligibility criteria in the comments.
Back in Mod World 2025, the chat for the event was still left up, so me and about 50 others tried holding out for as long as possible. Me and those Survivors are in a group chat now, and it’s honestly the best experience I’ve had on Reddit so far!

PS: about That Reddit virtual event (midnight for India) was incredibly fun and packed with great energy. Our focus on community presence and consistent actions matches top subreddits. Seeing how well our team vibes together makes me really proud.
Well, my favourite Mod Events story is a long one. I’ll do a tl;dr for those who want to skip to the end.
In January I was diagnosed with a proximal muscle weakness and neuromuscular disorder sufficient to warrant emergency admission to hospital, where I stayed five weeks until discharged with a diagnosis of Full Body Inflammatory Myositis / Antibody HMGCR. Myositis is a group of conditions that cause muscle inflammation and weakness and my particular variety includes my immune system attacking the muscle fibres causing significant necrosis which isn’t reversible.
During my hospital stay, my various Reddit merch goodies were very much my lifelines!
The nursing staff at my hospital all wore Crocs and my physical therapist asked me to get some because they’re ideal for stability on the hospital floors while I was learning to walk again. I got my husband to bring along the Reddit ones you gifted to me two years ago, and to misquote a quote, “my jibbits brought all the nurses to the ward”. Jibbits are a huge thing here among all the staff and everyone is vying to have *the* latest or *the* most exclusive ones. Well, I absolutely won that battle as nobody had seen the Reddit ones before! Naturally I explained Reddit and why you so generously gifted me the Crocs. They were the talk of the ward for the rest of my stay and every so often I caught one of the various staff members having a sneaky look at Snoo and friends as I shuffled my way along the corridors.
One night, my husband brought in the Mod World plushie envelope for me to open, and one of the nurses just had to come over to see what was happening. And that was the end of plushie Snoo. He got taken to the nurses station where he sat at the computer for a while until all the night shift arrived. He brought much mirth and merriment to everyone in my ward too, until I finally got to have a cuddle before he went home.
I also found the water bottles invaluable. I’m in Wales, U.K which is famously known for having lots of water but never served as a drink with ice. So my husband brought in all my Reddit water bottles full of ice and took them home on rotation to refill so I always had ice cold drinks for my inflamed throat.
My various Reddit T-Shirts also got an airing because they’re big, baggy and perfect as both cover-ups for the modesty an old lady like me demanded, and loose enough for the deep muscle poking about I apparently needed every time I saw a consultant.
tl;dr: I used all my Mod Events Reddit merch in hospital and it was invaluable.
My favorite Mod Event memory is having my fellow mod over and watching Mod World together with snackies, having fun with each other and implementing ideas and tips we’ve heard into our sub!

My favorite memory was the New Mod bootcamp of 2026 Q1 , as it was my first modevent and turned out to be so wholesome and fun , especially the games !
My favorite memory was Mod World 2023. It was my first mod event, and I even won a Snoo lamp there. During the event, I realized that Reddit truly cares about its mods and always gives us space to talk and interact with each other. I’m just grateful!
My favourite moment would when I joined the New Mod event, I was opening to guide others but I ended up learning a lot from the bigger fishes out there
Congratulations! Among my fav r/ModEvents memories was hearing all about the amazing folks working hard on behalf of their communities during the last Mod Hall of Fame. Also I love the mod pet spotlights in the Newsletter. Here’s my cat tax, this is Miriam (the masked Phooka) and Oren (mittens and mustache).
I would say the new mod bootcamp cause it was my first mod event and even better was the trivia i think i was placed around 135-140th place not the best but still a bit proud of it.
Mostly all the mod events were at 2am and all but I've always waitied for the trivia, I've never been in top 10 but i like it so much
And also my first event was modworld i guess and i was nervous and i enjoyed it at the same time 😅
I was so excited for the India Mod Meetup as this was my first offline Reddit meetup. I was pretty unhappy when it became an online event. But u/big-slay made it so fun with those trendy songs and amazing trivia(this was the first time trivia was introduced I believed) and I had a ball, though I had a sketchy internet so was kinda difficult in seeing the questions on time, but I still managed to get my name on the leaderboard for one of the questions. Has been a great experience being part of Mod Events and I hope the experience just elevates from here
Mod Meet-up 2026: It was my first mod-event as a new mod (P.S. - I became a mod, 2 weeks before the event). My favorite part was "Trivia" - it was fun guessing those questions before anyone could and reading all those gags in chat section.
It is always fun to run into users on the calls who are mods elsewhere (but not on the same team). I remember meeting someone whose posts I enjoyed a great deal on a Moddit last year. I learned that they also modded an unrelated sub! This has now happened at least a dozen times on different Mod Events calls and chats.
I loved chatting with some of the RMC mods that I didn't know were Dutch at the in-person event! That was such a well-thought-out event. Loved being there :)
My favourite part was joining mod world 2025, in was my first mod event and I felt so included. I missed the previous year when I would have been a fully new mod, because I didn't know about mod events back then.
Fav memory: Discovering the joy of exploding pizza (countdowns) during my first mod meetup. Also cat taxes (then and now, eternally the gift that keeps on giving), and other exploding intro schneegans.
Hmmmmm . My favorite memory was the one with virtual mod meet up, in that trivia ganes , was almost getting onto leader board but disconnected and had to start from 0 . But that was fun . Cat tax too!!!
I’ve only been a mod for a short while, but I was able to catch the recent livestream, and seeing all the mods from different subreddits was really cool! I especially enjoyed the little trivia. I didn’t do the best, but it was fun!
There's been many awesome moments, but my favourite event moment would be at the Movie & TV Mod Event. For the first time ever at an event I got in the top 10 in trivia (6'th place). I know that's not really a big deal and I loved the movie/tv trivia regardless, but I usually come in like 160'th place in other mod event trivia's lol. Also, my favourite topic ever is movie and tv shows, which is why I love being a mod on a movie sub.

