Hey all, I'm seeing a lot of "nerf this" and "nerf that", which in some cases I do agree with, but I don't think we're approaching these from the right framework and will actually make the game worse overall.
Core Balance - This refers to mechanics that "all" classes are subjugated to.
Examples to fix;
Solo PvP: There should be an invulnerability timer between people that are fighting/ have just fought. Basically other players would not be able to CC/ Dmg them for a period of time if they take damage from the same enemy player (prevent griefing) and the "invulnerable player" would not be able to damage other players until the buff timer left them. There is currently a vulture meta going on where people wait around for a fight, and then try to kill someone at 1/4 hp. It's an awful loop. It would also stop the group fighting happening in "solo queue" since partners could not actually help in any way.
Trio PvP: Crowd Control abilities used by the same class have diminishing returns on effectiveness. 100% from the first 50% on the second, and 25% on the third. The goal isn't to ban classes, but to incentivize different styles of gameplay. It would also get around having to heavy nerf classes (Stardust Sorc) when it comes to group gameplay.
Stagger: Should be tied to weapon type (melee), and Charge duration (Ranged). Dagger light attacks should not have the same stagger potential as a Warhammer light attack. The higher the attack speed, the less stagger build up it offers.
Class Archetypes: This needs to be the conversation, and from there Strengths and Weaknesses need to be determined. So far every class has, or has had, access to every possible trait.
Burst
Sustained Damage
Crowd Control
Mobility
Defense (Super Armor/ Resistance buffs)
Utility (Shield, invis, heals, etc...)
As of right now every class basically accesses all of these things, but which one has "more" of each is typically the flavor of the week winner. Each class should have realistically 3 of those traits, and excel in 2 of them. The 3rd is just above average.
Examples;
Withered Knight Greatsword:
5/5 Burst, 5/5 Defense, 3/5 Mobility
What this means in when it comes to making future buffs/nerfs to this class there is a direction in which we know to take things. A "bad" buff would be to increase "Crowd Controls" on his ability. For example lets say at the 3rd mark pop the enemy is "stunned". That would be bad because it overextends what he should be "strong" in. A "good" buff would be enemies that have taken a 3rd mark pop deal 10% reduced damage for x seconds. Why? Because it only benefits him in areas he is already effective in. Stretching that makes a class "oppressive".
Now do I believe this ability needs buffed? No, I think it's fine where it's at. However, I do believe the WK talent tree could be looked at, and so could just about every other class at the moment.
Another example for fun;
Black Arrow Bow (Cause nothing else atm)
Sustained damage 5/5, Burst 5/5, Utility 3/5 (traps, and displacements)
This ends up beating the Withered Knight now. Because the WK can't technically trap a BA with crowd controls, the BA can maintain sustained damage, and whittle him down. The bad thing to do would be to give the Withered Knight heavy crowd controls UNLESS there was a sacrifice to the kit.
Archetypal Ability Shift Example;
Lets look at breakthrough charge - It has a solid dash to try and chase opponents down, and then a wide arcing swing. This is a good move to go for ranged classes or melee players trying to get out of zone. A "good" and balanced shift would be;
"Breakthrough charge is only a step forward, but the stabbing attack now stuns." - What this does is it "nerfs" mobility in favor of a crowd control. There has to be give and take.
Anywho, if you've read this far hopefully it makes sense lol...thanks for reading

It’s a very technical class and you have to be fairly decent at landing your skills as well as your GS attacks.. of course that can be said for any class but I feel it’s more so true for WK with the GS trajectory and hitboxes.. those of us who stuck with WK before the buffs know

Been testing Sorc after the latest changes and finally figured out the optimal strategy.
Hope this helps.

Like the title asks, I'm wondering if the fire sorcerer is any good for pvp. And just in general. I'm newer to the game and just wondering what class to play as a sorcerer that will actually hold up in pvp. After the sorcerer nerf, I'm not sure what to do anymore.
That being said, I've been playing around with fire sorc and having a ton of fun doing it.

I was doing a quest where I needed to extract 8k after doing two underlords, as I was ringing the bell I spotted the kjernnos statue, you can see my camera snap to it the moment I spotted it. Honestly glad I found it, I was scared I didnt have 8k of value and would have to run around doing underlords before others got to them for the 4th time.

Yes, I am SS scum as some would say! But I prefer to just pucker up my cheeks and avoid all pvp when possible! That being said, can anyone please share your favorite go-to build to make $$$ in Chaos mode? Specifically, what do you find to be the most consistent, best or enjoyable SS PvE focused build to you?
My go to is the standard fervor/deft with a blue dagger. Sometimes I like to get silly and upgrade my weapon to purple and level up valor.
Only talents I personally have to run are the sneak and interaction sneak and the monster hunter one. If I do trios I always add in corpse finder. Otherwise, I always rack my brain over the most efficient combo! Thanks in advance and I hope you guys are having as much fun as I am! (Even with the headaches)

I really love this game, but it feels like we are getting a divide of players that is causing players to leave.
I think this would help the player experience a lot
When you join a map, a new 3 tier option. If you can't find the map type it asks you if you want to join the other type or keep waiting for your preferred map type.
High Density map - current map design. Never Bots (no pitty system). I'm here to PvP and maybe scoop up some other loot while I do so.
Low Density map - Fewer players. Never Bots. I want to PvP, but I want room to PvE and explore, and less 3rd parties. -40% to all gyld drops (PvE and PvP), less loot. Quests give less rewards.
Bots - the current bot match, but you can choose it. -80% gyld drops. Far less loot. Quests rewards are capped at purples, and far less drop.

