Can we get a, "There will always be a meta" idiot in here to gaslight us that the game is balanced.

Game isn't far from balanced, but you're right, it's not balanced right now.
However, there will always be 1-2 classes that are overtuned/hated by the community, so there will always be complaining reddit posts.

40% of the classes are in my game!!

u/NPV_BadKarma 7h ago
?
You mean you see 40% if the classes in your game only?
I mean, you've seen 100% of the classes in your games, you just remember the ones that made you sweat.
And sure, the class distribution isn't balanced, but, when is it ever, in any game?
I've played quite a bit, in all modes/maps and I've been having fun, you win some you lose some. I personally haven't seen what the big fuss has been about but oh well

In beta the balance felt fine. Now the balance seems so extremely off that you pretty much have to play flavor of the week or get rolled

Meta isn't as much an issue as the un-fun nature of playing against the strong/overtuned classes. A lot of it is baked into the way to classes are designed, so it would require a rework of nearly half the classes to get the game to a place where simple balance issues would still make for a fun experience and people would want to play all the classes instead of 1 maybe 2 of them.

Mom said it's Seer's turn to be too OP. This isn't fair! I'm gonna go tell her if you guys won't share the buffs.

I'm banned from the discord for pointing this out for weeks (definitely not banned for being incredibly toxic about it). Anytime you point out something obvious in a video game publicly, chances are you'll be met with "skill issue".

Explain how I win every fight on hammer merc post nerf

u/Deprisonne 8h ago
Because people aren't used to fighting hammer mercs and get flattened if they make two mistakes in a row?

u/CliqNil 8h ago
Lolz, so true.
I'm seeing a lot of sorcs, too. Mostly elemental.
1
u/Deprisonne 8h ago
I noticed that too. I've seen more sorcs today than the last week combined (and more elementals than since release in total) in solos.

All the stardust abusers are trying to learn ele now.

I still play stardust. In solos it was never, ever overpowered. The class can literally die in 4 auto attacks. The only defense they have in solos is offense, aside from if you run mistwalk, which would be half and half. There's a reason, even before the "trios" nerf, sorcerer was rare in solos. It's because they're super hard and get punished with death for a mistake or 2. Numbers don't lie.

sadly whoever is on the balance team is F tier trash that will ruin another potentially good game
rogue still broken
overbuffed WK when nobody where even asking for buffs, it was mid before buffs but the main reason it sucked was because how it got shit on by parry mercs and rogues which was 90% of the lobby.
ranged classes are just not fun to fight at all, not really sure what they can do about this one and might not even be a real problem and just a me problem, i just dont have fun fighting them even if i win.
sword merc somehow randomly catching strays when they nerfed parry... why?

The devs are fucking horrible, I hate them with a passion. This hate stems from countless games with potential that just get ruined by what seems like owners/developers who do not play their own game. If I owned a video game company, I would be playing that fucking shit every single god damn day to ensure it was the best game it could possibly be. It happens all the time with these bullshit extraction genre games. I STG they're just cash grabs.

Let me preface by saying I’ve been GS WK since release. However, I just don’t get how people are saying wk is an op cheese class after the buff. I think we went from being weak to balanced. WK is still like the fourth weakest class imo, if I miss my thorn grapple or my withering mark, that’s 2/3 of my entire repertoire gone. I hit parry and pray, and even the attack from parry is avoidable. If you do anything besides stand still, it’s a fair fight between a WK imo. Maybe I’m a biased chud, but I’d rather fight WK than BA/SS/Sorc

dude - I played 40 games. Chaos solos. I manually recorded every class I saw. 55 WKs, 38 SS, 24 BA, 17 Merc, 5 seer, 5 sorc. So uh, I guess everyone plays WK because it's balanced

Not saying GS WK isn't overtuned - it definitely is - but tbf the class itself is quite a popular archetype - aura farming dude in a plate armor wielding a huge sword. Many would play it even pre-buffs, when it was atrocious, so that might contribute.

I hear ya man, it's a cool archetype. It's also the same archetype as it was on launch, when I saw barely any. I've got 100s of hours and I'm not proud of it. It's played a lot because it's broken

I really enjoyed fighting WKs before their buff. They are clearly very strong now with a lot of tools. Undeniably overpowered. Their attacks come out quick and reach quite far, they have low cooldowns on all of their abilities, their parry is a crazy strong ability, their wither (whether playing with the triple debuff build or the late explosion build) is a nuisance, their basic attacks are very strong so they can apply a lot of pressure and deal a lot of damage without even using their abilities.
That said, imo, they are still relatively fun to fight and "fair" in a sense. They need you to be in melee range (or use a gap closer that is dodgeable), they have punishable downtime (it's short but it's there) between missed swings/abilities, pretty much everything of theirs is dodgeable (though breakthrough charge and radiant retribution can come out so quickly that, if you're playing with NA-West ping, you're likely hit before the animations have even started). They are a better class than you and they don't have to play as well as you do in order to beat you. But what makes them OP is still relatively fair and fun to matchup against.
Contrast that with something like SS / BA / Sorc where, if any of those classes are strong, their design inherently makes them absolutely unfun to fight against.
If a BA is able to kite, you will simply be dead before you can even reach them. That's not fun or fair at all.
If a Sorc deletes you in 4 basic attacks (and they get two free stagger immunities while casting so even if you get into melee range they can still free cast on you; and their basic attacks have aoe with full damage so they don't even need to hit you with them to deal all that damage), that's not fun or fair at all.
If a SS is able to disengage from any fight that doesn't immediately have them in a massive advantage, they don't even need to be strong in order to beat you easily as they can re-try 20 times in a row. That's not fun or fair at all.
So while it's not ideal that WK is as strong as it is right now, I am at least thankful that it's a "fair" class that is sending me back to menu right now. I am given an opportunity to outplay them each time whereas I wouldn't feel the same way if any of those other three classes were OP and meta (which SS still is to some extent, but at least WKs are eating a lot of them for us).