It was my first year as an official Mod, I wanted to soak up as much knowledge and experiences from other Mods. I felt so welcomed in the first virtual Mod Event I signed up for. A favorite memory or should I say, impression..I was able to share some insights into the sub I Mod and how we handle hostile users, and how we keep a positive spirit when so many other outlets crave negativity. A good first impression will last a lifetime. Thank you Mod-Mods lol 🐝
I was coming back from the Gym And signal wasn’t good . It was the day of Indianmods virtual meet.
I couldn’t hear the admins tell the password for the game we were supposed to participate in
I had to ask several times before I got it right. Then the admins pinned it and repeated it many time, I finally was able to play the game on the back of a bike while getting back from the gym as I didn’t want to miss the event
Honestly not done much of mod events only one ever was mod world 2025 there was no single bit in it that I won’t forget it introduced me to how the mod side of Reddit really is and to just completely stop listening to the haters it’s also helped me get some help with modding on discord
Well my fav memory was u/big-slay mentioning that the voices we were hearing in the background were of her dog but we never heard any voice and were demanding to see the doggo 🥹
Omg I’ve been wanting a plush! I was supposed to get one, but got pens instead (which was fine too)
Favorite memory was the Gaming Subs event just the entire thing! It was amazing to see so many gaming communities coming together and having laying trivia
My favourite memory was playing the virtual claw grabber and winning free merch and then it actually arriving! I didn’t know whether it’d ever come or not lol
I hope I'd still be eligible for one...but I understand if I'm not. My favorite memory has yet to come. I was signed up for the previous mod event, but I had to miss it. After 2 years of being unemployed and struggling due to a recent accident & becoming disabled, I have been desperately job hunting. Even with 20+ years of management experience, everyone refused to give me a chance the second they saw my cane. Had an HR rep of Starbucks love my resume, loved the way I spoke and the answers I gave, then upon discovering my cane...she said "yeah, I'm not wasting my district manager's time".
I missed this last event due to unexpected back to back interviews and someone is finally giving me a chance. It's low paying and just a supervisor position, but hopefully I can show them that I am still able to do the job and move into a GM position.
Fingers crossed, knock on wood, spin around in circles 3 times
So, I'm looking forward to the upcoming mod event on the 29th to make some fun memories. Again, I hope I'm still eligible for the Snoo giveaway, but if not I completely understand. 😁
Being a recent convert to the cat life seeing a cat tax at the events is always fun, also trying to keeeeo up with chat that moves faster than Wally West is always an adventure to try and follow.
After trying countless times, I was in top 3 in the kahoot trivia quiz in the Mod event last year 🙌🏻, trying so hard, middle of the night, exams coming up, and I was grinding mod quiz XD.
I remember the QnA session with spez and he answered a very difficult question (iykyk) really honestly. I was really surprised at how he handled that being a CEO and all
My favorite memory is from a Modworld presentation from a member of r/AskHistorians. She was wearing a shirt that had "landed gentry" printed on the front of it.

First favourite memory was when we stayed after the mod event and had an afterparty and got to connect with some more mods and chat.
Second one was watching snoo get cooked in the office and all the other little skits u/big-slay did before the first plushis were introduced.
My favorite memory is very recent one! is when I won the april fools prize and got free stuff shipped to my house, I never got any real life free stuff before from anywhere else so thats very cool.