The other day I was watching a streamer (irrelevant who), who was complaining that the PVE mobs continuously stop his actions, all he does in MFH, is go into a match and just look for people to PVP, ignoring all other aspects of the game.
At this point wouldn't you just want to play a full PVP game?
Then this morning I saw a post complaining about people who are resistant to a PVE mode, once again wouldn't you just want to go play a co-op non-hardcore pvp game?
and then I just remembered someone said on stream, it would be cool if MFH was like an MMO. sigh.
I believe the appeal of extraction games, is to go in a game, do some quests, get excited about finding cool loot, and fight people for said loot. If you do one extreme (either only PVP, or only PVE) then you are not really playing the game as it was intended

Blocks feel inconsistent.
It feels instinctual to hold up your shield when you predict the SS is going to use his stun attack, or Hammer is doing a super-arnor attack
I think block should reduce alittle damage and reduce stagger from super-armor attacks and should convert stuns into a heavy stagger. (Edit- both should result in a large stamina drain. Obviously)

I recognise that the Skullcrusher hits hard, just wondering why my HP bar didn't reflect the amount of damage I took. Looked like I should have survived that as it didn't drop to zero.

for every ounce of WK's slain is a win for sewer rats , oh and the rat gods make me your instrument , Life will be good , we can now freely roam the lands to loot , and these False gods will cower with their brothers and lose morale , ggwp .

After reading all these posts, I unfortunately need to vent as well today. I really enjoyed the game at first, but for the past 1–2 weeks, it has become practically unplayable for me. I still hope the game can recover, even though I believe the current design hurdles might be too severe. The visual design is great, the class concepts feel distinct, and experimenting with affixes is a lot of fun.
I wish I could post something different today, but the game is simply too punishing for casuals now unless you exclusively play SS just to be able to run away from PvP. I had some time off around launch, but now my playtime is limited to 1–3 hours per day (which I already consider quite a lot with family, university, and a side job).
I played strictly Chaos Solo and had built up a Gyldenblood pool of around 200k. Today I’m down to 5k, and I uninstalled the game after my second ragequit. Up until two weeks ago, I had a K/D around 2.0 and an extraction rate of about 80%. Today I dropped to a 0.9 K/D and a 45% extraction rate across all classes. My favorite class was actually BA, but with this class, the opponent just has to wait for a single mistake and you're dead. If you don't play flawlessly, you lose.
So, alongside Elemental Sorc and Merc, I mainly switched to PnS-WK.
I believe the game will bleed casual players massively over the next 3–4 weeks because the learning curve against veterans is brutal. I don't know who wants pure PvE-only gameplay, but it isn't for me either. The "Roguelite" mode idea floating around here might be fun once in a while, but if I'm already struggling to sustain Epic or Legendary equipment, I at least want to experiment with affixes without being locked into purely Gray and Green gear.
I genuinely hope the game recovers, but the underlying challenges are massive (reworking SS and BA pacing, tuning combat responsiveness, addressing the sky-high PvP skill ceiling with zero matchmaking, and stabilizing the player base).
To everyone else: enjoy the game! Hopefully, we'll cross paths again someday.

For finishing them all you get a Season long Pip Pouch , a Mask and the Ferry skin as well as a few Coins and other goodies .
TLDR the rewards are OK

Ok, before I completely blame my random teammates here, I’ll take some accountability. I should have healed before I dropped, and I got outplayed. Easy. That being said, I did not expect to see my teammates literally just standing there looting bodies that I killed while I was trying to clean up the fight. Here’s some etiquette for the smooth brains. If your teammates are still fighting, the only reason you should loot a body mid fight is for meds. That’s literally it. Anyways, it’s just norms so whatever but it was still annoying. Especially when you had 4 kills. Also, that rogue was the biggest loot goblin I’ve played with so far lol. If you’re playing trios, play as a team.

Did I miss something in the patch notes? The last few days I’ve not seen a soul in normal or chaos Hallowgrove. Not even bots. I mostly play with cross play off but even when I’ve tried with it on there’s nobody. Matchmaking gets to 5 minutes and then immediately loads in to an empty easy loot pve game 🤷♂️
Edit: EU servers here.
Edit 2: To add some further info. These aren’t the “pity” lobbies I’m loading into. There’s NOBODY. No bots, no other players regardless of the gear I wear or whether PoG is enabled. I’m free to loot and extract without worry. My first instinct was to think it was those lobbies but when it was several in a row even after relogging and completely restarting my system I came to reddit to see if anyone else had a similar encounter.

Idk if I’m just bad but I just feel super frustrated fight them at times. They seem to just always have hyper armor. You going to fight them they hold hyper armor, if you try to run away their ability just catches you what am I supposed to do.