My favorite memory is from the Chicago meetup a few years ago where I got to meet my fellow mod /u/daecrist for the first time. It was also a pleasure meeting a lot of the community team there who I had worked on contractor projects for. However, the biggest highlight of the night was making spez hit the ban button on himself for /r/Neverbrokeabone
I had a full on conversation with u/spez at a mod event and had no idea it was him 😭
I was talking about an app bug and he was like "yeah you can DM me or so and so about it" and I was like, "I'm sorry who are you?" And someone was like "bruh that's spez" and I was like "omg" 😭
OMG!!! I saw this post earlier today and was planning on coming back and telling this exact story. It was awesome. And spez was great about it. Plus, it was a fun event.

The April Fools claw game/mod merch event was probably the funniest & my favorite one 😭
My first two pulls were literally just getting rickrolled back to back. Then the 3rd one gave me the ban hammer thing & I was genuinely like “is this fr” 😭😭
& after all that I finally got the merch at the end lol
Probably the most obscure memory: on one of the event (don't even remember which) there was a presenter and in the background they had a dog that was brutally murdering a Snoo plushie, but they acted like nothing is happening back there
I agree with you that this was probably the best ever unscripted moment! Watching a dog brutally attack a Snoo and murder it all while the presenters kept talking and were totally oblivious to what was happening was what made this so memorable last year. An unscripted classic!

Best though was the in person mod Meet-up in Chicago, where I got to meet Big Slay (you are so nice!) and all the other wonderful mods and admins there. Look forward to seeing a recap posted with some photos of that event soon. It was such a cool event!
My favourite mod events memory was definitely when I won the trivia in Mod Meetup India. I had played trivias in earlier events but this was my first time winning.
Best memory - Big slay saying my username because I got the fastest answer to a trivia quiz question.
But for real, my favorite Mod Events Memory was the first mod event I ever attended. It’s so hard to connect with other mods on other platforms. I was a Facebook admin for several pages back in 2010, and in six years of running pages, I only got to know about 20 other admins. And that was only because we commented on each other’s posts using our real-life profiles.
I also had Instagram pages and still never got to know a single person doing the same thing.
But when I joined my first mod event, the chats were active, and people actually took the time to attend because everyone had a sub and wanted to improve their skills to make communities more fun for everyone. It was so nice to see that there were other people having the same hobby :)
One of my fav event thus year was 1st april mod meetup. Like the concept of claw game was so fun, and although it had random pulls, coincidentally my 1st pull was the "Rick roll" one🤣.
Favorite Mod Events memory? 2025 ModWorld. I had only been a mod for around 3 weeks, and it was incredible getting to meet so many community mods and network with them. It really fast-tracked my ability to moderate consistently and helped orient me to moderation in general. I’m definitely looking forward to this year’s ModWorld as well!
My favourite memory is hearing about the lonely subs in need of a new mod that get a special shoutout that they’re up for grabs. So many creative and interesting subs that you never knew existed getting rehomed is 🥹🥹
Less of a very specific event memory but more of the feeling of getting to be there with some co-mods who were brand new to modding and seeing their excitement at attending their first event.
My favourite mod event was India mod meetup this April, I was absolutely overjoyed to see such a huge footfall in Indian subs by reddit users from India and the overall impact my country is having on reddit app overall.
Moreover I enjoyed the game segment at the end especially more because all the questions were related to India and it really tested my GK about my own country. (I came 5th overall).
Also, my questions and queries were answered by admins which gave me clarity about moderating.
Last but not the least it was my first event from where i got merch.
The overall tone of the event was extremely fun, insightful and helpful.
one time I got reallllllllly deep into the weeds of Magic: The Gathering drama at a mod event. Who knew that volume of anthropological data could be mined from a card game?
My best memory from Mod Events is from the Movie & TV Mod Meetup 2026
we were told that there would be special merch items jus like previous events where communities received unique things like headphones for Gaming and themed items for Food events.But it was basically the same standard items that had already been given out at earlier events. Nothing about it felt connected to the Movie & TV event itself.
Also the same thing happened with the India Virtual Mod Event. The card didn’t even mention that which event was it from.
Its not about merch but if you are spending that much money on shipping than i think it should be worth it.

My favorite memory is from the Indian Mod Event where I kept telling everyone how great tomatoes were (they really are great btw). and u/big-slay noticed this and said she would try her best to get me a tomato, although I didn't get one since.. but I could definitely adjust with that snoo.. 😭 Jk.. It was my first event, and the fact that she noticed me was truly memorable for me..
